Incredible Tour
Nicole_A, mars 2024
This is one of the cooler things I’ve ever done. Manuel was a fantastic guide and made sure everyone was taken care of. He was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. Would highly recommend this to anyone who is interested. The food was also good.
A Really Good Tour...Mostly!
Peter_A, mars 2024
The guide was good but didn't give us much time to view the formations - he held the only decent light (we were asked to use a low light on our helmets for some unknown reason) so a lot of the time we had to cheat and turn our lights up to see any of the impressive bits. I think it might have been so he could show us the cheap "this formation looks like an old woman" items but we'd have preferred to see the glory of the rocks. Take your own snacks if you value your wallet - we stopped at a "random" supermarket with no prices on anything to get food for the trek and it cost us about £8.50 for a large-ish bag of salted crisps and a Snickers. Then it turned out there was no opportunity to actually eat it at any point, so why did we stop at all...purely to get ripped off...? Also, they asked us to bring a change of clothes. We did. But then it turned out there was a dress code, so I couldn't go bare chested and my other half couldn't go in her swimsuit, so we had to soak our change of clothes. Our bad in some ways, but unless I'm totally blind the details on the ticket didn't explain this. Having said all that, the cave was spectacular (when we secretly allowed ourselves to see any of it) and the end point was worth all the squeezes through tight openings at weird angles, cold water, sharp rocks, awkward climbs and mild claustrophobia. There was also a two-mile hike to the cave which was quite cool as we had to cross the river 3 times and the view up and down the river was lovely. In the end we got back quite tired to the starting point and the lunch was sitting ready for us just served and it was pretty nice - Belizean chicken, rice with beans, coleslaw, tortilla chips and a really good salsa. Little bit of hot sauce and quite a big container of rum punch which wasn't very strong but was still a decent addition. So although there were clothes issues and the rip-off supermarket, those minor negatives were worth the experience.
Once in a lifetime experience.

Patrick was our guide, excellent service. Learned a great deal just walking to the caves. In the cave it was incredible and the information we received from our guide amazing. My sister and I are older and received the best treatment we could have asked for.
Just book it now

+100 to what’s already been said - amazing experience, fantastic guide (Manuel), food pretty good, but just a unique, memorable time.
Unforgettable unique experience!
Stephanie_D, mars 2024
We weren’t quite sure exactly what to expect but this experience far exceeded our expectations! It was truly a unique experience including a lot of history with a mix of adventure. We spent much more time than expected in the cave and saw so much more artifacts then we could have imagined. It does require a lot of walking, some balance and ability to adjust in different spaces including dark spaces and tight crevices.
It’s a must
Russel_T, feb. 2024
I’ve done some cool things in my life in all corners of the globe. India, South America, Alaska, Europe, Asia. The ATM caves in Belize are very near the top of my list of coolest experiences ever. In this world of pre-packaged adventures and curated museums, a truly hands on adventure kilometers deep in the earth with access to actual artifacts without barriers or OSHA approved exits is so refreshing! It’s a must do if ever near Belize. Our guide was amazing Glize (sp?) in particular particularly great describing Maya culture with perspective of a descendant who grew up caving the area as a teen. Even the lunch was excellent simple comida de la gente. 15 out of 10
Exhilarating, fascinating, breathtaking and possibly life changing
Karthika_S, feb. 2024
We walked through a rain forest, waded through bodies of water that flowed over loose rocks, and swam into the mouth of the cave . Once inside the cave, we hiked, scrambled, waded through more water, and contorted our bodies to pass through tight spaces. It was physically demanding and exhilarating. The cave has beautiful displays of stalactites and stalagmites that come together in parts to form cathedral like shapes. Throughout the cave there are calcium carbonated surfaces that shimmer. We first took in the splendor of this archeological wonder. We then reached the sacred space, a large chamber with Mayan artifacts and remains of human sacrifices. To be able to stand and crouch near the thousands of years old remains was humbling. Unlike in museums, there is no glass separating you. There is just a string of rope and a guide educating you and asking you to be respectful. Our guide, Patrick was phenomenal. He made the experience enjoyable as well as educational. He shared personal stories and moved with the grace of a zen master. If you are physically and mentally able to navigate what I have described here, please go on this tour. It is an experience that will stay with you.

For anyone seeking an adventure that combines history, nature, and excitement, I cannot recommend the ATM caves highly enough. It's an experience that will leave you in awe of both the natural wonders of Belize and the ingenuity of the ancient Mayan civilization. The lunch and rum punch after was the perfect end to a wonderful day
An amazing experience!...
TYSON_S, feb. 2024
An amazing experience! Because they don't allow photos it was hard to tell what we were getting into, but it was exhilarating, fun, informational and stunning. It's not exactly hard to do, but it was a couple hours of walking, wading, swimming, and climbing. A nice lunch at the end to top off a thrilling adventure!
A must in Belize
Rachel_D, jan. 2024
Manuel, our guide, was very funny while he explains everything about Mayas and the caves. He was very helpful with everyone during our hiking, swiming and climbing through the caves, so we felt safe. And the lunch was much more what I was expected. It's not a simple sandwich but a real hot lunch. Thanks for this amazing activity!
Stunning

Enchanting adventure into the Mayan underworld. Well-regulated tours and expert guides (only 21 guides certified to do so) take you to a nearly pristine, remote archaeological site a couple km into a watery cave (after a 20min trek through wide-trail jungle, including 3 river crossings). Fun climbing around and plenty of refreshing water. Beautiful rock formations to admire and incredible access to Mayan ceremonial sites. Our tour guide, Edward, had extensive knowledge and had great chemistry with our tour group of 6 (3 independent couples paired for approximate physical ability). Well managed experience that offers a grand sense of adventure. I'll remember this trip for a lifetime!
Cool in caves.
Heather_F, dec. 2023
I would give this to 10 out of five stars. You will not be disappointed. My father and I did this tour and felt like Indiana Jones. It was both of our favorite tours of the whole trip (and that is saying a lot, as we did a flyover of the blue hole, snorkeling in the islands, and a day trip to Tikal). Rafael was extremely experienced in the area and with his archaeology PhD expertise, we felt incredibly lucky to have him as our guide. The Tour itself does start off with a lot of water throughout, so be aware of this and best to cover up well wall outside of the water i.e. when having lunch afterward, so the bugs don’t bite you. Other than that enjoy the adventure!! But above all, please respect the area and the meaning it has to the local people around.
Incredible Experience!
Julie_M, maj 2023
We had the best time on the tour and our guide Patrick could not have been better, he was very funny and put us at ease as we were very nervous going into it. He was extremely knowledgeable about the Mayan culture along with the floral and fauna of the area. It was the most incredible experience ever! This is a must do tour when your are in Belize.
Great experience, very different to anything else
Jack_M, maj 2023
The tour itself was really good, we’d give the tour itself 5* The guide, Manuel, was also great. He had so much great information and was funny. He was also very on top of safety and telling us exactly where to step. The bit that let it down was the information beforehand. We didn’t receive enough preliminary information. For example when we got there we were told we couldn’t put sunscreen on and should’ve done it earlier - though we then walked for 45mins with little shade. We (and other people) also knew we couldn’t take cameras in the cave, but assumed we could take them into the park - you can’t. The cave is fantastic. There are a lot of relics, artefacts and history. The climbing was great fun, some of the spaces look quite small, but are fine when you’re doing them. There is also a ladder towards the end, to see the crystallised skeleton. It takes a few hours in the cave - 800m each way - with the climbing and swimming. We did get slightly cold at times, especially when we were standing around looking at things. I’d recommend wearing a decent shirt, slightly thicker material maybe. Also, I wore hiking boots, and my girlfriend wore high quality water shoes. Both were fine, but I wouldn’t want to wear my thin-soled water shoes.
Great experience

Great experience and amazing guide who was very knowledgeable and passionate. Really glad we booked with this company instead of our hotel.
Better than imagined
Matthew_F, apr. 2023
Don’t think the description does this one justice. Full physical endeavor, swimming and scrambling in the cave was a blast!
Great experience
Manan_S, mars 2023
Great caving and hiking experience. Got to walk, swim and climb through caves to see an ancient Mayan ritual site. The views along the way were great. The guides were very helpful and guided a safe and fun tour. Lunch was great as well with some rum punch provided at the end of the day for an extra kick! Would recommend waterproof closed toes Sandles. Otherwise they provide everything for you.
A top experience!

The van for the ride picked us up at our Airbnb which was a great convenience. I’m confident that we got the best tour guide in Belize too. Abraham was so easy-going and great with direction as we maneuvered through the cave. I appreciated that he didn’t fill every silence and talk the whole time because it gave us the chance to really absorb the wonder and marvel we were experiencing. He always invited questions and gave thorough answers and when we got to the main area, he really took the time to tell us about the history and reason we were seeing the things we saw. This was one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had. Despite preferring to explore solo, I didn’t mind that this required a guide. I also didn’t have a single moment of anxiety despite having had some issues in the past with claustrophobia. There’s only a couple spots that are squeezed and there’s so much to see that the tight spots didn’t get in the way of my experience. I’d suggest NOT wearing loose fitting clothes though—mine ended up sticking to me awkwardly. Also, be sure your helmet/lamp is fitted as comfortably as possible before you set out! I didn’t think the rivers were all that cold, but your results may vary. Lunch was amazing and delicious and filling. This is worth every penny!
A true highlight adventure!
wendy_w, aug. 2022
Being in the jungle chest high in the river with rain was a blast. The cave was exciting with all the water ways, rock scrambles and historical information. Our guide, Patrick, was perfect.
ATM = OMG

The ATM Cave is one of the most memorable experiences I've ever had. This tour was so smooth, with pickup and dropoff from our jungle lodge, an amazing guide, and a delicious lunch. Book this tour and have the most amazing experience!
