Unbelievable

Amazing!!!!! Such great guides and amazing sites!! We saw 10 different manta!! Shady Brent did us great!
No other choice choose Dolphin Discoveries.
Kevin_M, Apr 2024
The team at Dolphin Discoveries made this experience unforgettable. Not only were they able to answer every question and put everybody at ease but they provided a guided experience that has exceeded many adventures. They were a seamless unit in lock step with every move. The experience with the manta rays was amazing. To be up close and personal enough to sense the power the animals have was amazing. They swim with grace and are so peaceful. One in our party was extremely nervous but within 10 minutes was enjoying every aspect of the experience. If you have a choice I’d recommend Dolphin Discoveries as your guides.
10000/10

An unbelievable experience. Regardless of the rays, the crew was incredible and very well trained. They ensured our safety at all times, took people back to the boat when requested, and got us as close as we could to the rays. Highlight of our trip was this experience. It became very rocky on the water at the end, but the crew was very professional guiding us through the entire tour.
Wonderful to see this protected species

Wonderful night with at least 5 different mantas. Pam was great and provided a lot of knowledge and information.
This is an amazing experience.
Heather_K, Mar 2024
This was an amazing experience. We have pet sting rays in Mexico and at the aquarium, but this was the highlight of our trip. It should be more clear that check in and launch are not at the same location. You can not walk from the check in where you get your suit to the launch you'll need 2 Ubers or a car. Parking is very limited, go early. Do not let any of that stop you this is an amazing experience.
Highly recommended

Did you visit the Big Island? Manta rays are a must. The sunset from the boat and the manta rays that came in front of my eyes was an unforgettable experience for the rest of my life.
Breathe taking experience

It was great we went to check in and the place was a little hard to find but we found it and then once we got there we were put on a boat of 30 something people which was enough space and then we got in the water which wasn’t as cold as I though and right as we got in we saw mantas swimming around and we probably saw 8 to 9 it was awesome and the crew was so helpful. Would definitely do this again
AMAZING

The crew was so friendly...
Teresa_G, Mar 2024
The crew was so friendly and knowledgeable. My kids had a great time. I would recommend doing this while you’re in Hawaii.
Would not do it again
Heinz_K, Mar 2024
Guides were terrific, but the experience was underwhelming. Brief glimpses of manta rays in blue light. Got sea sick from the rough waves. Definitely would not do again.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Aloha Heinz, Sorry you didn't enjoy your manta ray snorkel adventure. Manta Rays are wild animals the amount of interaction you receive with the rays is completely up to the manta rays. Every individual reacts to seasickness differently. We are disappointed that you rated us so low on events that are not within our control. Safe travels.
Worth it.
family4, Mar 2024
Be prepared to wait for the build-up of plankton before the rays arrive. And it gets really cold in water, even with the provide wetsuit tops, but you warm up afterwards. It is so worth it.
Rough and scary. Manta rays were cool. But the water was so rough.
Sara_P, Feb 2024
The water was so rough. It was pretty scary. The wind was blowing so hard. Not a wonderful experience overall.
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Aloha Sara, Mahalo for joining us on our manta ray snorkel adventure. We understand that everyone has different tolerance for water activities. We never place our guests in an unsafe environment. We are sorry that you didn't have a wonderful experience. We will look at ways to manage our guest's expectations. Safe travels.
Just do it!

After having our experience cancelled twice with another provider, I quickly booked this one the night before. I was extremely nervous since they had availability and others were already sold out. I shouldn’t have worried because it was an amazing experience. The boat took us around the corner where other boats already had people in the water. We had a one guide for every six participants. (There were only 12 on the boat). The manta rays were awesome. I would recommend everyone do it. The company even provided prescription goggles for my husband who forgot to bring contacts.

Gordon_M, Feb 2024
To see so many Manta Rays and to have them come so close to me, one knocked out my snorkel mouth piece, it was amazing!
Awesome

We had such a good time. I definitely would recommend this to anyone! The crew members were wonderful!
Dinner party at a Manta Ray’s home
Anastasia_K, Jan 2024
If you ever dreamt of being invited to a dinner party at a Manta Ray’s home – this is your chance! What a unique and memorable experience to be able to see these gigantic, graceful creatures in their own environment. It surely does make you feel like a guest and appreciate the magic of the ocean so much more! Check in was seamless (you get your wetsuits and snorkels), the staff and crew were great – fun and very accommodating. The whole experience is about 1 hour and the boat ride to the Manta Village is only 5 minutes each way but come prepared if you do get seasick -you will be floating in the water for 45 minutes (unless you decide to get up on the boat early which is an option). We saw 3 different Mantas, it was amazing! The crew did a great job of navigating the flotation devices to improve the chances of seeing Mantas while communicating with the guests and giving fun points and facts about marine life and the location. Even though Manta Rays are the main event, watching the plankton illuminated in the dark water was a wonderful sideshow – there is so much life! I would definitely do this again! One more side note - I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone with any shoulder issues, or anyone who cannot hold their arms above their head for extended periods – you will be essentially floating superman style holding on to a flotation device the whole time, call the Dolphin Discoveries to see if they offer the same experience with less swimming or check out other options available.
Weather cancelation
Rebecca_a, Jan 2024
The Manta Ray experience was canceled due to weather . We were notified and the refund is in process
Response from Host, Jan 2024
Aloha Rebecca, We are sorry we had to cancel, but the ocean conditions were unsafe for us to operate. We notified TripAdvisor to refund you. We are not certain this warranted a 3 star rating for something that was out of our control. Aloha.
Amazing rays, horrible crew
Anthony_S, Jan 2024
The Manta experience off the Big Island is an absolutely amazing experience and there are many tour operators offering it. Just don't choose Dolphin Discoveries. While they covered all the basics, the crew was absolutely rude and negligent. I had a problem with one of the straps on my snorkel mask. They offered me another one which had the same problem. When I pointed that out I got berated for "breaking" it and then the staffer on the boat and the boat captain pouted and shook their heads while they found me a working mask. What was worse, while in the water, a woman across from me was having a terrible time and was panicking. The guide seemed completed unaware of her situation so I spent a lot of time in water trying to reassure this poor woman. The crew could have easily gotten her back onto the boat. To be clear, the rays are magnificent and were the highlight of our trip, but choose another operator that respects it guests.
Response from Host, Jan 2024
Aloha, We are sorry to hear about your experience. A member of our management team will be reaching out to you soon. Mahalo,
Thrilling Kona night manta snorkel
Sheri_M, Jan 2024
We saw many Manta’s. I like hearing about each Manta. Our Guide Doc was happy to give us history on the Manta’s he could identify. Even though Doc was in training, he made our experience better. Likely because he was excited about his job and still had wonder for these truly majestic creatures!
