What To Expect

Make your way to The Tasting Table, located at Bródy Sándor utca 9, Budapest 1088. Admire the 19th-century wine cellar's vaulted ceilings, under which you'll meet the resident sommelier. This wine expert will be your guide for the entire tasting experience, and is open to any questions you may have about the wine or wine-making regions.

Hear about the artisanal cheese and charcuterie revival in Hungary after the end of the Communist era. Taste some of the country’s best examples, including beef sausage, smoked duck breast, free-range water buffalo salami, and mangalica pork sausages. Sip five glasses of wine made from indigenous Hungarian grape varietals, including some local wines that are hard to find elsewhere.

Excellent event

Fab location downstairs in a cellar, out of the 28 degree heat. Lovely food. We tasted five wines. Very knowledgeable sommelier. Great atmosphere and other people there were lovely. Fabulous hosts. Really relaxed. 5* event.
Highly recommend. Excellent hosts, wine, food.

This is a legitimate, informative and delicious experience. Having come off a disaster ‘Bites of Budapest Tour’ this was a pleasant and much-needed tasting. The hosts were warm and knowledgeable. Wine was fantastic. Made me rethink Hungarian wines. We each got a charcuterie board. Great way to spend two hours.
The worst ever
Ann_L, May 2024
It was the worst experience ever! We felt unsafe, the guide was unprofessional, they took us to a hostel that had barbed wire and they locked the gate when we arrived. Served water in solo cups and then tried to serve wine in the same cups. When we asked to leave the guide didn’t show is how to unlock the gate, the bathroom was filthy and the kitchen not much better. Never never take this tour I am asking for my money back
Response from Host, May 2024
Hello, You were booked on our wine tasting on May 2nd, and then you changed the date to May 1st. You were a no-show at our tasting, and the tasting proceeded without you. What you describe here is clearly not our business and our venue. The tasting takes place at the same location where the guests meet (Brody Sandor utca 9, Budapest 1088). So the guests are not taken anywhere else by a guide. There is no hostel anywhere near us! There is no barbed wire or no locked doors! We use crystal wine glasses, not solo cups. Sorry you had a bad tasting experience, but this was not our tasting that you experienced.
A wonderful experience of Hungarian wines without leaving Budapest.

What a great way to learn the history and culture of Hungarian wine making. Our host John was knowledgeable, passionate and entertaining during our time together. It was a tour of Hungary without leaving Budapest.
Informative, fun and friendly

A great selection of wine, felt like you got decent sizes of each rather than just a mouthful. The accompanying food was delicious and so well paired. The cellar itself was lovely, the perfect temperature event on a wet and windy cold day in April. A perfect amount of education and information before getting stuck into enjoying each wine. My only negative is popping across the road to buy a couple of the bottles we had tasted, the guy in the shop was not very friendly or welcoming and didn’t know which wines we had tasted so I had to go back across to the cellar to ask. But other than that, brilliant!
Wonderful experience!

Our host (Christhof?) was extremely knowledgeable about the wines. He did a great job of explaining the history of Hungarian wines and their successes and struggles throughout time. We have gained a new respect for Hungarian wine.
Wine and cheese tasting!

The host was full of knowledge, he was friendly and a good sense of humour. Everything was laid out nicely and they were very efficient with making sure you had everything you needed.

Excellent experience that I would recommend to anyone. The host was knowledgeable and even added some humor from time to time.
Worth the detour.

Good quality wines, good food pairing, good wines explanations. Well done. But mind your head. Low entry.
Great afternoon in Budapest
Michelle_D, Mar 2024
Enjoyed our afternoon learning about Hungarian wines, meat and cheese. They sommelier was very knowledgeable and super helpful!
Kenny_C, Mar 2024
Would have given 5 stars as myself and wife thoroughly enjoyed the wine tasting experience with the sommelier extremely knowledgeable throughout However the day was spoilt when we went across the road to the shop to buy the white wine which we sampled at the wine experience. It was shown on the list provided at the wine tasting as Gedeon Winery 2022 12.5%. We selected this wine at the price provided from the shelf within the shop took it to the person behind the counter who unknown to our knowledge changed it to a Gedeon 2023 11.5%!! Just checked bottle when opened and sampled Same wine I know but different alcohol volume Wouldn’t have bothered buying if known in advance
Highly recommend

Tasty and fun
Josh_M, Jan 2024
Our Sommelier, Carlos, was excellent and knew the wines very well. The wines themselves were very tasty and represented a good variety of different types of wine, they were also also excellently paired with a generous selection of Hungarian cheese and meats, all of which were delicious. It was good to experience some of the wine culture of Hungary and sample some truly excellent wine. We left feeling a lovely buzz and having had a really good experience.

This was a great few hours tasting local wines with some great cheeses and meats! We enjoyed it! All the wines were great, 2 whites, 2 reds and a dessert wine.
Fantastic Experience
Tayla_W, Jan 2024
This wine tasting was everything we could've hoped for! Our sommelier was so intelligent, energetic, down to earth, and humorous, which really enhanced the experience. The 5 wines we sampled were all different and fantastic in their own way, and we learned so much about Hungarian wine production. The meat and cheese spread was paired with each wine, and we left with full tummies and a perfect buzz. This is one of the best wine experiences I've had, book this now!!!
Just do it

Fun way to test some delicious hungarian wines and cheese/ham and to get interesting infos about wine - would recommend! The team was very nice, the tasting was with about 25 people, the room was perfect too. Really nice experience, if you are interested in wine :)
Wish we could have done it again!

My husband and I had a wonderful experience! Very knowledgeable guide on Hungarian wine, warm welcoming environment, VERY generous pours of wine, beautiful spread of meats, cheeses, bread. One of the best decisions we made on our trip to Budapest was this!
Loved it
Nasia_T, Dec 2023
Very nice experience, everyone was very welcoming , we liked the food , the wine and the host explained everything thoroughly. The groups are small of less than 10 people which made the experience even more special . The space is very cozy and does not feel touristy . Imo its worth the money, I would go again.
