Our guide, Berlin, was exceptional in enthusiasm and responsiveness to us. Her English was very good and we had some great fun with her on English idioms!!! She tailored the tour to our interests and never failed to provide us with more than we had hoped for. The day we spent in Hangzhou was toward the end of our month long holiday and we had seen a lot of Asia.....but Lingyin Temple was magical, the tea plantations were lovely, our stroll around West Lake and walk along the streets of Hangzhou were lively and very entertaining. All of this exceeded our expectations. Berlin was so engaging that she made our trip to Hangzhou very, very special!! We highly recommend this trip - and especially Berlin - to anyone!

A great day touring Hangzhou

My wife and I did this tour with Caroline on April 16th. Caroline is such a positive person, very friendly and cheerful. She was a fountain of knowledge and was able to answer all our questions, not only about Lingyin Temple and West Lake, but about life around Shanghai in general. The boat ride and walk around West Lake was relaxing. The Lingyin Temple area was beautiful and Caroline is exceptionally knowledgeable about its history. I especially enjoyed the visit to the tea farm. It was unbelievably picturesque. A must see! Truth be told, I also very much enjoyed seeing the train stations and riding the bullet train. There’s nothing like it in the US. Lunch was great too! Caroline picked an awesome restaurant and helped us navigate the menu. I have to say, she has a wonderful way with people. The boat driver on West Lake, the restaurant staff, people on the train….They all responded so positively to Caroline and were so helpful because of her incredible personality. We always felt that we were in good hands. Everything was organized, on time and went off without a hitch.

An Awesome Experience outside of Shanghai

Alana, our travel guide was top notch and on top of everything from providing a great tour to making sure our immigration process went smoothly. China is very difficult to transit through but Alana made sure in advance that we would have no problems. This was a good thing since the cruise ship was struggling to handle this process. Our day started with a Bullet train ride to Hangzhou then a boat ride on West;ake. Despite the light raining cold, it was very unique. After a visit to Tea Village, which most large tours are not allowed to enter, we had a fantastic lunch at the Green Tea Restaurant. Having been in Asia for over a month already, we visited "Buda Mountain". I thought I had seen every Buda imaginable until we visited here. It was unbelievable! Not to spoil your surprise but you will visit one temple that in the rear is a work of art that can be matched to the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican. Alana and her team provided us with one of our best tour days and were very friendly and professional with very comfortable vehicles. I have passed this company onto my friends and travel agent for others to enjoy and experience.

Hangzhou is one of the six capital cities of Ancient China, as well as the home of the third most important university in China. The landscape is beautiful, and its people cultivate a pleasant lifestyle. If one has the time, it is worth visiting it. I was glad I booked this tour. My tour guide, Snow, was lovely, knowledgeable, and very helpful. I enjoyed her companion. Driver service was also good. I was comfortable the whole time. I do not have any bad remarks.

My tour guide, Berlin, was so wonderful and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed my tour. I was not rushed or taken anywhere where I felt I needed to buy anything. I really started to feel under the weather later in the day and my guide took me to the pharmacy and was very patient with me. I definitely recommend this tour.

My tour was conducted by Queena. She was an excellent guide and wonderful person to spend the day with. Queena was very knowledgeable, and one could sense her pride in conducting the tour. The tour itself was a full day of both enjoyment and also learning. We started early in the morning and finished at dinner time. The time went very fast and at the end of the tour, I was very satisfied. I highly recommend this tour and especially if you can have it conducted by Queena.

What an amazing private tour. From the first moment our guide Berlin greeted us at the hotel to the last minute that she made sure we arrived back safely, everything about this experience was top notch. The communication beforehand. The sights we saw. The food / restaurant that was picked for lunch (seriously. the best meal we had!). The seemless operation of travel logistics. Simply cannot beat this level of service. Worth every penny. Well, every Yuan. HIGHLY recommend!

On Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019 I took the tour from Shanghai to Hangzhou and it is honestly the best tour I’ve ever been on. Berlin was our tour guide and she made our trip even better. Berlin was very knowledgeable of the location we visited and provided us was excellent recommendations in regards to food and snacks to try. The location themselves are so beautiful. The boat ride in West Lake was very lovely. The temple was really cool, I didn’t know what to expect and I left with the knowledge of something new. This tour gets an A+ all around. I would like to thank Berlin and Viator for an excellent experience.

My guide Berlin was very punctual to pick us. Very energetic and thoughtful. We scheduled the day according to our pace and preference. Lunch and walks was well taken care of and she even made sure my mother had seats while waiting for our bullet train. Awesome experience.

Our guide, Berlin, took us to the most authentic places in Hangzhou, an ancient Buddhist temple with statues carved in the mountainous rock, picturesque tea villages with terraces of tea surrounding beautiful mountains (what a view!) and we ended on a beautiful lake, with areas covered by lotus plants, surrounded by forest trees, what a place for perfect tranquility! I warmly recommend Berlin, and this tour.

It was a very nice, unique day! I am a vegetarian which is hard in China and Berlin my tourist guide made sure that was not a problem. The whole experience was amazing she was willing to acomodate to what I wanted to do. Super nice and friendly, felt like traveling with a friend.

We had an amazing time visiting Hangzhou and I recommend this tour to anyone traveling in the area! Everything in Hangzhou is kind of far a part and we did not see much public transportation like you do in Shanghai. I think especially if you only have a day to see Hangzhou this tour makes it the most efficient and stress free. Our tour guide Snow was fantastic and I think my favorite part was the boat ride on west lake.

This was a great day. The tour description promises fully customized and that is what we got. We communicated in advance that we were interested in history and art, and wanted no tea plantations. I did some preparation reading, sent a list of potential sites, took feedback and arrived at a full day. Alana, our guide, had excellent English and managed both the logistics and the pace of the visit very well, we were always moving but never felt rushed. Picked up by private car at hotel and taken to train station where Alana managed the transit. Second class train seats quite comfortable and acceptable, as we sped past golden rice fields nearly ready to harvest. In Hangzhou we had the same private car and driver all day. Went to West Lake in morning, and had a boat ride. Then for lunch Alana had to do some quick regrouping since clients usually taken to restaurant near tea plantations. She found a wonderful place and ordered an abundant meal with soup and 4 dishes. This was the best Chinese meal we had on our week-long trip in Shanghai area. Then in afternoon, to Feilai to see the wonderful Buddhas carved into the mountain, followed by the adjacent Lingying Temple, with golden Buddha and Song era pagodas. We ended the day with a reversed perspective – in the morning we saw the Leifeng Pagoda in the distance from West Lake, now we went to Leifeng Pagoda and saw the panoramic views of West Lake. If only all pagodas would retrofit and elevator in the exterior stairs and an interior elevator! Then off to the train station for our return to Shanghai, where another car and driver met us and Alana dropped us back at our Hotel. The tour is a bit pricy but it was exactly what we asked for and very well done.

Our guide Berlin is proficient in English. She took good care of us and was very attentive to details . She gave a good presentation on Linyin Temple, West Lake, Silk museum, old town of hangzhou. We were impressed at the beauty of west lake.

What an amazing trip to Hangzhou. The day and sites were incredible, and our guide, Berlin, made it all possible. Having traveled a lot, I know and appreciate the difference having a connection with the right guide can make. We had this with Berlin. Her knowledge of the locations, history, and the country overall kept us intrigued and fascinated the entire time. She had everything coordinated and organized, and took us everywhere we could have wanted to go. She was also SO FUN! We all felt like fast friends while exploring a new area. Thank you for an unforgettable day. I’d give this ten out of ten stars!!
