The only reason I did not give this a 5 star review is that I feel like my 10-year-old got hosed when it came to being inside the exhibit with the monkeys. She was the smallest one in the cage, and because of this, the monkeys did not jump on her like they did the other people. Then when I tried to be the last person to exit the cage with my daughter (to see if we could get a monkey on her head), a lady came back in and the monkeys started jumping on her. My 10-year-old was SUPER disappointed because of this. She wanted a monkey to jump on her head so bad! It made me sad to see her sad. She was pretty upset about it.
However, everything else was fantastic!
Best tour ever!

Amazing tour! Our driver Adolf was a great guide. The snorkeling was the highlight! Beautiful coral reef and the conditions were right to see the shipwreck! Bring multiple 10s and 5s for tipping. We didn't realize we would be handed off to multiple guides throughout the adventure(iguanas, monkeys/sloths/parrots, snorkel etc) wonderful excursion for kids!
A great tour!

Our tour started when our driver, Shem, picked us up straight from our hotel. He explained some of the sights while he safely drove us to our first destination, an iguana sanctuary. Here, our guide explained the two types of iguanas on the island and we had a chance to hold and feed some of the iguanas. There was also a nice little gift shop available. From there we drove over to Daniel Johnson's to see sloths, monkeys, and parrots. When we were done, we took a boat straight from Daniel Johnson's out onto the reef to snorkel. We saw many amazing fish, including a school of a couple hundred blue tangs swimming around. Amazing all around!
So much to see and experience

We had an amazing time! Neki was our guide and she was awesome! We loved the iguana sanctuary, we even met the founder. It was very informative and my kids loved feeding the iguanas. The monkey and sloth experience is an unforgettable experience. We loved holding the sloths although I wish it was for longer haha. And the monkeys were fun. We loved snorkeling although we didn’t see much it was so nice to be in the crystal clear warm Caribbean Sea. After snorkeling we went to Bradys cay and drinks and lunch. Other people told us the wait for food was long but Neki was able to talk to a server (Paul) and he got our food out right away! Brady’s cay was fun for our kids too. The especially loved the swings in the water. This excursion is definitely a must if visiting Roatan!
Kids will love this!

This excursion was really good. We got to see a lot. The Iguana Farm was really cool. The sloths were so sweet to hold. The monkies were wild but fun.
Snorkeling part could of been a little more organized. Spring break was going on so we just had to be patient with crowds.

We very much enjoyed the iguanas, sloths and monkeys and thought the people working there were great. However, there was SO much waiting around (almost an hour before we got going) However the most disappointing part was the snorkelling. We’d never done it before and expected a bit of coaching but we’re pretty much dumped in the ocean for “drift snorkelling” which was not good for beginners at all. Very expensive overall for what we got

The staff are professional, tried to make our trip as comfortable and interesting as possible. But all the equipment was outdated, there was no freash water if you didn't take it with you.
Highlight of our vacation, much recommended.

We had a West-Caribbean cruise two weeks ago and this Roatan excursion was one of the highlights of the whole vacation. The competitor was Dolphin ride in Cozumel, which was twice the cost. What we liked especially (actually we liked everything):
1. Flexible schedule and effective use of time. No need to wait for buses and big groups. It was only our family (4 people) in the car and our fantastic(!) guide Tommy was ready to start as soon as we had landed. So we could start the excursion more than an hour before the scheduled time. We got maximum from our time on Roatan. In addition to the main stops, Tommy showed us other places and told us so much about Roatan. So we got more than was promised to us and more than we expected.
2. As expected, all the wonderful creatures - sloths, iguanas, monkeys, parrots impressed us. It's not just a zoo, but you can really be in contact with the animals and they seem to like it too. We were lucky to see a wild sloth just nearby also. Seeing some big fish, including a wild barracuda was another bonus. The local staff does the work with passion, it's more than just business for them.
3. Snorkeling was even better than in Belize (and Belize was also great). Special thanks to Jack Sparrow from my 80 year old dad, who to his own surprise was able to do his first snorkeling - the whole swim. Jack was really skillful in encouraging and coaching the beginners.
4. It was fun all the time! My son still repeats Tommy's jokes.
Thanks again, Tommy!
Great Tour!

Excellent animal filled day
amy_h, feb. 2024
I'm so glad we booked this tour and we got to experience so many different animals in 1 day. The staff was very knowledgeable friendly. Take your hat off inside the bird enclosure. He ate the button of the top! Sloths, iguanas and monkeys were fun too.

Whitney (and son Robert) took us all over the island. We did a chocolate store, iguanas, sloths, monkeys, snorkel and some shopping. We would go back again.
Tour was great but grab a seat first!
David_A, jan. 2024
Seeing the animals was great. Watching the monkeys hop around on the people and getting to hold an adorable sloth was amazing. Seeing dozens of iquanas running around free was a sight to behold and some would even let you pet them or feed them leaves and veggies. The snorkeling at the Mesoamerican reef was unbelievable, beautiful coral and magnificent fish in crystal clear water is not to be missed. The only issue was that there were 4 ships docked at Roatan that day and that overwhelmed the tour guide a bit. As we were apparently the only couple that chose our specific tour at our time, we were kind of stuck in a round hole as square pegs. They were sending small groups of 4-5 people out in regular cars. However, they had one big 24-passenger bus. The problem was that we made it 26 people and were allocated last. My wife and I are in our early 70s and not decrepit but still there are things it takes a while to do. Well, we found out one of those things is crawl in the bus last, unfold the jump seats up on top of the cowl covering the engine and sit up there with my head about 2 inches from the roof for a 25 minute ride on some fairly rough roads! And let's don't even talk about the "air conditioned" part of the bus promise when you're sitting on the engine. At the first stop, we did make sure to get back to the bus in time to grad 2 regular seats although the younger and more agile folks in the jump seats did give us some nasty looks! Overall, however, the sites were wonderful, the staff was wonderful and I would do it again, I'd just grab a seat sooner!
Great time

Great time. Everyone was friendly and very knowledgeable about the animals, fish and area. Our guide Harley was awesome.
I would love to snorkel the reef a lot more because it was magnificent
Donald_C, nov. 2023
Driver went out of his way to make sure we saw and enjoyed Roatan while we were there. My wife liked it so much she wants to come back and spend a week. Snorkeling was great, we saw lobster and a lot of fish. We even saw a barracuda swimming around the reef. The kids really enjoyed everything about this excursion
Enjoyable for all the family

Great tour, easy to find once you are off the cruise. Our driver was Benson and he was awesome! The monkeys were crazy fun and hyper as well as the iguanas.
Great Day

This was an awesome excursion. Our Tour guide Kembron was awesome he was very friendly and informative about the island, and he was on time to pick us up and drop us off. The Iguana reserve was great. The sloth and monkey encounter was the high light of the day! Finally, we went for a great snorkel and our guide was great pointing out all types of sea life! Highly recommend.
Awesome Roatan experience
Natalie_A, juni 2023
This was the excursion I was most excited about and it did not disappoint. It was surreal getting to hold the sloths, such a unique experience. The monkeys were crazy but it was so funny watching them bounce around from person to person. We also went into the macaw cage and met several beautiful birds. The snorkeling was great, perfect water temperature and a nice guided swim through protected coral reef. My whole family loved it and we would definitely do it again.
Just do it! No Regrets!

Best snorkeling we’ve done anywhere. Breathtaking.
The animal sanctuary was fabulous. Great guides and it was an interactive experience with iguanas, monkeys and macaws. You learn sooo much.
Our driver, Harly Bennett, was the best we’ve had on all our adventures…anywhere. Native to Roatan, careful driver, very polite, super smart. Made the trip fun from pickup to return!
Most Amazing Day.

Absolutely best tour ever!!! Daniel Johnson’s Animal reserve is so well run. Clean and the make sure everyone gets great pictures. Could not be improved. Snorkeling from there was AMAZING! We were the only ones with 3 workers. A man pulled us as we held on to a life preserver. We got to hold starfish, urchins, sand dollars, sea cucumber, etc. Felt like we were Royalty. Iquana preserve is amazing. Clean. Excellent tour leader. Got to feed Iquana. Reasonable priced souvenirs. Wonder memories. Our driver was friendly, interesting and got us back to port with plenty of time to shop and board the ship. I recommend Viator every chance I can.
