What To Expect

Join up with your guide at one of the central meeting points on the Costa del Sol, and settle inside your air-conditioned coach. Then, journey along the coast to the British territory of Gibraltar, set on a promontory that juts into the Mediterranean Sea.

Best known for its towering limestone ridge known as the Rock of Gibraltar, this chunk of British territory is also famous for its duty-free shopping and British institutions, including its British-style pubs, trademark red telephone boxes and policemen dressed in British uniforms!

On arrival, take a panoramic coach tour and visit Europa Point, Gibraltar’s southernmost point. View the lighthouse that stands at the gateway between the Mediterranean and Atlantic, and absorb the spectacular views over the Strait of Gibraltar toward North Africa.

Next, hop onto a minibus for a guided tour of the iconic Rock. On your way up, stop to visit beautiful St Michael Cave, a network of natural limestone caverns hollowed into the cliff. Marvel at the stalactites and stalagmites as you learn how the cave has been used through the centuries, and behold the largest cave, a natural grotto regularly used as a venue for concerts and other events.

Then, head up the rock to meet its famous residents: the semi-wild Barbary macaque monkeys, known locally as 'Barbary apes.' Hear the story of how the British will never leave Gibraltar until the apes depart, and take snaps of these cheeky animals, taking care to watch your belongings!

Later, head back down the rock, and enjoy free time to explore independently. Perhaps enjoy a meal (own expense), stroll around the pretty lanes, or head for Main Street, the partly pedestrianized, long shopping avenue. Browse the department stores, international fashion chains and handicrafts shops, and maybe snap up duty-free favorites such as liquor, watches, fragrances and other great-value goodies.

When the time comes, return to your coach and ride back to the Costa del Sol where your tour ends at the start point.

Excellent local tour...
Richard_T, Apr 2024
Excellent local tour guides who brought their passion for their home to life with detailed knowledge of local history and customs.
Enjoyed Gibraltar, not travel logistics
AnnilinF, Apr 2024
Gibraltar was fun and the history was interesting. Please be aware that when the company notes they will PU people along the way they mean it . We started in Malaga, and 3 hr round trip became 6 hr travel time, more time than in Gibraltar.
Check Gibraltar off my Countries Visited list

Driver, guide, mini bus driver and Gibraltar all great. Had a fine bleu cheeseburger, too. Coming from Malaga, though, it’s 8 hours driving and 4 hours touring. I think that should be disclosed or don’t run the tour until higher season when you can go direct to G without all the stops along the coast. Just my thoughts
A 5 star experience
Allison_G, Apr 2024
Absolutely amazing tour by both our Spanish and Gibraltar hosts. Pick up was on time and both were friendly and accommodating. It was honestly the highlight of my trip and it was only made better by such wonderful hosts and coach drivers. A 5 star experience!!
2 hours and 20 minutes of pick ups on the way
Stephanie_B, Mar 2024
There were too many pick ups on this tour. In the morning, 2 hours and 20 minutes of pick ups. The guide did not say anything until we had been on the bus for an hour and a half, even then that was just to say that we were doing more pick ups. We were on the bus from 6:45am until 10am, with no breaks - no stopping for the toilet and we were told that we were not allowed to eat or drink on the bus. With such an early start, we left before the hotel breakfast. Same drop offs on the way back. The local guide in Gibraltar was brilliant - if you can, make your own way there and book a local guide for the rock.
Response from Host, Apr 2024
Dear Stephanie_B Thank you for sharing this review, I regret to learn that you were not satisfied with the Gibraltar, PLease bear in mind that we offer several pick up locations in our tours from Costa del Sol, as all agencies are informed, for this reason the duration of the tip might vary, Nevertheless, we will take your comments into account to see whether is room for improvement, Best regards,
Great location
Patricia_O, Mar 2024
Very engaging tour guide on Gibraltar. Spectacular location - very long drive there and back due to heavy traffic but worth it.
What a disappointment tour
Robyn_T, Mar 2024
We somehow missed the importance of having our passports with us. In the email it was imbedded and unless you opened one section, you did not know. The bus was 45 minutes late in picking us up. When we got stuck at the passport window, our tour guide did not respond by text till later. Two of the fellow passengers told her we were stuck at passport window. Another tour guide tried to help us but the passport people told us that it had to be our tour guide. We ended up sitting at a restaurant till the others came back so we could ride the bus back. Some how you need to move that point of you bring your passport up front like right next to the meeting location. Still would like a refund for missing the caves and tunnels of this tour.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Dear Robyn_T, Thank you for taking the time to share this review, It saddens me to learn that you were not satisfied with the tour. Please note that passports are compulsory as Gibraltar is part of England. It is the responsibility of the customer to bring the appropriate documentation to enter the territory. Kind regards,
Good but a lot of wasted time!!
Barbara_K, Mar 2024
Overall this Excursion was good but there are some things that we didn't like about it. The PROS first: 1 Rosie (not sure if I spelled her name correctly) from Julia tours was excellent..she was organized and explained what was happening very clearly throughout the day. The weather did not cooperate with cold temperatures and major rains.. despite this Rosie made the best of the situation having a positive attitude. Very polite and professional. 2. The 1.5 hour small bus tour with Clive in Gilbratar was very informative and well done. We learned a lot about Gilbratar..history.. living there..culture..cost of homes..etc.The caves were amazing to see and we were fortunate to see a few monkeys outside. Unfortunately when we went yesterday it was pouring rain (as stated previously) and cold..around 11 degrees celsius. Clive said it was the first rainfall in 2 years.. and it was extremely unusual. Obviously the weather is the weather.Maybe that's why we only encountered 4 monkeys? Cons: We were the first pick up at 7:30 and it took another hour to pick up the other people from the area. The reverse happened upon our return..we were the last to be dropped off, which took another hour. So 2 hours on the bus just for pick up and drop off. The company should consider one pick up location place (if possible) or 2 smaller vans and dividing the group? Time was also wasted going through passport checks into and out of Gilbrator.. Pick up times and going through passport and customs checks are about 2 hours and 45 minutes. Actual travel time after last pick is just over an hour to get to Gilbratar. We got 2 hours free time to walk around and then the 1.5 hour Gilbratar tour in a smaller bus. Through Viator I estimated that we overpaid at least $50 Canadian compared to the cost that Julia tours were charging. Rosie was collecting the fee from some of the passengers in the large bus..this did not make me feel too good to see this happening in front of me. Also consider a seniors rate. Time in St.Michaels cave was 30 minutes..I would have like an extra 15 or 20 minutes..it felt a little rushed. Final comments: I am glad I went but would never go back because of the wasted hours. The price should also be lower because it really ends up being just a 4.5 hour tour (1 hour actual travel time and 3.5 hours in Gilbratar).
Long bus ride for a quick taste of Gibraltar
Karen_B, Mar 2024
The tour around Gibraltar, seeing the monkeys and views from their Ape Den as well as the beautiful St Michaels Cave were highlights. Unfortunately we were not taken to the top (as the picture in the ad implies), nor did we realistically have time to take the cable car on our own. We spent 7 hours in the bus for 4 hours on Gibraltar. The tour guides were great but everything felt rushed.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Dear Karen_B Thank you for sharing your feedback, It saddens me to learn taht you were not correctly informed about the tour inclusions, Please note, the top of the Mountain is not included on this tour, neither is the cable car to reach that part. This information is shared with all authorized selling points, Best regards,
Disappointing in several aspects.
Deborah_M, Mar 2024
We had two older relatives visiting, one of whom uses a walker to get around. I researched numerous tour companies to find those who said they were able to accommodate those with limited mobility. I booked with what I thought was Julia Tours, but found out in the day of that we were with Bravo tours. I also chose that specific company because their site said they went to the “top of the rock”. Positives: pick up at the designated location was on time. Guides on both buses were knowledgeable and informative. Negatives: The walker was put in the luggage compartment of the first bus, but when we transferred to the smaller bus for the actual tour, we were told the walker couldn’t come, there was no room. I insisted that it come because I had informed the tour operator when I booked that it was required. We managed to find space and brought it along. Secondly, the tour only goes as far as the Caves of San Miguel. Having been to the top via gondola, I knew there was much more to see, including the nearly 360 degree view from the top. Those in our party who had not been to Gibraltar before were pleased with the tour.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Dear Deborah_M Thank you for sharing this review, I regret to learn that you were not entirely satisfied with the Gibraltar Tour, Please note that we share the complete description of the tour with all agencies and authorized selling points. In our description is indicated taht the top of the Rock is not included, nor is the cable car ride, Best regards,
Precious Rock!
Christine_P, Feb 2024
The spots were breathtaking and the tour guides were very personable.I enjoyed St Micheal’s Cave and its effects. I wished we had more time. Gibraltar is little and lovely. Their Fish and Chips (at Roy’s), are very good. Going there was just a challenge as I was one of the first ones to be collected. But it was a lovely day I would recommend it.
All in all, great insight into Gibraltar
Diane_R, Feb 2024
Our Rock tour guide, Jesus was terrific - great driver on narrow roads, very informative and funny. The Rock Tour and St Michael’s Cave are excellent. Our trip guide was really skillful about getting us through customs several times and managing such a large group. The downside was the many more pick up stops than advertised and heavy traffic on the way to Gibraltar. Probably “goes with the turf”.
Loved it!
Peggy_H, Feb 2024
St Michael’s Caves are quite spectacular! Interesting tour. The guide, a native Gibraltarian, was very informative and quite funny.
Excellent
Fenella_A, Feb 2024
We had fun but the time was very limited when we went to St Michael’s cove.We enjoyed Jesus as our tour guide.Definitely going back to explore Gibraltar. We love the monkeys too ❤️
Interesting location
David_S, Jan 2024
The organisation before leaving was excellent well done. The trip itself was interesting but there are two complaints: 1) it was an early start and you might have suggested we had a breakfast or snack before because there was no opportunity for food or drink until nearly midday 2) there were far too many pick ups and drop offs. We were probably first so we would expect perhaps 5 or 6 other stops but not as many as there were. Our journey home door to door took nearly 3 1/2 hours.
Very good
Olena_D, Jan 2024
Everything was very good. We liked it. The guide was friendly and did his job very well. We can recommend this trip for everyone.
Spectacular scenery.
Sandra_C, Jan 2024
First glimpse of the rock was fantastic. The view of both continents was amazing. Our bus tour guide up to the viewing spots was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He kept us duly entertained. Loved the light show on the rock formations too. Highly recommend.
Long day, but a fun one.
Anne_A, Jan 2024
This was a great trip. Only downside was the length of the drive to and from Gibraltar. We departed from Malaga at 6:50 am and it took approximately three hours to get to Gibraltar as there were so many stops to pick up passengers. The tour guide and driver were great and very knowledgeable and explained the custom and entry process. The tour in Gibraltar was fun. Great guide, sites and of course monkeys! It was a long day but very enjoyable.
We enjoyed or Gibraltar tour
petebr777, Jan 2024
Gilbralter was a good trip. The spanish guide and driver, the Gilbralter driver/guide were good and professional. Do not attempt Gilbralter in your own car, it is almost impossible. Secondly the tour operator does better to cut through border red tape.
Monkey business
Julie_W, Dec 2023
It was a long ride and some confusion when arriving in Gibraltar to get on local tour bus. The views were great and seeing the monkeys - The Highlight!! Nice to walk around the shopping area.
