The basics

The Museum of Applied Arts was established in the 19th century, and its holdings have grown for more than 125 years to encompass a rich collection of Hungarian design and applied art. Beyond the galleries, the building itself is a work of art that blends diverse aesthetics of Islamic, Hindu, and Mogul design.

You can purchase entry online or pick up tickets when you arrive. Don't miss the opulent library, admire objects from the Esterházy Treasury, and find numerous works from Hungarian artists. To learn more during your visit, book a guided tour in advance; tours are available in English, French, and Hungarian. You can easily add on a stop for lunch at the Central Market Hall, and stroll over the Liberty Bridge to Buda. Both are about a 10-minute walk.
