What To Expect

Choose from several departure times for convenient pickup from your Cancun or Playa del Carmen hotel. In a comfortable tour vehicle, travel to Rancho Bonanza, where you're introduced to your horse. Riders are matched with horses based on experience level; riders of all levels can be accommodated. Horses at Rancho Bonanza have been rescued, rehabilitated, and retrained.

Spend the next portion of the tour exploring the jungle, observing and learning about the local flora and fauna as you travel. You also learn about the local practice of making bubblegum from materials found in the peninsula's forest. Once you reach a natural cenote, or limestone sinkhole, dismount for a swim in the cool water. Towels are provided for you, but please bring your swimsuit if you plan on swimming.

Enjoy drinks and snacks before returning to Rancho Bonanza. Then catch your ride back to Cancun or Playa del Carmen for drop-off.

This was the very best! Learned so much about the jungle! We highly recommend this even if you never rode a horse before. Guides were always there to help and would led those riders untl they were comfortable. Their animals are loved and cared for. Would give them a 10 if we could!

Rancho Bonanza best day ever!
Trish_M, Mar 2024
Our family had such an amazing day at Rancho Bonanza, it really was the highlight of our trip. Paolas storytelling during our ride (& walk) was educational and fun. We rode Papilote, Cinnimon & Don Julio. All these animals have been given a 2nd chance at life, after various injuries and issues that may have lead them to become horse meat. They are doing excellent work at Rancho Bonanza & we are grateful for the chance to ride in this beautiful peaceful place & meet the horses & ranchers. We would definitely recommend this to everyone & plan on coming back next year.

Unforgettable experience!
Yasmine_B, Dec 2023
My daughters and I went horseback riding and swimming in a cenote, and the experience was amazing and unforgettable. This is exactly why I chose to travel with my daughters during the holidays—to teach them the value of life experiences. This trip was exactly what we needed. The horses were beautiful and well-maintained, and everything about this place was stunning. I highly recommend it. It even comes with a hilarious and awesome tour guide and a 'paparazzi' to capture your beautiful moments.
Transportation goof
Marcie_M, Dec 2023
Trip advisor on the phone screwed up transportation and the whole trip. I have been denied cab ride fare getting there. I’d like a manager to call me. Not fair and a long story but made for stressful adventure The horse ranch guide made transportation ride arrangements for us thankfully.
Great ride in the jungle
Celine_F, Nov 2023
My best friend and I really enjoyed this tour. The guides and cowboys are all super friendly and you can tell how much they care about the horses. All the horses have been rescued and rehabilitated so they can live an easy comfortable life taking leisurely jungle walks. Our guide also told us about the Mayan connection with all the different trees around us as well as the cenote. Highly recommend this tour to anyone, horse back riders of all experience because it was very enjoyable and I could see all the good work they are doing with the animals!
scam

Never got picked up. We wrote the operator multiple times but he didn‘t answer in time. also they won‘t refund. better don‘t waste your money on this scam.
Great Experience

I’m sorry to be writing this review so late! I thought I had left one already, but apparently I did not. The trip was very memorable and the guides were outstanding. They even helped me work on my Spanish along the way. I love that the horses used are rescues. An appropriate horse was chosen and we were also given information about the local flora and fauna. The cenote swim was outstanding and everyone should do it at least once. We are planning on returning to the Riviera Maya in the next year or so and I will definitely do this again.
The ride was nice, though...
MICHELLE_H, Jul 2023
The ride was nice, though definitely meant for beginners. Loved the educational aspect of the activity: history, plants/trees/animals, and the legends. The swim in the cenote was nice, though very brief.
Great experience!

Great experience! Staff was super kind and gave great history. Horses are well cared for. Not rushed.
Favorite outing
Lori_K, Apr 2023
This was so much fun. Paula was our guide and spoke English with a headset. There is also a Spanish speaking guide. Paula was sweet and well informed. I asked for a gentle horse and they gave me Cinnamon, who was a perfect angel. The cenote was afterward. There is a place to change clothes, shower, and towels, provided as well as 2 bottles of water during ride and cenote and snacks. The cenote has steps or you can jump off a short rock. It was our favorite outing.
Horrible
JOHN_M, Apr 2023
They refused access and ruined our day and we could ride and they didn't care so I would NOT recommend
Beautiful way to experience the jungle
Cameron_L, Apr 2023
Great experience. Really nice horse ride through the jungle paths. Lovely way to see things. Julio was my horse and Lily was my guide. Both were great. Everything was very well organised and professionally run. From being picked up in the morning on time, met at arrival, meeting the horses, safety briefings to the riding. There was one guide on horse per customer so you were personally supervised for the entire ride. I had no riding experience and everything was easy. Would highly recommend this trip.
Wonderful Excursion
Megan_L, Mar 2023
Our guide Lily was wonderful. She was funny and explained the culture and agriculture of the area so well. I had fun and learned so much about the Mayan people. I also love that every horse at the ranch is a rescue. And I saw a wild pig!
New Experience and loved it!
Undraia_J, Mar 2023
Fun experience! I was a little worried since Ive never rode a horse before. We were well taken care of by the crew there. Both Lily and Paula were great! It was a great combination of activities. If you’re scared of water though, the cenote is pretty deep.

Excellent staff Great safety Wonderful combo of riding, seeing the jungle , history of the area , and swimming in the cenote. It was wonderful. The experience accommodates beginners for sure
Amazing time
Thomas_S, Sep 2022
Wow. Everything from the transport to the welcome to the riding and cenote was over the top good. Yes you ride the horses and it is lovely winding through the jungle but there is so much more. You learn about the trees, hear stories, meet animals and try the honey they make on site. The cenote is beautiful and private and so beautiful and you are well looked after with drinks and a snack. A lovely experience.
Loved it!
Fatima_J, Aug 2022
It was a great experience. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Loved riding the horse and learning more about the Mayan culture/history. The cenote swim was the perfect way to end our adventure!
