Stick around the Port of Tampa before or after your cruise to explore its many attractions. The Florida Aquarium, Channelside Bay Plaza, and American Victory Ship & Museum are beside the port. To the north, Ybor City offers Cuban sandwiches and cigars. A stroll west around the Tampa Riverwalk takes you to NHL action at Amalie Arena, the ferry launch to St. Pete, and the year-round events at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.

Things to know before you go

  • The Florida Aquarium is near Terminal 2 and is open all week.

  • Sparkman Wharf near Terminal 2 has multiple stores and restaurants open throughout the day and night.

  • Be aware of road closures and full parking lots near the port when nearby Amalie Arena hosts events like NHL games.

How to get there

The Port of Tampa Bay is located at 1101 Channelside Dr., near the downtown area known as the Channel District. It’s easily accessible by car, bike, or foot from downtown. You can also take a TECO Line Streetcar directly to the port via line 800. Cruise ship passengers can also take a taxi or shuttle from TPA or PIE to the port.

When to get there

Cruise ship passengers should arrive for their cruise at least 90 minutes before departure. Those visiting the port to watch the ships sail or visit one of the nearby attractions should arrive early to find parking, especially since The Florida Aquarium is one of the most popular sites in the city.

Explore more near the Port of Tampa Bay

Most visitors know that The Florida Aquarium and American Victory Ship & Museum are next to the Port of Tampa Bay, but fewer venture along the Garrison Channel. Less than a 10-minute walk from the aquarium is the Tampa Bay History Center, full of interactive exhibits and films about the city’s history. Cotanchobee Fort Brooke Park sits beside it, housing a waterfront park with a pier and playground.
