Overview
The wildlife hotspot of Tonga Island lies along the coast of the Abel Tasman National Park. On this tour, ride over to the island by water taxi, then set out to explore the rugged coastline by kayak. Weather forecast not good for Thursday, so changed kayaking to Wednesday; great experience; our guide, Whitney, was calm, patient and informative; all went smoothly and was well organized; lunch was a delicious vegetarian sandwich, apple, brownie and hot coffee; we saw fur seals and a variety of birds; we had some small waves and some flat water - nice variety; we wore spray skirts and life jackets; there were hot showers available upon our return
