Your Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu 2-day adventure tour by train in Peru starts with easy pickup in Cusco.

On day one, your first stop is a short one in Awana Kancha to learn about Peruvian textiles and weaving before moving on to a lookout stop in Taray to take in views of the Sacred Valley and Urubamba River.

Next, spend a few hours in Pisac as your guide tells you about Incan agricultural methods used here in the past and you take in more great views. Head to the Pisac Market with your guide to barter for souvenirs, such as pottery and textiles.

After the market, your group stops in Urubamba for lunch (own expense), and then it’s off to Ollantaytambo with a visit to the Archaeological Park Ollantaytambo.

Your journey of the day continues with a drop-off at the train station in Ollantaytambo to board an Inca Rail train headed for Aguas Calientes. Enjoy the beautiful views on the train on your way for an overnight at a hotel in Aguas Calientes.

On day two, after an included breakfast, your guide takes you to the nearby bus station to ride a bus up to Machu Picchu. Once your arrive at the Incan citadel, tour the grounds with a guide to get more out of your visit, and then also get free time to explore independently at your own pace.

Take the bus back to Aguas Calientes for free time and lunch (own expense) before taking the train back to Ollantaytambo for yet another drive back to Cusco for drop-off.

Wonderful guide to a wonder of the world!
      Ben_M, Apr 2024
Michael Flores is a lively and knowledgeable guide, his experience and enthusiasm for the history of the sacred valley, Machu Picchu and the entirety of the Inca culture, made the entire two day experience a wonderful time. The itinerary is packed full Michael shared with us the history and insights each location culminating at Machu Picchu. He is also very fun and kind giving plenty of time to stop and take photos if you would like. I great experience highly recommend!
Ask for a refund if you don’t get vistadome both ways
      Jaydev_P, Apr 2024
Overall good service but ask for a refund if you don’t get vistadome each way if that’s what you’ve booked
      Response from Host, Apr 2024
Hi Jaydev, First of all I would like to thank you for travelling with us and taking your time to write your feedback about our services. In 2024 due to opetational reasons from Perurail (the train company) Vistadome is not longer available both ways. They only have one way on the return way. for that reason we advised and adjusted rates. Instead we provided you a private tour both tdays with our tour guide Luis only 2 people in the sacred valley and 2 people in Machupicchu. Thank you for your advise and rates has been corrected already since January 2024 ofering one way Vistadome train and one way economy class train. Best regards Fredi
      Excellent tour!
      Joanne_A, Apr 2024
We hiked up another less well-known Inca ruin at Ollantaytambo and then took the train to Machu Picchu, which had spectacular scenery. Our guide, Gary, was thorough, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Inca culture and history. He was helpful from start to finish and made sure we got great pictures at Machu Picchu!

Tremendous 2 days in Sacred Valley; do not go without these guides!
      Susan_M, Apr 2024
The 2-day trip through the Sacred Valley and ultimately Machu Picchu were incredible. Both guides were fantastic; well-informed, polite and patient with our questions. We felt very safe and well taken-care of while in their hands.
      This tour is a must!!
      Sandro_N, Apr 2024
We had an excellent time with, our tour guide, Gary. He was very informative and knew so much about the Inca culture and history. Definitely a five star rating. Gary was patient and understanding as we had a 7 year old, 13 year old and adult who got sick during the tour.
Best experience and well worth it
      Janice_B, Mar 2024
Our tour guide Fabrizio was amazing from start to finish. The entire trip was well organized. He was also very knowledgeable about each excursion. He knew about all the different llamas and alpacas and other animals. He took us to Pisac and explained the history about the sacred valley. He took wonderful pictures of us at Ollantaytambo. Lastly, he did an amazing job at Machu Picchu, pointing out so much detail in the structure and meaning behind its creation. He gave us time to use the bathroom and to also buy any souvenirs if we wanted to. He never pressured us into buying anything. We liked him so much we gave him a good tip and treated him to lunch!!
      Pleasant tour, highly recommended
      Yin_C, Mar 2024
The tour was a well-organized and enjoyable experience. Our guide, Fabrizio, was knowledgeable and attentive, enhancing our visit with his expertise. The weather was favorable, adding to the overall pleasantness of the trip. Highly recommended for those looking to explore these iconic Peruvian sites.

We’re a friend group from China. We had an excellent two day experience in Cusco, Ollantaytambo, and Machu Picchu. Our tour guid Michale is very nice, funny, and respect our culture very much. He made the tour extra interesting. When we were in Machu Picchu, he told us about the history of the Inca, Michale’s good story telling made me felt very engage and felt amazed by the history. I will definitely come again to walk the Inca rail. My best experience in life.
      Fantastic excursion!
      Abigail_M, Mar 2024
Micheal really did a great job with the entire group and takes great pride in his work! Being 17 weeks pregnant I was not sure what to expect, but I really had a great time and about 75% of that can be attributed to Micheal! Highly recommend this excursion!
      Racism Maybe?
      Stephanie_L, Mar 2024
Logistics: The trip itself was fine - the logistics of getting from Cusco to Machu Picchu and back via VistaTrain were not complicated. I was picked up on time and the train ride was fine. Our hotel, although not the best, was clean and quiet. The hotel staff made sure my stay comfortable. Guide: I initially gave this trip 3 stars because like reviewers, I felt as if Michael was disparaging about other races. I was the only Black person in the group, and I often felt dismissed when I asked questions or provided answers to his questions. He never initiated conversations with me while he did so frequently with other group members and he made very little eye contact. After seeing my review, he texted to apologize and noted that we are the same color. Really? In the text, he offered to come to my hotel to help me delete the original 3 star review so that I could give him 5 stars. Both reviews have been deleted and now my 1 star review stands. Overall: The group with whom I toured was absolutely fantastic, and the food stops were wonderful! Although I experienced some dissatisfaction with this trip, I am grateful that I was able to go. Machu Picchu has bucket list for years and it is truly a sight to behold.

Dear Stehanie, First of all, thank you for travelling with us and taking your very time to express your feelings and we would like to offer our sincere apology if we offended you in any manner. But we cannot be racist maybe our guide made a mistake through dialogue or action and we are taking more attention due to this sensitive issue to make sure and avoid any future issues. All our guides are university graduates with high moral and ethical values, all employees like to be upbeat showing and demonstrating humor and knowledge. At all times showing the upmost respect. Perhaps something was lost in a cultural exchange in no way harm was meant Our guide made a simple mistake through dialogue or action. The guide was made aware of his behavior. We pull him off for coaching and retraining about this important and sensitive matter. He has been corrected on this sensitive issue. We have addressed this issue with all our tour guides to prevent anymore issues. Again, please accept our sincere and deepest apology. Best regards Fredi
VIATOR NIGHTMARE: Tour Guide's Offensive Behavior Spoiled Our Trip
      Jing_Q, Mar 2024
Our Viator tour of Peru had so much potential, but our "guide," Michael, single-handedly turned it into a disaster. Microaggressions Galore: Throughout the tour, Michael engaged in constant microaggressions. While explaining a historical site, he would suddenly pull his eyelids to mimic a stereotypical Asian appearance. This offensive gesture not only disrespected Asian culture but also created a deeply uncomfortable atmosphere for myself and other guests of Asian descent. Obsessed with Race: His behavior went beyond isolated incidents. Michael would introduce irrelevant comments about Chinese culture at every turn, from the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu. It felt like he was fixated on race rather than the rich history of Peru we were there to learn about. Disrespectful from the Get-Go: The disrespect started right at the beginning. When Michael asked nationalities, our group (Chinese-Americans living in the US) raised our hands with the "US" group. He then accused us of lying, insisting we were Chinese. This not only highlighted his prejudice but completely disregarded our background and the reason for our visit. Don't Gamble with Your Vacation: With guides like Michael, this tour becomes a gamble. You deserve better than the constant fear of encountering prejudice and having your dream trip ruined. Look for well-reviewed tour companies with clear anti-discrimination policies. Your hard-earned vacation deserves a respectful and enriching experience.
      Response from Host, Mar 2024
Dear Jing Qian, First of all, I would like to start offering you our deepest and sincere apology if you had been offended with our guide behavior. Being honest, is very hard for us to hear about this unfortunate issue but we really appreciate your valued time to share your feedback which is a very big oportunity to rethink and improove the way of our work to deliver the best experience as possible. All our guides are university graduates with high moral and ethical values, all employees like to be upbeat showing and demonstrating humor and knowledge. At all times showing the upmost respect. Perhaps something was lost in a cultural exchange in no way harm was meant. Saying this, unfortunately we (Peruvians sometimes we do jokes which definitely does not sound good to you which completely now we understand better). For that reason, we already meet with all our tour guides for coaching and retraining about this important and sensitive matter. We have addressed and corrected this issue with all our tour guides to prevent anymore future issues. Again, please accept our sincere and deepest apology. Best regards Fredi

Great time exploring the hidden valley and Machu Pichu. Having all the hotels, trains, and buses booked was incredibly convenient. Would definitely reccomend

      Do not recommend
      Mariia_M, Feb 2024
I do not recommend this company to buy a tour, first of all I paid $150 more than the girl I met on this trip for the same experience. Secondly, I booked the Vistadome train , paid extra, they gave me tickets for another train, which was cheaper, only on the way back I was given the one I had booked. He said he would refund me the difference, but I'm not sure if they will. And it's not a difference, I paid for the experience. I saw the booking date and it was just a few days before my trip. I paid for this excursion months in advance and they couldn't do it the way I requested . The tour operator responds only after a few hours or does not respond at all (even during business hours). I am very mad they tried to cheat me on my birthday gifted dream trip !
      Response from Host, Feb 2024
Good morning Maria, Thank you for leaving your valued feedback, letme respond all your points of complain. 1.- The price differences will dpend where you purchase your tour package, remember the 3rd party (intermediate company) charge commissions. 2.- unfortunatelly Vistadome train on the way to go is not longer available instead we book the expedition train and this was informed and partial refund for the trip difference was refunded. In this point we are sorry about this situation but the train company changed the services due to their operations procedures. 3.- We are always live by whatsapp, e-mail and we informed you all about the tour. 4.- We are sorry but there is now way to cheat, if changes happens we inform in advance. Unfortunatelly we can not control the train operations procedures as they manage but we are always ready to provide the asisstance as soon as we can. Thank you for your feedback, definitely this help us to keep making sure that all our clients are informed if any change happens ad we are ready to provide the best solution in advance to habe a better experience. Vest regards George
      Tour of a lifetime
      Freda_I, Feb 2024
I was first picked up in front of my hotel and escorted to the bus. That’s where I met my tour guide Michael. Michael was so informative and helpful. He took us to so many different locations. My favorite being the sanctuary for alpacas, llamas, etc… Michael was patient, accommodating, and gave us a deep dive into the Inca culture and history. The hotel stay over night was amazing as well. We had a view of the river which was absolutely breathtaking. Don’t think twice, just do it!
      Mystical Machu

Our 2 day guided trip with Efrain was amazing. Efrain was a pleasure to be with for 2 days. He took care of everything in regards to tickets , hotel, shopping area and made it easy for us to enjoy everything. Our driver Señor Ignacio was an excellent driver and got us around safely without any stress. This trip was amazing and I thank Efrain for making it so amazing. We will never forget this trip.
Almost a trip to Manchu Picchu
      Ron_N, Feb 2024
Unfortunately, the trip was cut short due to protests at Manchu Picchu. Still able to do the first half plus they threw in Moray. Received a refund for the balance. Our guide was great, a lot of knowledge. Very informative and professional.
