Why?
Albert_C, Mar 2024
We don’t know why the tour guide skipped this spot and wasted so much time in the lunch site instead ?
Great Experience
Melissa_M, Mar 2024
We had a fantastic day out. It’s always going to be a long drive to chichen itza but so worth it and Tony gave us a brilliant and informative presentation on the way which broke up the journey. He really knows his stuff and is so passionate about it all. The cenote bit was INCREDIBLE. A lovely way to cool down and then followed by a brilliant buffet. They catered to vegetarians very well! We enjoyed the stop at Valladolid and the tequila tasting but would have liked a bit more time in this place to explore. Be prepared for a long day but it’s so worth it! Thank you very much to Tony and Ivan.
Chichén Itza & Chichikan cenote

Our tour guide, Victor, was AWESOME!! Very well planned and easy to book this trip. Saw several cool spots along the way. It was our first cenote experience, and we loved it?
Amazing tour of Chichen Itza
Subhashis_N, Mar 2024
Our guide, Caesar picked us up from our hotel around the time as promised . The bus-journey was long (about 150 minutes). Instead of visting Chichen Itza at the very beginning, we were driven to a souvenir shop and restaurant - slightly away from the main attraction. The heat of the mid-day sun made it quite uncomfortable, when we finally entered the complex of Chichen Itza. We had to rent a large umbrella to protect us from the sun's piercing rays. Caesar told us the intriguing history of the temples. Casear clapped his hands around the temples so that we could hear the echo. Casar informed us that this echo was used by the Mayan rulers to eavesdrop on the conversation of their rival rulers gathered around the playground to watch ball game in the compound. The pyramidical temple was carved out by hand from limstone slabs Caesar.told us We spent about two hours there and then visted the Cenote, where we had a delcious buffet Mexican lunch. Finally we visited the unique colonial town of Valladolid, where we had the chance to taste shots of awesome tequila. By the time we retuned to our hotel it was almost 9 PM. The tour was long and the time could have been managed a little better, thus, reducing the total time for the tour, However, we think Casear did an excellent job of informing and entertaining us throughout the tour. Thus, we would not hesitate to recommend this tour to tourists to Chichen Itza conducted by the travelcompany SatMexico.

The trip itself was awesome. We are not the kind of people who book guided tours but we were pleasantly surprised by this tour. Our guide Toni made the tour come to life with his funny stories. One downside were the many hidden costs: the company informed us one day in advance that they would charge additional 40€ to cover transportation that had to be paid cash upon arrival. Weird. Then we had to buy life vests (to rent) to swin in the cenote (additional 6€). Drinks are not included in the lunch. At the end Tony let us know that the company recommended to tip him and the driver another 5€. At this point, me and my girlfriend and the other guests laughed it off and ended an otherwise great day with an unpleasant feeling in our stomachs.
Great tour- once you’re on the bus
Melinda_J, Mar 2024
The actual tour was very good. Knowledgeable guide (Mike) and great driver. Beautiful locations & great food. The actual communication with the company regarding transportation was hideous. Pick up location was an extra $50 with 1 day notice. Email at 11pm with new pickup time the night before. Over one hour late picking us up in a completely different location so we had to arrange transportation to even get to the transportation! If I had to do over… I would not do it with the company that was contracted.
Amazing long day!
Elayna_V, Mar 2024
Thank you to Tony and our driver for a wonderful tour!! The day was long, but Tony does his best to make sure everyone is ok along the way! Visiting Chichen Itza is amazing and if you’re questioning doing this tour, just go for it! The cool down in the cenote afterwards is amazing! There is a final stop in a small town called Valladoid, which a lot of us were tired for, but it was still a great place to visit and learn a bit about the towns history! Muchas gracias!!
Great sites to see experience could have been better
Mark_C, Mar 2024
Chichen Itza is awesome to see. Our guide was great at sharing details on the history of the site as well as Mayans and Mayan culture. Jumping into the Cenote is a great experience. On the downside, transportation was a real downer. We understood it would be a twelve hour tour, so time in a bus is expected. However, we were the first picked up and last dropped off. When we made it back to Playa Del Carmen, they moved some us to a shuttle and we were the last ones unloaded from that shuttle. Their preparation instructions say to bring a sweater because the air conditioning can be really cold after a day in the sun. I don’t think it was run on the bus or shuttle the entire 4 hour return trip. It was stuffy. We would have loved to have needed the sweaters we brought with us! The Cenote Chichikan is cool for the Cenote itself. The restaurant staff was rude and uninterested in serving us. We were told of the great slow roasted pork (tender but very dry) and the spicy green chili sauce (completely empty). It’s a buffet, so you don’t expect top quality but it certainly could’ve been a lot better. After the Cenote and lunch stop, there was a short stop at a small town. The small town was nice to walk around. Overall good experience, but underwhelming in some ways.

Alfredo and Enrique were super nice tour guides! It was such a great experience and so interesting!!
Worth the money, bring cash with you & dont buy the hats.
Isabella_K, Mar 2024
Overall great bang for your buck, you still pay admission to chichen but for 2hr nice bus ride there, w a tour & the unlimited buffet with cenote it was very much worth it. Our driver was luis, the bus was A/C and comfy and not over packed.
Our tour guides Caesar...
Steve_L, Mar 2024
Our tour guides Caesar and Eduardo were great very experienced and all the history about the temples was very knowledgeable. We had a great time at every stop. The lunch was good Plenty of choices The swimming was great. Be ready to take a lot of steps. Be careful at the stores because they will try to cheat you. Watch your receipt for extra items. And wrong prices.
Very expensive additional payments required
Sophie_S, Mar 2024
The advertised cost of this trip was £55 however to participate in all the included activities it requires payment of an additional $51 ($43 for Chichen Itza entrance and $8 mandatory life jacket to swim in the cenote). This means if you pay a tip as well the additional cost is more than the actual cost of the tour. I don’t think £55 is a good price for essential transport, lunch and a guide. Also the advertising on viator is misleading as the page is titled as all inclusive and the ticket even said all inclusive on it.
Great guide

Excellent guide with nice sights. Water could have been provided to make the experience better. Overall, fun tour
Long day, but a lot to see
ajjacobson90, Mar 2024
I want to start by saying Alan was a wonderful tour guide- very knowledgeable, entertaining, and personable. Our bus driver, Alfredo, was also top notch. The tour overall is a long day- with hotel pickups/drop offs we were out for 14-15 hours. Our itinerary was changed to allow us to experience Chichen Itzá in the afternoon for the spring equinox, which was very cool to see, but the itinerary change was not communicated to us prior to the day of the excursion. If it had been, we would have dressed differently knowing we were going to Valladolid and the cenote first. Valladolid was very fun, but the time spent there was very short, and we would have liked more time. In contrast, we spent way too long (2 hours) at the buffet and cenote. The buffet was nothing special, and we did not end up swimming in the cenote because there were SO many people there- barely room to swim! The highlight of the day was Chichen Itza, of course. We enjoyed Alan’s tour of the property and the personal time we were given to explore and take pictures. We were a little overwhelmed by all of the vendors trying to sell souvenirs on the property, but overall had a nice time. In the end, it was a good day. The bus was big and air-conditioned, and all Sat Mexico staff were very kind. Definitely recommend downloading the Sat Mexico app for easy communication with the tour guides.
Great experience, messy logistics
Alvia_G, Mar 2024
The tour was excellent, thanks to our guides Viktor and Paul from Sat Mexico (operator group). They shared a lot of information and stories, a great learning experience to learn more about Mayans and Chichen Itza. Cenote was refreshing and lovely. I wish we had a bit more time to walk around Valladolid. That's the only thing lacking. As for booking the tour & logistics, it was very confusing to book on Viator. I was expecting to book all inclusive with all entry fees and hotel pick up included as stated. However, when I went to choose the hotel, my package changed to hotel pick up option (not all inclusive). So I was getting a lot of messages from Sat Mexico to purchase entry tickets. Also even though I paid for hotel pickup package, I had to pay extra for transportation day before tour. Even then, they did not pick up or drop off at hotel lobby. We had to walk to highway.
Good and bad
Victoria_E, Mar 2024
The tour guide Luis was amazing and the trip was great. The only downside was added expenses after booking - it tells you hotel pickup included from multiple places (including where we stayed “playa mujeres”) but after booking they contacted saying it was too far and we would have to pay another $10usd pp. Then they let us know the entrance tax for Chichen Itza is not included and that is another $46usd per person. So the surprise extra expenses were upsetting but the tour guide was fantastic and knowledgeable!
WONDERFUL AND KNOWLEDGEABLE
Linda_J, Mar 2024
Luis was our tour guide and he did a fantastic job with explaining about ancient history. Luis and driver were pleasant and helpful.
Fantabulous!
Thomas_J, Mar 2024
I loved the trip everything was fantastic I truly reccomend you ti ask for Raul Hugo and Rey. They are absolutely Amazing very knowledgeable and are very responsible tour guides
A must do!
Pat_A, Mar 2024
The pyramids at Chichén Itzá during the equinox were beautiful and even though it was crowded, it was well worth it. The Cenote was absolutely amazing to see and swim in. The stop at Valladolid was colorful and the food was delicious. Our driver Abraham and our guide Miriam were excellent. She is well educated and was very informative on the history and culture of the areas we got to explore. We would highly recommend booking this trip for a once in a lifetime experience.
Amazing Tour!
Anthony_E, Mar 2024
The sites were all amazing. Our guide, Cesar, was extremely insightful and entertaining as well. One of the best tours I have ever book on Viator!
