Overview

Take a two-part jungle tour of the Nichupte Lagoon. First, enjoy a guided tour of the lagoon and learn about its importance to the local ecosystem. Navigate through mangrove forests and look for marine and amphibious life, then drive your own speedboat around the lagoon. Along the way, partake in some snorkeling along the world’s second-largest reef.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

Everyone was very nice and it was a well organized and awesome experience. We had tons of fun and the snorkeling was super cool. I took off a star for two reasons : the address given on the ticket wasn't the correct address and we ended up in the wrong place, having the Uber driver change directions twice. Also, not that I care much about it but it does mention a snack and none was provided, just a water bottle. Otherwise it was an absolute blast and we loved it.

For starters, they were late picking us up. Our resort was less than 5 minutes away and apparently they forgot us. Upon arriving I was asked to pay a fee. The cashier charged me in pesos and I asked her was the amount correct and she stated yes. I was with my kids all under 18. I told her we needed a 4-seater but that was ignored. My 17 year old had to drive one of the boats and it was horrific. My 17 year old and 14 year old were at the back of the line. They were waving for help and were basically ignored. I went over in my boat to see what the problem was and the tour guided yelled at me. Once we were finally done, some man came looking for me and stated that they cashier made a mistake and charged me in pesos instead of US dollars. If I was not in another country I would not have paid because I clearly asked her when I paid upon arrival. Just use another company where all the fees are calculated before hand and your safety is priority. The winds was very high and not ideal to drive a boat in. If I could have got a refund before going I would have. I do not recommend them at all!

The tour was great, but our tour guide not so much. It's as if he was rushing us. We went out on the water last and came back first before everyone else. The speed boat was fun and the snorkeling was too. The Mayan warriors performed a dance ceremony which was amazing but the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because of the guide. He wasn't the best.

The boat ride part was really fun. Unfortunately, the snorkeling part of our tour was canceled due to weather. They said we could drive longer instead which was okay until one of the boats in our group died and we had to all head back. The Mayan ceremony was a nice attempt to entertain but not super impressive. Overall was a good experience and the staff was great!

Tour was super fun. The boating was great and so was snorkeling. I wish the ceremony part was optional so we could have had longer in the snorkel reef. The transport and dock fee should come in the price so you know what you are paying up front

Tour name not fully indicative of actual excursion

We found the excursion average. Let's start with the name: "Mayan Jungle Tour: Speed boat, Snorkel & Snack." Indeed we got the speed boat and snack, but not the snorkel because the day we went, the guides explained that the current weather had caused choppiness on the water, through which we may not enjoy driving the speedboat. Furthermore, they also suggested that the choppiness would cause limited snorkeling visibility. They gave us the choice of going through with the snorkeling, or simply take the speedboat on a sightseeing ride through more protected areas that would not be so choppy. We opted for the sightseeing as my kids had some fears. Anyway, we appreciate that the guides gave us the choice which resulted from a factor out of their control...the weather. Never the less, at the start of the excursion we were provided a Mayan heritage performance. I have no problem with getting exposed to a show or demonstration like what we experienced, but the fact is that the tour name did not suggest this element, nor do I recall if the tour description stated we'd see such a show. The problem here is that this show occupied approximately 45 minutes of the excursion time so this effectively removed the equivalent amount of time that we possibly could have spent out on the water. We also found ourselves surprised that the tour operator charged us the transportation fee after a Viator support rep via the online chat explicitly told us we would not be charged for the transport (supported by copy of the chat log in my possession that Viator emailed to me). We understood we'd have to potentially pay something for transport - and Viator makes that very clear - but when we tried to better understand based on our hotel location if we'd be charged (and if so, how much?) the Viator chat support rep told us we would not pay, even after we disclosed our hotel's full address. So at tour check-in, we had to wait a little while till we could sort out the issue. We reached agreement with the operator to pay a reduced fee. In summary, we could not fully appreciate or enjoy this excursion because we did not do the snorkeling. I would advise anyone considering this excursion first to verify his/her hotel location in relation to the tour departure point which will help prevent any misunderstandings about potential transport fees. Second, do have in mind that your total excursion time will include the Mayan heritage performance. Otherwise, we found the staff and guides very nice and helpful. They showed concern for safety and well-being, but were also not shy about soliciting for tips.

Incredible experience

This was a incredible experience!!! First we got a purified by the Mayan people to cleanse out any bad energy or negativity. Then we got to drive the speedboats 🚤 for about 30-45 then we are able to snorkel to see the coral reef 🪸 and tropical fish. After the tour was over we got lunch. For the price it’s definitely worth it!! They offer pickup if you are in the hotel zone area. You do have to pay 20$ for the dock fee when you get there just a heads up.

Unprofessional & False Advertisement

Let’s start with the check in process. In the ad and also the ticket/voucher they send it says it’s $20 for a docking fee and $8 for taxes. When the person reached out via messaging they also reminded us of it. No problem because it was expected, but once we got to check in the ladies in the front said it was per person so it was actually going to be $56 total. We didn’t bring additional cash and we argued the fact that it didn’t say that. They thought we didn’t speak Spanish and the older lady started talking about us and being disrespectful. Multiple couples around us had the same issue. For the sake of moving on we decided to pay through Apple Pay. False advertisement at its finest. Then we started the Mayan presentation. It was okay, the performers didn’t do anything wrong but the people working it were very pushy about making sure we tipped. Once we got to the speed boat it was a blast but towards the end on our way back we had to slow down because the lead tour guide stopped to wave at his friend and we almost hit him. We tried to catch up after that but he left us in the dust. As we started pulling up to the dock, we heard him (“Flash”) say in Spanish that because of us (our group) and the “morenos” which is blacks in Spanish we made the whole group behind. This is completely uncalled for and disrespectful. Lastly, the snorkeling was okay. Unfortunately they use cheap equipment so a lot of us kept having to stop because it was hard to make a seal on the mouth piece. Overall this activity left a bad taste in our mouth and it’s been our worst excursion in Cancun.

This was a real good time. At the beginning you watch a 15-20 show and receive a Blessing from the Mayans, they allow you to come up by group if you'd like. The speed boats are a good time and they take you far out then snorkel for about 25-30 mins then come back. You'll Enjoy it! At the end they give you a snack and you can purchase pictures! Tips are good as well.

Hector was awesome. The Mayan ceremony was awesome. The speedboat was super awesome lol. We didn’t snorkel but we people watched and offered photo services to our tour mates lol. Snack afterwards was good too.

Speed Boat FUN!!!

We enjoyed the blessing before going out on the speed boats. Our Guide Fox did an excellent job at keeping us all together and was a great guide. The boats are the best part of the tour and have good speed as our boat had a 50hp Honda motor and with three people in the boat it moved fast. I would suggest they get a latter that can be used on multiple boats for getting back into the boats as it is difficult getting back into the boat after snorkeling and do not want to see anyone get injured. The tacos were okay and need more meat in them as mine only had half a teaspoon of meat if not less than that. I thought that was weird but they tasted good. I would do this tour again, but only the speed boat portion.
