Darker Than You Might Think
Mary_H, Mar 2024
We had a large group on our tour, which was fine with me because I felt safe walking around with so many people. Avery was our tour guide, and he somehow managed to keep things upbeat and lively while conveying a lot of sobering information about the dark side of Chicago’s history. I think many people go on a walk like this expecting it to be entertaining and a little kitschy (as I did), but I came away from it with a fresh appreciation for the dangers that lurk beneath the surface of this storied place. Be advised that it is two hours of walking (with some stops).
Best tour in Chicago!

Avery was a great Narrator, very personable, and had some great jokes! My son had a great time as we were in Chicago for his 13th birthday. Thank you for a great evening learning about ghosts and gangsters!
Interesting, but not worth the price.

Nice to walk around the city, have a tour guide, etc. We learned new facts about Chicago's history with criminals, but some info we already knew. I'm not sure if it was worth the price, though. Maybe if it were more interactive.

Fun Sunday afternoon tour with family. We were all first timers of the tour and Baylor was a great guide. She was very informative, friendly and humorous in the way she delivered all of the ghost tales. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone traveling to Chicago and looking for a different kind of history lesson.

Conor was a very knowledgeable and charming guide, who was able to recreate 19th century Chicago in a compelling way. He also answered all of my Chicago curiosities—both tour and non-tour related—with ease. His bespoke list of Chicago recommendations and nuggets of Chicago history were especially appreciated.
