What To Expect

You’ll start your tour just across from the Rijksmuseum, where you’ll meet your guide and walk straight past the long lines that usually form outside of the Van Gogh Museum as soon as it opens.

Once you’ve entered, you’ll begin with Van Gogh’s troubled period, reflected by his darker paintings. Then, you’ll move on to lighter, brighter works of art, and benefit from the undivided attention of your private guide throughout.

You’ll stop at iconic works such as *Sunflowers* and admire works by famous artists that inspired Van Gogh, but you’ll also discover lesser-known paintings and drawings among the world’s largest collection of work by Van Gogh.

When your tour ends, you’ll be able to stay inside the museum for as long as you like until it closes, as your admission ticket is valid all day.

Favorable Van Gogh experience

Tour guide Romy was very knowledgeable about the background of the paintings and the Van Gogh family history. Made it a memorable experience. Appreciated Romy’s communication skills from arranging pick up to during the tour itsel. The museum itself is beautiful and well organized to accommodate many visitors.

Guide was excellent and did his very best to find the whole group texting and calling. As opposed to the Zaan guide that didn’t bother to try and find me for the Keukenhof garden tour. I spent 45 min looking. Anyway guide for the Van Gogh was fabulous!

Our guide told the story of Van Gogh as an artist and as a person, in addition to speaking to his evolution as an artist. It was really easy to meet up with him and he handled everything seamlessly.

Disappointing Guide

Our guide was a big disappointment. She constantly sprinkled vulgar language into her commentary. Perhaps I am old fashioned, but vulgar language is rude in public places and is also disrespectful when addressing clients you have just met. Further, while knowledgeable, she offered various conspiracy theories about Van Gough (he was murdered rather then committing suicide; Gougan cut off Van Gough’s ear) and about the art world (dealers create shortages of art to drive prices and their profits up). The guide’s dialogue was very irritating.
