Miller Park

1 Brewers Way, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 53214

The Basics

Miller Field opened in 2001, replacing the Brewers’ previous home, Milwaukee County Stadium—it added over 13,000 seats, for a final seating capacity of nearly 42,000. The name changed to American Family Field, or AmFam Field, in 2021 when American Family Insurance took over the naming rights of the stadium.

Though the iconic Miller Park sign is gone, the experience remains the same—you’ll still get to see the Brewers play in one of the most beautiful stadiums in the country, and you’ll still be able to socialize over a cold one in the Miller Lite Landing, scope out the Brewers Hall of Fame, or even stick around for onion rings at TGI Friday’s.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Purchase tickets in advance—they can sell out quickly, especially for high-profile games.
  • If you’re a first-timer, arrive early to explore the stadium and find your seat. This will allow you to check out the various concession stands and fan areas before the game starts.
  • Dress in layers. Sure, the retractable roof can be opened or closed depending on the weather, but temperatures can still vary wildly.
  • If the roof is open, bring sunscreen and that Brewers cap—the seating area is mostly exposed to the sun.

How to Get There

With 40,000+ seats, American Family Field offers a ton of parking options, including a massive (paid) parking lot and a parking garage. But there’s also a shuttle service that picks up fans across the city, largely at hotels and bars—a great option if you don’t want to worry about parking, paying for parking, traffic, or having to pick a designated driver.

When to Get There

The stadium doors open 90 minutes before game time—apart from opening day, that is, when the doors are open much of the day. Traffic can seriously back up on weekend game days, so arrive as early as you can. The stadium’s parking lots open 3 hours before game time, which many fans take advantage of just to partake in the city’s uproarious tailgating scene.

Grab Me Some Peanuts

The food at AmFam Field is surprisingly good. And get this: With the MLB app, you can order concessions from your seat. Standouts are anything with meat and cheese—this is Wisconsin, after all. Go for the brats, nachos on a stick (yep), and the Twisted Cheese Fry—fries smothered in Sargento cheddar and cheese curds. Don’t worry about cash; the stadium is cards only.
