Overview
Spend quality time with a wooly llama on New Zealand's rugged Kaikōura Coast. Trek with your own llama, who can carry your belongings in saddle bags. Your guide will help you get to know your wooly companion. Learn Kaikōura history and facts, including the extraordinary effects of the 2016 earthquake, as you trek along Kaikōura's coastlines and beaches. Take in mountain and coastal scenery throughout.

- The beaches are fairly flat, but have a few rocky sections.

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.
- For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
- If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
- Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
- Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
- This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.

Highly recommend! Super unique, educational and warm experience trekking with our llama pals Archie & Harry. Kevin was a superb guide! He shared interesting insights, helped us to understand the llamas through their lens and made us feel really comfortable throughout the trek. We could also feel his sincere love for his llamas, which made whole experience really wholesome and heartwarming. Archie & Harry are sweet hearts! The little picnic with muffins, coffee & tea was a lovely mid-way break. Thank you, Kevin, for the unforgettable experience!

Trekking with the llamas was such a surprisingly fun and exotic experience! Kevin, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and informative. Our interaction with our llama was wonderful! I’m sold on those big soulful eyes, fluffy fur, and sweet disposition of the llamas. We saw beautiful views during the trek and enjoyed the snack provided at the end. Loved it and can’t wait to do it again!

Our time with Hero and Joey, our new llama friends, was amazing. During our time on trek, we learned so much about llamas and the history of Kaikoura. Understanding the world through the llama’s eyes was educational and becoming a part of their company was heartwarming. A delightful way to spend time in Kaikoura.

We had such a great time on our half day trek. The guide taught us about llama behavior and the history of kaikoura which were a welcomed bonus to the already amazing trip. He provided us with fresh pressed coffee and other treats by the sea and offered frequent bathroom stops which was also appreciated along the journey! The llamas and guide were so fun to get to know. One of the most unique and memorable experiences we’ve ever done!

If you think llamas are cute, this is the tour for you. Fun walk, funny moments and an amazing view. Kevin our guide is extremely knowledgeable and caring for the animals. Truly enjoyed ourselves! 100% recommended.

Kevin provided an excellent llama walk near the beach. He taught us about the llama-human bonding/trust relationships and interactions along with amazing insights about local history, geological changes and living in coastal New Zealand. These creatures are so unique and gentle. One even packs your tea, biscuits, etc. He uses an inquiry approach to sharing information that encourages participants to consider their own observations in their responses instead of just telling. He has great 'Wacky Stays' place where you can enjoy innovative overnight stay options. adjacent to his farm, too. A highlight of our interactive adventures during our 3 week travel in NZ
