First timers in Colombia

Seeing the cathedral was a very cool experience. It would have been nice if there was a guided tour option in English but my husband and I were able to enjoy it on our own. Two hours was more than enough to see everything and we still had time to visit the shops down there as well.

Cathedral is amazing, timing on the tour was a problem for us.

The cathedral itself is amazing, highly suggested! The town is very cute and has a lot of little shops and restaurants that cook their meats in the window in a giant wood fire. Delicious, for sure. The tour… well, grateful for the ride but we didn’t have enough time in the cathedral and felt rushed so that we could hurry and wait for the bus. We did not have much time to shop around either, which is fine when it’s communicated. After leaving the cathedral, we ate at a restaurant and were rushed to walk to the town square then rushed to walk back to the restaurant for the bus to pick us up. Allowing for folks to do their own thing and providing times to be back would’ve been ideal. It felt like we did a lot of hurrying to wait. But to be fair, we are wanderers so if you like a bit of autonomy, this might not be for you. If you don’t mind the hustle of a here to there and back tour, might be just fine.

I wish there was better food

I understand the tour operators have to make money by establishing relationships, but please pick a restaurant that is half decent in quality and value. Would have to give it 3 starts not because of the trip there and back but because of where we were taken (like lambs) to have lunch. The operator should clarify we have a choice to skip lunch or go to some other place to eat. The trip itself there and back is good. The food at the restaurant would get a zero. Over priced and low low quality.

The tour group consisted of both Spanish speaking and English speaking tourists, but the bilingual group leader made us all feel welcome. The trip included a stop at Zipaquira to see the town square, a trip to the salt cathedral with audio guides, and a stop at a restaurant. Overall a great day trip for tourists visiting Bogota.

We were really excited to go on this tour. Our tour guide, Osbaldo, was friendly accommodating and knowledgeable. We were his first stop and he kept us informed of how many more people will be joining our group. If you travel during the pandemic then the group size matter!! Safety protocols were followed all the time, so my husband and I felt comfortable during the duration of the tour. Lunch was not included with the tour but time was blocked for us to have lunch on our own. While we were at the Cathedral, Osbaldo reserved a table at a wonderful restaurant with authentic Colombian food and charm. The food was really good!! Zipaquira Salt Cathedral tour is one that you can’t miss. It’s a must do if you travel to Bogotá.

Bad experience for non-Spanish speakers

Bad experience for non Spanish speakers. First, there is no guide in EN. They just give you an audio guide - which is given anyway by the salt cathedral organisation. Second, there is no organisation about the time we arrive and we leave from salt mine. Since we could not speak Spanish, we didn’t know what to do. We waited for almost an hour for a couple that just decided to spend one more hour in the mine. The tour is not a tour; it’s just transportation to the salt mine. Nothing more. I would give one star, but I gave two because we had a very polite driver (who didn’t speak EN at all)

The above taking into account that we are very clear on the platform about what is included in the service and you can decide if you want to take it that way before paying and not wait for something that we are not offering. This group and economic tour is an option for those who cannot pay or do not want to take a private tour but still want to know the beautiful places of our city and surroundings. We also offer private tours with an english guide throughout the tour and many more benefits but it would cost you 2 or 3 times more than what you paid. On the platform it is clear that a driver in spanish is included who accompanies you and takes care of you, audio guide inside the attraction in the desired language, insurance during the tour against any eventuality, time to visit the attraction, the town and for lunch, kit of biosecurity, you should not stand in line for payment because our entrance is already included and you go directly to the entrance, 24 hour service and above all meeting beautiful people on the group tour, this is much more than taking a taxi or uber. Additionally, the driver is clear in informing the time to see each other again and out of respect for our clients if people do not arrive at the indicated time, the car continues its journey. It is important that before deciding to buy the tour you can see all the details, otherwise you can choose a private tour that will include more things but also its value will be much higher.
