Please note that due to damaged roads, the Council has requested that we avoid parking at the ferry terminal. We will instead be parked at Lloyd Collins Park, which is to your left of the Sealink Terminal, along the waterfront. Please follow the signs to the park. There will also be information staff there to help assist any that need to be pointed in the right direction. We will also endeavor to have one of our staff members with a sign saying Kangaroo Island Trails, who will also point you to where you need to go. Please try and be on a tender as early as possible as we do have a deadline with departure times as per below: Scenic Tour - 08:30am - 09:00am. - (Times may vary depending on time of first and last tenders coming across from Cruise Ship) We aim to depart 1 hour to 1.5 hours from the time of the 1st tender. We do receive an email from the Captains office 24 hours prior to the ship arriving, notifying us of the times of the 1st and last tender and we work in with that. If the last tender is 5:00pm then we have you back by 4:30pm. If it's 5:30pm, we aim to be back by 5:00pm but most of the time we are back by 4:30pm. Please note that if you do miss your tour, we will only refund 50% of the tour as we have expenses incurred that are prepaid, that does not get refunded to us. Every endeavour will be made to contact you but tours do have cut off times as we have other passengers to take into consideration. Please also note that if your cruise ship is arriving late and leaving early, we will have to alter the itinerary. We may not be able to get all the way out to Flinders Chase and may do Seal Bay, Emu Bay, and Kingscote instead. TRAVEL INSURANCE We highly recommend TRAVEL INSURANCE as from time to time the captain may cancel the tenders from coming in due to severe weather or other issues. In this event, due to the expenses involved in preparing for the cruise ship tours, we do NOT offer a refund. Please compare travel insurance policies as some will cover cancellation costs due to severe weather, while others may not, also please check the excess. If you purchase the Cruise Ship companies travel insurance, they will NOT cover external tours. Covermore Travel Insurance for Cruising - Australian Waters, does cover tour cancellation fees due to severe weather, it also has an inbound policy for non Australian residents.

Kangaroo Island great place but very poor guide.
Streamside2000, Apr 2024
So glad we saw such a unique place like Kangaroo Island! Unfortunately, we had a terrible guide that certainly diminished the experience. This tour company should NOT use Paul as a guide if they want to have satisfied customers. Also, they need to rethink how they do lunch!!
Response from Host, Apr 2024
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts! We would love it if you got in touch with us to explain why you were so dissatisfied at ash@kangarooislandtrails.com.au This is certainly not feedback we get very often so we would love the opportunity to address it and therefore improve.
Kangaroo Island in a nutshell
George_A, Apr 2024
Everything was amazing .Kylie the organizer and our driver was excellent hung around to get the last 4 people on board rearranged the tour slightly due to time restrictions but we saw very thing we needed. Lunch was very good Thank you Kylie and Phil the husband who we originally was scheduled to tour with. Great couple

A day in Kangaroo Island
Annadelle_G, Feb 2024
Nikki was the best tour guide! We’ve learned a lot about Kangaroo Island and its inhabitants just listening to Nikki and her love for the place. We visited all the tourist spots that we wanted to see on the island. And that Çhicken pasta salad was the best lunch on a hot day! Will definitely recommend this tour.

Thank you so much! We really appreciate you taking the time to review your experience with us.

Because it wasn't sunny, our driver took us to a road where we saw dozens of animals. Lunch was a bit late, but good. She was great
Think twice before you book or take out extra travel cover.
reneelimenidis, Jan 2024
Very misleading. No mention of losing all money payed if the cruise ship tenders are not running to get you on the island. I would have understood losing 50% but to lose 100% for absolutely no fault of our own. No mention of any of this in the booking process or letting customers know that this tour often doesn’t go ahead because of poor sea conditions to get passengers onto the island. I would have booked appropriate travel cover if I had known how unlikely the tour was to go ahead. My advice to others would be to book when you arrive and know that you will be able to stand on Kangaroo island or take out appropriate cover to cover yourself for it not going ahead. Tour company is making very good money taking 100 percent from its customers and they don’t have to do a single thing. Extremely disappointing for the money my family has lost at no fault of our own. At least be upfront and provide the information to your customers so they can make more informed choices.

Once again, We are so sorry that your cruise ship didn’t tender. Unfortunately, it affects not just the passengers but the tour businesses also. There are a lot of expenses incurred preparing for a cruise ship tour, for eg bringing buses over from the mainland on the ferry which is a costly exercise, prepaying a number of things including all lunches, wages for staff etc. Many of the tour companies are small family run businesses in an isolated area. For this reason we recommend all travellers have travel insurance for unforeseen events like this. You were offered a letter for your travel insurance claim which is your responsibility to have whether you are booked on tours or not. If a person does NOT have travel insurance, we then offer a $100.00 credit to be used at a later date. We also do make it clear on all booking platforms that tenders not coming across due to severe weather does happen occasionally and we do NOT offer refunds and highly recommend travel insurance. Everyone has free will to book or decide not to. Some people don't read the conditions and skim past that then when this happens, they take it out on the tour operator making all sorts of threats. We're sorry you feel this way but recommend in the future that you read the terms and conditions. If we could take a screenshot and paste it here to show you the recommendation that is definitely there and that you have obviously missed it, we would, so please fellow travellers, read the conditions properly. You also don't lose 100% as we do offer a $100pp credit to be used towards another tour in the future. Also, Kangaroo Island has roughly 40 cruise ships per year that dock, out of that there are usually about 3 that don't tender due to bad weather so that tour does go ahead 95% of the time. It might also be nice for you to have responded to our messages that we sent to you as soon the cruise ship made that decision, as we sent messages along with letters for travel insurance claims and have not heard back from you so if you had contacted us, like every other passenger did, you would've found that we would've sorted something else out for you. Kind Regards, The team at Kangaroo Island Trails.
Greedy
Brad_A, Jan 2024
Tour was cancelled from cruise ship so never got there no compensation as I thought I will give the tour company a better cut than give it to cruise ship so on that book through cruise ship Couldn't even give a part payment back ordinary greedy company in my view buyer beware

A Great Adventure.
BelindaL_C, Jan 2024
Pick up was adjacent to the dock and it was a full day tour. The scenery and wildlife was spectacular and abundant. The Eucalyptus and Emu Oil shop was brilliant. Fantastic Tour Operators and the drinks at the pub which we asked to be dropped at after the tour with new found friends capped of a superb day. Thanks.

Thank you! So happy to know that you had a great adventure. It was a pleasure to have you for the day.

Seeing the animals in their own natural habitat. Our guide was a naturalist and gave us a very informative tour.
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Thank you!
Great tour!
Louise_L, Jan 2024
Our guide Cheryl was so knowledgeable and professional. We were given lots of interesting facts in bite size pieces. To get to the places we wanted to see involved a decent amount of travel but was oh so worth it. It was a fun day, lunch was yummy and we got back to the jetty in plenty of time. Would recommend this small business.
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Thank you so much for choosing to spend your days with our small family run business. Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. We are so happy to see that you enjoyed your day and learnt much from Cheryl. We agree, she is fantastic. Thank you again.

Long day. Beautiful island
Peter_S, Dec 2023
A very long day. Lots of driving. A beautiful island. Weather not the best but that’s life. Excellent guide/driver.
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Thank you so much for taking the time. We really appreciate you acknowledging that weather is uncontrollable. We are thrilled to know that you enjoyed spending the day with your guide.
Many kilometres & well worth the effort with knowledgeful & friendly tour staff.
Kenneth_M, Dec 2023
All of the 5 or 6 main attractions spread across the length & width of Kangaroo Island. A really great tour - thank you. Our driver was Colin who was just superb in all aspects of running a tour - he went out of his way to make sure some of our foreign visitors got more than what the brochure specified. We Aussies appreciated his attention to all of the great PR work & for everyone, not just a few. Colin was proud of KI & new all there was to know about the place, the history & his talks while driving were excellent. Thanks Colin!
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Hi Kenneth, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. We are so happy that you had a great time with Colin!
Soaked and no k’s.
mcfprop, Dec 2023
Never saw any koala. You picture it on your ad. Never saw a kangaroo until last 20 Min after I complained that the island is named kangaroo! Nonstop all day rain was terrible. An actual lunch visit not in bus would have provided break from that. Biggest issue was that although we all tendered over together the people must have walked faster and took all the acceptable bus seats. We were relegated to the last two which were lower and difficult to see from. You should only sell equivalent seats. A credit /rebate to us might be appropriate.
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Hello there, Thank you so much for taking the time to let our team know about your experience. I can certainly appreciate that uncomfortable seating is less than ideal for such a long period of time. Regarding the wildlife on the island, please remember that all tour operators on the island do their absolute best to locate all uniquely Australian animals. Unfortunately when the weather is out of our control, it is expected that our local wildlife will seek shelter. This sadly is a gamble when booking any type of wildlife tour. I do understand your disappointment. This is the reason why tours for cruise ship passengers are priced far less than ordinary tours, as we can appreciate that there is less flexibility and time for our guides to go out of their way as guests must be back in time to tender back to the ship. We do hope that this is helpful information, and if you feel like you would like to discuss further, please do not hesitate to contact us via direct email.
Cramped uncomfortable 7-8 hours
Sharmaine_S, Dec 2023
My honest opinion is that the Coaster vehicle was cramped and overbooked. The second-last elderly American couple sat on seats that were lower than the rest. Then another elderly couple came, front left seat (had an esky seatbelted on) and the far rear left seat had bottled water on it. Cheryl said something like "You'll have to barter or negotiate for seats together" Cheryl then negotiated for this couple to join another trip doing something different. No overhead racks for personal gear or raincoats. 7-8 hours of very uncomfortable excursion. This vehicle needs replacing, paying guests need to be comfortable and not cramped. Really bad experience with my party and neighboring group. As I said overbooked and not ready for an extra four guests, surely they know how many cramped seats there are and how many guests arriving
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Hi, We are so sorry that you found the transport so uncomfortable. Please note that our team has taken your feedback and comments under consideration. We really appreciate you taking the time to let us know what you think. We trust that the tour itself was unenjoyable experience and thank you for your rating.
Fantastic Tour and Great Guide
ROLF_E, Dec 2023
The Remarkables and Admirals Arch were amazing to see so up close and being able to walk all over The Remarkables for fantastic photos was great. The boardwalk to the sea lions was also memorable. We had ample time at each site and were never rushed. Kylie was an amazing guide and also took us to extra photo stops on the way back to the ship which were greatly appreciated by everyone. The lunch was also very healthy and tasty.
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Hi, thank you so much for taking the time to review your tour and guide. We are so happy to know that you enjoyed the day. We hope to see you again!
Excellent excursion with...
Christopher_B, Dec 2023
Excellent excursion with an extremely knowledgeable guide! Tour was flexible to cruise tender schedule and still allowed us to maximize our sightseeing. Bonus - tour made some extra stops (koala and kangaroo sightings) that were amazing!
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed your day and we really appreciate you taking the time to share.
Great sights with great company
Ellen_S, Dec 2023
Fabulous sights with a great tour company. The bus was much more comfortable than most tour vehicles, which was great, because it's a bit of a drive (well worth it). Our catered lunch was also a big step up from the norm. Anybody can get you to the sights, but nobody gets you there in finer style. James M
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Thank you so much. We really appreciate your review and comments on the comfort of the tour bus. Kangaroo Island certainly highlights some of the remoteness that Australia has to offer. We are thrilled to know that you enjoyed your experience and your lunch. Thank you for taking the time to share you review.
