All about Sentosa Island

When to visit

Like the rest of Singapore, Sentosa is a year-round destination, but if beach is on your agenda you’ll find the weather’s best between May and August. Sentosa’s attractions can get busy at weekends, especially during the June–July school vacation and over the Lunar New Year holidays in January or February: visit midweek if you can. The island has sound and light shows and some nightlife, but most attractions close in the evening.

Getting around

With free buses, a free beach shuttle, and the Sentosa Express monorail, getting around Sentosa is a dream: services generally start early in the morning and run until around midnight. There’s a network of cycle paths if you’ve rented a bike, plus boardwalks and nature trails for hikers, while the Singapore Cable Car lets you see Sentosa from above.

Traveler tips

For a very different take on Sentosa Island, try exploring on foot. The Sentosa Heritage Trail, a network of signposted walking routes, includes a great history hike from Siloso Point to Imbiah Battery, with a focus on the island’s forts. Or start from Sentosa Nature Discovery and follow the 2.2-mile (3.5-kilometer) Imbiah Nature Trail through a range of different habitats, including a canopy walkway.
