Overview
Spend a day in the great outdoors and experience the Chihuahua Desert during this canyon float tour. Paddle along the Rio Grande River, which straddles the US-Mexico border, in a kayak, canoe, or rafts—dependent on the water level—and take in the desert scenery. Learn about the area’s geology from your guide, take a dip in the river, and enjoy a picnic over the course of the day.

We will meet at our office 53570 Firestation Road,Terlingua. It is located on Hwy 118, 3 blocks North (towards Alpine) of the junction of Hwy 118 & Hwy 170 (gas station).The meet up time is 9 a.m. Central Time Zone, watch your clocks to make sure you are in the right time zone as they can change!

Our recent float trip was amazing. It was as beautiful as the pictures show. The river was high due to rains but it was still a gentle and easy ride. We floated the Colorado and Black canyons. Our guide, Erin, was the best guide we’ve had on any vacation. Very friendly and easy to talk to. She was very knowledgeable about history, politics, cultures, the plants, and issues about the region. Made for an interesting and eye-opening experience.
We happily recommend this company for float trips on the Rio Grande.

We had a fantastic time with our younger kids. It was our first time trying this activity and we made lots of fun memories together. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, ensuring that we felt safe and comfortable at every stage of the float. We would definitely recommend this tour to others looking for a fun and family-friendly outdoor adventure.

My favorite parts were to see the Mexican Cowboys and the livestock freely adventuring. Additionally, the views were absolutely spectacular! We had a very clear day. :)

Our guide, Dillon, made this a great trip. From beginning to end, he provided us with all the information we needed to stay safe and have an interesting and enjoyable experience. We had one day in Big Bend NP and during the trip into and out of the park he gave us many hiking tips and ideas for our much longer (once we retire) return trip to the park. The canoe trip was just about the right length, lunch was at a beautiful spot right off the Rio Grande and the take in/take out is at a nice venue that includes restrooms. The value that you get for this trip is outstanding.

What an amazing day! Our float was gorgeous. The views are spectacular from the water. It was quiet and peaceful and we saw burros, horses, tons of birds, and fish.
The team at Big Bend Hiking and Boating Tours was great! They were knowledgeable about the area, had tons of history to share, and were passionate and experienced on the water. Not only were the guys friendly, you could tell they loved their jobs. We had a great time and would highly recommend this adventure. Thank you to Dylan and the rest of the guys!

Erin was a Fantastic Guide!! She gave us a History lesson & a Geological Lesson on the way down to our launch. She’s a Female Bear Grylls!! High Energy & knows her stuff. I would highly recommend her!! Definitely will be coming back!!
