The landscape on the drive to Cork was absolutely beautiful. Bryan, our driver was so informative about the surroundings as we traveled and even sang for us! The countryside is so beautiful, but of course the castles are the sights to see that take you back in time!

Hell on the Paddywagon

We enjoyed getting to see Blarney, but the trip was marred by a terrible journey on Paddywagon. It was a true cardinal sin to cut our trip to Cork in half, so our driver could force us to eat at a terrible cafe along the way. We would have preferred to get our full time in Cork and have found a place to eat our self. I’m assuming our driver got a kickback for forcing us to eat there. I’ve taken other tours in Ireland, and I always appreciated the lovely Irish music usually played on the bus. Instead we got 70’s music and non-stop babbling about pop culture from our guide, Richard. We were truly glad to be off the bus and will never take a PaddyWagon tour again. Don’t believe the WiFi blurb. We were mocked for asking about it and it wasn’t available.

This tour was a total eye opener! Our driver Alex gave us a ton of information about the folklore, history and political view of Ireland. I laugh at the reviews that gave a poor rating, complaining that there are steps up to the Blarney stone. It’s a medieval castle… did you think elevators would be included?? The audacity I swear… 2 hours was juuust enough time at the castle. I actually opted to walk through the poison garden as well as the Rock Close. There was something magical about the atmosphere, I didn’t want to leave. I wish we could have had a linger time in Cork though. I barely had enough time to eat at a sit down restaurant. Granted, I did walk to the opposite end of the island, but I hustled because I really wanted to try the Izz Cafe. (Also good!)

The Rock of Cashel was very impressive and picturesque. We loved the history of Blarney Castle, and the gardens were breathtaking. Our tour guide, Alex, kept us entertained with stories of Irish folklore and historical facts about each site. This was one of our favorite tours from Dublin.

Had a great trip to Blarney Castle with Paul. He's a fantastic driver and very funny. Even sang us a song! He's very knowledgeable about the history of Ireland and we learned alot on this trip. At the end he recommended Celt and it was a delicious pub! Only confusion was where to pick up the bus. We were across the street. You actually need to line-up infront of townhouseofdublin.com and THE EXCHANGE. Google maps takes you across the street. Otherwise the tour was perfect. Pick up location should be a better spot.
