What To Expect

Depart from Cusco in the morning, with pickup from your hotel and a transfer from the city center to your train station. Your departure location and travel experience depend on the seating option you’ve selected. Guests can choose from the Expedition train—the Vistadome, with glass on all sides for better viewing—or the Executive Class with comfortable seats.

Then enjoy a scenic train ride, offering stunning views of the mountainous terrain that makes up the area near Machu Picchu.

Arrive in Aguas Calientes, the small village located at the base of this famous Inca site, and board a bus for the short ride to this sacred citadel. Completed around 1450, when the Inca Empire was at the peak of its power and influence, the site was left vacant within 100 years of its creation, thanks to the conquest of the Inca people by the Spanish. Though the site today remains abandoned, many believe Machu Picchu to be a key center of spiritual energy.

Follow your guide through the main streets of this marvel of ancient engineering. Learn about the site’s history and design as you meander through its town square, key religious sites, an elaborate network of agricultural terraces, and intricately-designed stone staircases.

After spending a few hours at the site, return by bus to the train station in Aguas Calientes and then to your chosen train for the trip back to Cusco.

  • Cancellation Policy: if you cancel your booking up to 21 days before your tour departure, we will refund 80% of total ammount. If you cancel with less than 20 days prior your tour departure, 100% penalty apply.
  • The admission ticket of Machu Picchu is not refundable and date changes or amendments are not accepted. If you need to change your visit date, you will need to purchase a new entrance ticket.
  • Due to high demand and limited entrances to the citadel, VIPAC will issue your admission ticket on trails 1 or 2 as a priority. If they are not available, trail 3 or 4 will be provided, after prior coordination with the passenger before issuance. Supplement apply for Wayna Picchu mountain (trail 4) and Machu Picchu peak mountain (trail 3).
  • Machu Picchu Admission ticket and train tickets are included in this tour. Our sales team will send them 72 hour after paid.
  • Shifts entry by hours from 6 am to 2 pm. Our shared tour considers 9 am, 10 am and 11 am shifts. If the shifts are not available, we will open a new shared tour in the next hour available. Our staff will inform you for acceptance.
  • Travelers must arrive to Cusco city at least one day before Machu Picchu day tour. The authority of Machu Picchu do not accept travel date ammends of admission ticket.
  • This shared tour could has a waiting time of up to 40 minutes to start the tour, depending on Machu Picchu shift time and train timetable avaliability.
  • One day before the company's staff will contact the travelers to send the pick-up time through Viator or Tripadvisor experiences extranet or his whatsapp 24 hours before.   • Machu Picchu has two seasons. Rainy season from December to March. Dry season, the rest of the year.

      VIPAC took care of everything. Going to Machu Picchu (MP) is not an every day thing so I am really glad I picked them to help set everything up. A small van picks you up at your hotel, they take you to the Cusco bus terminal which takes you to the train station in Ollantaytambo. which goes to MP Pueblo (aka Aguascalientes) then you get a bus ride up to the main entrance. Throughout the circuit/walking trail in MP we had an excellent guide. We finished with about 2 hours to spare (time for lunch and shopping in MP Pueblo) before catching the train, bus and van back to the hotel in Cusco. Only thing to note, you don't have the same guide the whole time so the only time I felt "lost" was at the train station in MP Pueblo, The guide isn't allowed into the train station so you need to walk all the way out until you get to the shops and there will be somebody there with a name sign waiting for your group.

      It was a good tour. Our guide was informative about the machu picchu. The views were stunning . Downside alpt of walking and Incline so if you can't handle both then I suggest doing the circuit one or two. The hight the circuit , the higher the levels

      I have booked for shared tour but in the end got a private guide! The guide is very knowledgeable and able to take me to the best circuit even if the ticket to that circuit is full. I have selected the 360 Train Option and it was bimodal service, the 2hr bus is more comfortable than expected. After arrival to Machu Picchu train station, I was immediately got pickup by the tour guide and take on the 30min bus to machu picchu and start the tour. After the tour I got 3 hours to walk around Aguas Calientes town and relax before going back to Cusco.

      Overpriced and issues with difficult tour members badly handled but an amazing experience all the same

      Machu Picchu is extraordinary and is a wonderful experience to visit. However, there were issues with the tour I booked, mainly due to poor handling by the guide of others on the tour. A lot of time was lost waiting around while he went back to find people missing, then at the end of the tour I should have had an hour free back in the town but this was lost as the guide went to find a tour member who was unable to walk up the steps. He should have instructed her to return to the entrance and meet us there but instead we had to wait 25 minutes while he went to get her. These delays meant I had less time to experience the site and did not have time to eat properly before the long journey back to Cusco. Finally, Viator is an overpriced product, they seem to simply repackage and sell tours by others adding a large mark up. I should have researched better and booked directly. Little value was added by Viator. Machu Picchu is a 5 star experience but Viator is not.

      Everything was taken care of. Seemless Transitions throughout the entire day which involved careful planning and coordination. It was a magical day. We had some gaps between the tour and the train, so we had a nice breakfast and also late lunch at the town. Gorgeous.

      Viator is terrible

      We had to cancel our trip due to an unexpected death in our family. Viator would not give us a refund or future trip credit. Buyer beware. We canceled our entire trip to Peru for 14 days. All the airlines, hotels and other excursions we had booked gave us a refund or credit. We will be rescheduling our trip to Peru and plan on going to Machu Pichu but we will never again book an excursion with Viator.

      DO NOT BOOK, unless you do so the day of and know there is no chance you could miss the pick up. Our flight to Cusco was cancelled the day before we were to go on this. I cotacted both customer service and the tour operator to explain the situation since I had no options to get to Cusco in time the ne t morning. They refused to cancel and refund my booking. I evem offered to pay for any advance tickets to the attraction they purchased, which would have been minimal cost, but asked for a refund of the transportation and guide since we were not going to be there. They refused and I am now out $1100 for a tour we never went on. Conplete BS!

      Tip to toe the organization was absolutely FABULOUS!!! I saw more than I thought we would see. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. The bus drivers we wonderful and knew who we were. We were greated at each place by name and everyone knew our itinerary!!! Our name and the company's name were on big signs when we exited a vehicle!!! Best experience!

      Deyse was right on time picking us up from our hotel, and off we went to the bus station for a scenic 2 hour trip to the train. Transfer to the train was easy. Lots of staff available to direct us. Train tickets had our car and seat number. 90 minutes later we arrived at Machu Pichu. We had no instructions as to where to find our guide, but walking into the market we saw a young lady holding a sign with our name. We met Marco, our guide, and set off to see Machu Pichu. Marco was a wealth of information and history, and took some wonderful photos of us. Our return train was delayed, but Jose was amazing. He kept our group informed as to the delay, and was instrumental in getting us on a different train. In Cusco we were met by Lauda and driven back to the hotel. We highly recommend this tour and the staff. 10 stars!

      Phenomenal experience. My boyfriend and I were skeptical about the idea of having a tour guide, but I could not have been happier with our outcome. I forget our tour guide’s name unfortunately, but he was extremely informative in a way that was exceptionally engaging without feeling like a lecture. He was the most ideal tour guide we could have had. It was just my boyfriend and I so it was essentially a private tour (which I preferred). The company was very organized as well. Exceptional experience, not a hard hike through the town whatsoever, very easy and phenomenal views and history.

If I were do do it again, I'd avoid the bimodal transport since the roads are really in disrepair ad very bumpy. After April the train goes to Cuzco and that would be the desired way of getting there instead of splitting the transportation into bus+train. In March when we travelled it was the only way to get to Machu Picchu though (train company policy, not the agency). But the agency was good, communicated thru WhatsApp, picked us up on time.
