What To Expect

Cinque Terre is one of Italy’s most captivating landscapes. Translated as ‘five lands,’ the region is made up of five unique fishing villages that line the Italian Riviera.

Your day trip begins in central Florence, where meet your guide and hop aboard your coach to head out toward the seashore. Stop first in the southernmost village of Riomaggiore, which dates back to the 13th century. Beloved for its local wine and incomparable scenery, admire the pastel-colored buildings as you follow your guide along the cobblestone streets.

Head to the tiny village of Manarola next, home to medieval relics and a plethora of grapevines. Stroll the harbor and take snapshots of the beautiful, bright buildings that cling to the cliff.

Then, weather permitting, hop aboard your boat to travel to Monterosso. If you choose to include lunch with your ticket, settle down in one of the village’s restaurants for a traditional helping of seafood and pasta, complemented by wine and water. (A sample menu can be found in the Itinerary section.)

Afterward, with taste buds and stomach sated, enjoy some time to explore independently. Unpack your bathing suit and hit the jeweled waters of Monterosso’s stunning beaches.

Make a final stop in Vernazza, bordered by terraced olive groves that are said to produce some of the finest olive oil in Italy. Explore the bustling square and winding streets at your leisure, before returning back to Florence.

Note: Cinque Terre low-cost option does not include train and boat tickets.

What an amazing day! Our tour guide, Francesco, was beyond incredible. He managed to organize a group of 30 plus individuals around the towns who spoke English, Spanish, and French. It was truly humbling to experience this! He was informative, friendly and made the day very special. The trains in Italy happened to strike the day of our tour so we ended taking the boat between the towns. It was a very special experience as we saw the towns from the coast and from land. The tour was about 12 hours long, including bus transport to and from Florence. Despite being a long day, I found it relaxing and fun! I highly recommend this day trip! The beautiful sights and kind people are well worth the journey!

Missed aTrain
Karen_C, Apr 2024
Most memorable was my husband getting lost on our 1st stop, and we missed catching the train with the rest of our group. But easy to make the next train a few minutes later and re- join. Too bad the boat trip was canceled- would have been the best photos.
Awesome day!

We loved all of the places we visited. The tour was well organized and planed. I felt we had sufficient time at each location. Lots of information. 10 out of 10 for Gabriele and Aldo!! Rick
Great day!
Marsha_M, Apr 2024
The guide was very good. Train rides were great. The cities are amazing, and the views. We were given time to explore or shop, or both. We had a wonderful time. There are lots of stairs though.
Very Picturesque
Annette_G, Apr 2024
We really loved visiting Cinque Terre it really was beautiful, we were disappointed that we couldn’t go out on the boat but we couldn’t because the sea was pretty choppy. We chose the lunch option but my suggestion would be to do your own thing you could sit and eat and admire the beautiful views instead of sitting in a restaurant down one of the side streets with no view and a pretty average lunch. My suggestion to the organisers is dropping Riomaggiore because your not there for long and can’t see much and extend your time in Manarola or Vernazza.
Beautiful scenery, disappointing detail given about our destination.

It was lovely to see some of the colourful villiages. We were glad to do it in April as we were told by the guide Emma that this trip is not as nice in the heat of the summer when so many more people descend. The lunch was nice, though they wanted to rush us through. The level of detail/ history given from the male guide was the bare minimum and disappointing compared to our guide for the Viator trip we took a few days before.
Lovely tour!

Unforgettable tour in Italy. Cinque Terre made me fall in love with Italy a bit more, and the tour guide made it so engaging and fun. Such picturesque area of Italy, I highly recommend visiting.
Breathtaking and full of exercise.
Christy_B, Apr 2024
It is a very long tour but worth it. The tour guides are very helpful and do a very good job of keeping everyone together. I would recommend getting the lunch with the tour, because there is not much time to stop and get lunch otherwise. Each stop is an hour to two hours to see a whole city. The best part was being able to hike to the top of each city and see the land below. The biggest problem is trying to find a bathroom. Be prepared to hold your bladder or stand in line and pay a Euro. Most restaurants have toilets, but you can only use them if you are a customer. Because of the quickness that is required of each person on the tour and the many steps, I would not recommend this trip for people with limited mobility or very small children.

Seeing the towns and people. Would have liked to seen one less town and more time spent in the others. Not to be such a fly by. All in all was a wonderful experience.
Had such a great time. A great way to see many places in one day
Donna_B, Apr 2024
My family and I had a wonderful day visiting 4 out of the 5 sites. Lots of walking, lots of steps, and steep road ways to travel up. This is a definite to do.

Wonderful experience. Roberto, Alexia, Lucca were an awesome team. Did a great job of guiding through the trip
Good long day
Jessica_B, Apr 2024
Loved the views. Loved the hike between the first two cities. Downside was it was a huge group and the walking was a lot! Definitely good if you want a break from cities and to get near the ocean. Wouldn't recommend for cloudy or cold days. Is a very long day.
Do not recommend if you have any mobility issues
monica_s, Apr 2024
Cinque Terre is absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend that people take the time to visit. There are a few things you should know that the tour company did not communicate. When I reserved a spot for my mother-in-law and I, I had notified them that she had a walker in the accommodations section. Unfortunately, they did not tell me that there were many stairs and steep inclines with very few lifts. As soon as we got off the bus our guide left us. We managed to find our group and go to the first stop but when we got to the second stop it was so crowded that we were unable to even get to the stairs and we simply couldn't keep up. Ultimately, we made the decision to leave the tour group and take the train to Lavonte, a stop on the train line. It was beautiful . We had a nice lunch and took our time. Eventually we went back to the bus and took it back to Florence. If you have any mobility issues I would not recommend this tour.
Great weekend getaway!
Meher_F, Apr 2024
this was the most amazing trip - I had always wanted to visit the gorgeous Cinque Terre villages so was really happy when I was able to book it.
ok…. not great
Angie_W, Apr 2024
The tour guy is great but it‘s just too many train transportations plus if you choose included lunch, they only give you a salad, plain pasta plus a piece of cake for dessert. We skipped the dessert because the lunch service was too long…we dont want just get there for lunch. SO PLEASE do not select included lunch package, there are plently of choice for food there. overall the trip was ok…. not what we expected.
Worst trip ever
Karen_C, Mar 2024
This was the worst trip I have ever been on with Viator. I am requesting a refund. We were never told about the amount of steps we had to take, but after the horrific tour we had to pay out of pocket, to take a taxi to the bus stop because the bus was not parked near the train station where it was to meet us at the end of the tour. I hurt my ankle walking up and down the stairs at all the train stops. The crowds at the train stations were pushing and shoving people. I will never take a Viator trip again if I don’t get compensation for this trip and I will tell everyone never to use Viator. I am a travel agent in New York.
Beautiful and Well organised
Kellie_R, Mar 2024
Beautiful place. A very long day but well organised and Liza and Toni were great. Highly recommend this trip
Wonderful, eventful day!
Johanna_B, Mar 2024
We had a very nice and engaged guide, who gave a lot of great tips on what to do and try, we got to see beautiful views and lots of other things. Many great, new experiences.
The villages, the views...
Carol_S, Mar 2024
The villages, the views were all spectacular. Tabitha our guide was lots of fun and did a remarkable job keeping us all together. Loved the mix of the bus ride, the train rides and the boat ride. And it was sunny all day. Perfect!
Good but not to expectation.
MaheshKumar_G, Mar 2024
