Fun 4x4, bad business practices

The camel riding is pretty mediocre and is over pretty quick, as someone simply walks you in a circle for a photo opp. I didn't participate with the falcons, as they are inhumanely tied by a leg to a stick and have their eyes covered all the time. By far, the best part is the 4x4 driving up and down the desert dunes. Skillful, high-speed driving hitting some crazy angles, which is exciting. My main area of dissatisfaction was that the driver pushes you to write a review WHILE STILL IN THE VEHICLE, and even demands that you send him a screenshot - since you are still in the vehicle far from your dropoff, it feels that you have no choice but to give a positive review if you wish to be dropped off. This is a terrible practice that NO CUSTOMER wants as part of their experience. For this reason, I cannot recommend this tour.

Great Excursion, made better with driver Taj

We literally booked the night before for a 9am pick up and there were no issues. Our driver Taj Khan had arrived before 9am and he kindly waited for us until we were ready. Once we got in the car we were briefed on what the itinerary was and then started making our way. First stop was the camel rides, camels were ready waiting, locals try selling you the scarfs (which is payable to them and not included). There is also Falcons there (which again to hold and take a picture with is an additional 20QAR). After the camel ride, which lasts no longer than 5 mins (plus the men walking the camel will take pictures for you) Taj gave us some tea and then the fun began. We got back in the car and Taj turned to us and cheekily said "put your seatbelts on" and off we went...up and over, around the sand dunes. He had local music playing and got the vibes perfectly right. Very skilful and experienced driver and he seemed like he was enjoying making us laugh and scream with joy. Along the way he gave us a tour of the sand dunes, stopping at all the hotspots to get some great pictures. Stopped at a spot for some Sand-boarding and also inland sea. I would definitely recommend this excursion/trip and with this company too, even my 4 year old daughter enjoyed it!

Rude Driver Ruined Experience

This was my second time taking a desert safari through this company and I must say that it was a very different experience with the second driver. The first trip back in January was professional and fun but the tour guide assigned to me for the March 30th trip was very unpleasant. I had booked the tour for pick up from my hotel at 2 pm, but the driver called me on WhatsApp at 10:30 pm the night before saying he was going to pick us up between 3 to 3:30 pm instead. The day of the tour I did not hear from the driver, he hadn't shown up at the hotel by 3:45 so I started calling him on his WhatsApp number but did not get an answer. I then reached out to the messenger contact option on Viator to ask if a driver was still coming because I was concerned that no one was going to show up. The driver eventually arrived at 4 pm (2 hours past the initial pick up time) and was immediately confrontational about the fact that I had reached out to Viator to let them know he hadn't arrived. He had a screenshot of my message from the Viator website and demanded that I delete it and leave him a good review. He repeatedly demanded that I leave him a good review and send him a screenshot of it throughout the tour and I honestly felt like he would not let me leave his car until I had shown him a review. I was initially a little scared to leave a review at all because the driver knows what hotel I am at and he was so confrontational and aggressive towards me on the tour I was afraid he might seek me out if I left a bad review about him. The tour itself was cut short because it was nearly sunset by the time we reached the desert and on the way back to Doha the driver made us sit in his car in a parking lot alongside the highway for about 20 minutes so he could break his fast. He gave us tea and insisted over and over again that we must drink it even though we had already told him multiple times that we do not drink tea and did not want tea. Overall this driver was very rude and made the tour an unpleasant experience. Please inform the tour guides to not demand reviews from the guests and to at least communicate if they are going to be arriving late.

We had a great time on the Desert Safari - the guide messaged me the night before and let me know about pick up. He arrived in a nice clean vehicle and drove us out of the city, showing us some highlights along the way. We went to ride camels - which was fabulous - getting up and down was an adventure! Fine Bashing was so fun and you could tell what a wonderfully experienced driver he was! The kids loved sandboarding and we got wonderful photos all along the way. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

We didn't get the sand surfing, Camel Riding and Falcons are only 10 minutes, it is oK. But we really got a amazing experience with Desert Safari. Our introducer Abdul Rahman is really a good driver and speak perfect english. He understand what his customer needs, it is really scaring but exciting, and we also saw the beautiful sunset in the desert.

Excellent experience and well organized. I was promptly acquired from my hotel, traveled comfortably and furnished with the options of what desert activity I wanted to commence first. All crew members were friendly and valued safety. Returned back to my hotel successfully. Be sure to have eye protection like Oakley sunglasses for strong desert winds.

Beautiful landscape but driver was not a guide

The landscape was beautiful and we had lots of fun riding through the desert in Land Cruisers. Camel ride was short and camels looked very unhappy so we definitely won’t do camel ride again. Sand boarding was lots of fun and the kids enjoyed it very much. Our driver barely spoke any English so he was not a guide but only a driver and this was a big downside as we wanted to learn about the local life and desert.

Zain right from the start made you feel right at home, he was also very informative on our journey. To pick was the best to hard to say. The camel ride was great and holding the falcon's brilliant. The sand boarding was hilariously funny but I suppose the drive through the dunes to the inland see and to be able to see Saudi Arabia across the water was awesome.

The best part was definitely the ride through the desert in the SUV - very fun and exciting. But a little too long. However there were 2 negatives I must mention. First was that although I purchased the package that said “with camel ride”, I was told upon arrival at the camel site that there was additional charge for the camel ride, one fee for a short ride and a larger fee for a longer ride. (Tip - choose the short ride, they are not a comfortable ride!) The second complaint was that my companion and I were pressured to write a positive review at the end of the trip, prior to leaving the site. I would have no problem writing a review if asked, but the pressure to write one then and there was not nice. And they did it in a remote area with terrible cell service lol.

Worst Viator ever!!

Very disappointing tour. Should have know when the driver/guide didn’t introduce himself when he picked us up. Good thing we knew his name from the WhatsApp messages the night before. No information about what we were seeing unless we asked him about it. Had a couple of hours of Q&A. We learned more from googling what we were seeing. Tour was to be in English. Guide didn’t speak English well enough to communicate. Camel riding was included. Then charged us $40 to ride for a couple of minutes. We’re supposed to see falcons. Only falcon we saw was when a guy at the camel riding place want to charge us to hold one. No sand surfing. Not even a mention of it. Had to ask for water even though it was over 37*C One tiny cup of tea and then hurried us to finish it. 1/2 day tour was supposed to be 4-5 hours. Dropped us off at the hotel after 3 1/2 hours. Then stood by the door when my wife was getting out, didn’t even attempt to open it for her. After I contacted Viatour the guide started txting me about removing the complaint and threatened to come to the hotel.
