Amazing trip, the guide was fantastic and the boat and food onboard was lovely. The two men on the boat who prepared our food were fantastic. The views are stunning and I definitely recommend. The travel time is long (1.5 hours there and just over 2 hours back due to traffic) however it was a comfortable journey in an air conditioned mini bus.

A great tour, with a long bus ride to the House Boats, but once there and on board an excellent experience. Our tour guide Jude was very knowledgeable and was able to get us on one of the Chinese Fishing Nets.

Houseboat tour

Terrific trip! Pick up at the cruise port was smooth and, after seeing the Chinese Fishing Nets, we proceeded to the house boats. Long ride, but we had a good driver. Boarded a smaller boat that took us to the house boat, where we settled in for a relaxing 2-hour ride in the canals around Kochi. The boat had two bedrooms, each with a king-size bed and ensuite bathroom. Very nice! The chef cooked up a nice lunch (included) with a variety of local dishes, including KFC, Kerala Fried Chicken. Our guide was very knowledgeable and easy to heard and understand. Well worth the price!

Good tour, tour guides were great - bus/coach was good and cool and water was provided - boat trip was good and although I didn’t eat the lunch, every one else did - some going back for seconds, with no complaints/criticisms that I heard. When they say the trip there and back is 3-4 hrs, they were spot on - just beware of that time commitment.

went and saw fishing boats and then 2 hour houseboat cruise on the canals and really nice lunch cochin style with fat rice and yummy indian food- great day out but be aware the coach drive is 1-2 hours each way

Amazing trip. The coach was waiting at the port for us and our brilliant guides, Crispin and Babu, kept us informed and entertained on the 2 hour journey to Allepey. Our party was split in to 2 groups of 16 for each houseboat which meant that there was plenty of room on board. The trip through the backwaters was incredible. Keralan curry buffet lunch on the boat was fantastic. The trip on the way back to the Chinese fishing nets was a bit disappointing to be honest. Looks nothing like the amazing images you see online. Very crowded, rubbish everywhere, a fish market that smells rank and a lot of hassle from hawkers who will just not take no for an answer. Didn't spoil the day though because the houseboat had been so good. Would definitely recommend it.

This was a rewarding trip from start to finish, You see the real India as you gently go round the different waterways. The houseboat we travelled on was a quite large boat and it was very roomy on board, there were two bedrooms with toilet facilities which were very clean and tidy. Three of crew cooked us a very nice meal, they were congratulated by all the tourist passengers. Well done. I can recommend this tour to anyone calling at Kochi.

I would highly recommend this trip it is good value for the money compared to rip off prices aboard cruise liner. We were on a lovely houseboat the trip lasted about two hours , there we were treated to Indian meal made on board which was excellent. After the trip up river we were taken to a church then on to see the Chinese Nets, the guide was very good explaining everything and he did not rush the trip unfortunately I have misled his name. Coming off the cruise sehip it was easy to find the guide as he had a large blue umbrella with companys name on it. This is a trip not to be missed.

We were meet from the cruise ship and taken on a 1:45 journey to the house boat. On way guide told us about the area. There were several Hindo festivals taking place. Not every day you get see an elephant being transported on back of truck. Boat ride was great. We were split into groups of 14. Plenty of room. On board toilets. Lunch was cooked on board tasty. It was good to have the. Chance to try local food. Usual comfort stops at local shops on route back. A bit more time at the fishing nets would have been nice

We were absolutely delighted with the tour. Was met off the ship as said . Was greeted with flowers by our tour guide Sanjay. It was quite a long journey to Alleppey, but Sanjay kept us informed all the way with the history of Kerala. The trip on the houseboat was so peaceful and the weather could not have been better as it was not too hot. We had a lovely lunch onboard cooked by the staff, it was delicious. On the way back to ship we had a stop at the Chinese fishing nets . We also stopped at a washing dobhi which was really interesting. There were 12 of us on this tour. I cannot praise Sanjay high enough. Would highly recommend the trip and would certainly use Viator again as from start to finish everything was great.

Extremely well-organised. Like the official cruise line excursion we expected to be on a large motor boat, with lunch at some hotel somewhere, but no! There were 2 groups of us - 14 and 16 - on 2 houseboats lazily sailing round the idyllic backwaters while two chefs prepared our delicious, Keralan-style lunch. Our houseboat had 2 en-suite bedrooms, a galley, and lounge/dining area. The whole was spotless, and our guide was friendly and informative. We couldn't believe that not only was the whole trip almost half the price of the official Celebrity Constellation excursion, but listening to Celebrity excursionists, twice as enjoyable!

Christmas Day on a house boat in kochi was so different ,no sprouts our potatos to peel.just gliding along on the back waters with local families doing there washing our washing themselves our doing as we were ,day out on a boat wishing us happy Christmas and waving happily.our coach was on time very clean and good air conditioning,our guide spoke very good English and was very pleasant,the house boat was charming,the crew friendly,the food they cooked was delicious.our boat driver,was a character who loved to blowing the boats horn using his big toe ,a wonderful Christmas to remember
