We get this tour underway as soon you dock and will allow 30 minutes for you to disembark and find your guide. So if your arrival time is 8 am, then the tour start time is 8:30 am (or sooner if everyone arrives), and if your arrival time is 9 am, then we start at 9:30 am (or sooner), and so on. We don't specify a time on a ticket as there can be variations and delays. If for some reason your ticket has a time listed, please disregard this and know that your guide is waiting for you upon your arrival. We ask everyone to make their way off the ship as quickly as possible so that your fellow guests aren't waiting for too long. If all guests have not arrived within a half hour, the tour will depart. Your guide (wearing a blue shirt or jacket) will be parked close to the ship. Generally speaking, the guides can always be found parked between the ship and the large buses. When in doubt, as someone where to find Cabot Discovery Tours and usually someone will point you in the direction. There are lots of people coming off at once so we try our best to ensure we can be found easily. There are two docks at the Port of Sydney. We will pick you up at whichever dock you arrive. If you arrive at Liberty Pier, there may be someone who points you in the direction of the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion where the Main Dock is located. Please do not get on the shuttle as your guide will be at Liberty Pier waiting for you. Regarding weather: This tour travels rain or shine. We cannot guarantee good weather or clear views but we do try our best to plan around weather if we can. We will never cancel the tour on the day of arrival unless you ship doesn't dock. If your ship docks, and we are there to provide the tour, then the tour will be conducted as scheduled.

We weren't blessed with the best weather but Brian made the tour interesting with his stories and knowledge of Cape Breton and the Cabot Trail. The light rain actually brought out the beautiful fall colours of the trees and he made sure we had enough stops to take photos.

We booked this excursion as it had everything we wanted to see.
Dave was our personal driver, as it was just husband and I as another couple cancelled.
Dave was very informative and a pleasure to be with. OK the weather wasn't great but we got all the information we needed and had a great time.

Bryan, our guide, was excellent and kept you both informed and entertained for the entire tour. The small group in a comfortable van was much preferred to the large busses offered by the cruise lines, not requiring 15 minutes to exit and re-board at each stop. I took three cruise sponsored tours and two Viator tours during my trip. Both Viator tours far exceeded the value offered by the ship. Two of the ship tours were late departing, thus shortened times at the stops. The cruise tour to Peggy's Cove was late, leaving 25 minutes to see the tour highlight if you skipped the 10 minute wait to use the facilities. Both Viator tours contained many stops for sights and offered rest breaks as needed. I was so disgusted with one cruise sponsored tour that I demanded my money back. Try Viator and you will never take another over priced, over-rated and crowded tour offered by the cruise lines.

Although I gave 3 stars, I would recommend to others who were looking for this type of experience. This was over 7.5 hours in a 15 passenger vehicle, driving up and back into the countryside and along the coast (and the seating was kind of tight). Frank, our guide, was very nice, knowledgeable and informative. No fault of his—I just felt it was too long to be seeing the same views. Lots of getting in the van, out of the van, back in the van, to take photos that looked very similar to the last stop. We shortened our lunch stop in order to have more time on the road! So—understand what this excursion is and you may love it. I saw people nodding off and felt that way, too.

Brian was an excellent tour guide. We really enjoyed the journey. Simply for awareness people need to be aware this is an out and back tour as there is no way to make a full circle. The trip is worth it, but you are in the van for many hours. However, Brian was good at stopping at many attractive points along the route. We saw beautiful scenery and learned a lot about the area.

Our guide was knowledgeable, and he shared his affection toward Cape Breton. He had to adjust the trip, because the ship shortened our time in port. We enjoyed our trip, and we especially enjoyed watching a Cormorant leisurely drying his wings.
