What To Expect

Start your exciting Molokini snorkeling adventure by making your own way to Maalaea Harbor 30 minutes prior to the departure time.

Climb aboard your comfortable catamaran and enjoy a continental breakfast before cruising to Molokini, a sunken volcano teeming with vibrant marine life. Dive into crystal-clear waters, exploring the colorful reef with provided snorkel gear and floatation devices.

Depending on conditions, the tour makes a second stop at Turtle Town or Coral Gardens, offering a chance to encounter sea turtles.

Your boat is equipped with amenities that include easy access to the water, trampolines, and two restrooms. Plus, enjoy an onboard deli lunch that can be accommodated to dietary restrictions with prior notice.

The crew on the Malolo was fantastic! They made sure everyone was safe and had refreshments available all day. Even with an emergency Coast Guard evac due to a jellyfish sting on one of the passengers, the crew handled it with ease and calmness and made sure everyone was good throughout.

Our experience was really wonderful. He took the morning tour. Captain and shipmate were informative, kind, humorous, and helpful. They stop the boat and directed our guys toward a mama and baby whale. Waters at snorkeling locations are gorgeous. The Turtles were sunning, and some were swimming. We two missed seeing them, only because we got out sooner than others. We were swimming with beautiful fish. If you have a beard like my hubby, edge to be sure your mask seals to your face.

The crew was great. Unfortunately there was an emergency on board so we didn’t get to do Molokini - however I must say they handled the emergency beautifully for the man in trouble. Even though it was disappointing it was not their fault. The service and food was good and some things can’t be helped.

Captain was a wealth of knowledge about the island history as well as marine life. We saw some unexpected whales on the way in. Crew was absolutely top notch. Love the guy that leaves a bad review because capn would not wait on one knowledge challenged person, who cant follow basic directions, while the entire rest of the boat was on time. Good on ya capn. The boat is fantastic - the back has a retractable feature with so many stairs to get on and off quickly when snorkeling or swimming around. Awesome captain and the crew is so helpful! I was worried about getting sea sick and they took incredible care of me and I was 100% fine!

The boat is fantastic and the crew is wonderful. Very attentive to those who needed a little more assistance- novice snorklers, kiddos- and had many options on the boat for the experience (a slide, jump deck, rafts with a window for kids not wanting to snorkel). Food was fine (the pork was good!)- but we were not there for the food. And we saw whales!!

Great experience! Hard to hear what the captain was telling us on PA, but crew was great. Food was decent, drinks were cheap and snorkeling was great? Had a medical emergency on our tour, it cut our time short, but the crew handled the emergency well.

Nice to be on a catermeran the sea was not to friendly. (Not there fault). I sure wish they would've given more talk about the history of things, and intermingled with us. What little talking went on should've turned off radio and talked. Disappointed on what sea life we seen. 2nd stop was little better. I guess you get what you paid for compare to other companies.

Molokini snorkeling on Maui - disaster

I have NEVER EVER missed or being late for the exursion. However, on Maui, we took a taxi in the early morning to meet in front of the shop they told us to be at 7 a.m. The taxi driver had such an insuficient proficiency in English, and we ended up in front of the shop. With appropriate name but different location in Maui. Realizing that nobody is there and that shop was closed, we immediately called the local tour operator. The lady was helpful, telling us to call the taxi back and head straight to the harbur. We did this. When we were about 10 min from location, it was 7:20 a.m. and captain called me telling me that he would not wait for us. I told him that we are only 10 min away and that we should be there nearly on time, as the trip starts at 7:30 am, but he refused to give us achance and possibly wait for a few minute if we would be late. So, in a nutshell, very unfortunate circumstance for us, and after spending $130 on taxi we even did not go to that snorkling trip. As a frequent user of Viator services all over the world, i usually experienced fantastic service and compassionate local operators. I am totally aware that it was a mistake on my side, but such an unwillignes to help us and show a simpathy for our circumstances was a cold shower. That captain treated us like i never experienced in my life. I witnessed numerous time people being late for trips, and it drives me nuts, but i never seen that the guide would leave them. Even that captain was not apologetic at all: he just coldly announced that he would not wait for us those few precious minutes. If i can give 0 stars to that company, i would!

However, captains must leave the slip on time because we are on a tight schedule. Since the Lahaina Harbor was destroyed by fire we are sharing the slip with one of our other tour boats that normally operates out of Lahaina Harbor. Making our schedule even tighter. Similar to an airplane once the cabin door is shut they generally do not open back up for late arriving passengers. Mandatory check-in is 30-minutes prior to departure and we advise all guests to give themselves extra time to account for traffic, weather, accidents, to find parking , etc. All this information is listed on the confirmation email you received at the time of booking. We strive to provide stellar customer service to all our passengers and guests. While over 90% of our reviewers rate us as excellent or very good, we appreciate and value all feedback our customers choose to provide. This my favorite day so far! The snorkeling was fantastic, we saw marine life, sea turtles, and breaching whales! Breakfast and lunch were very nice. The crew was incredibly helpful and kind! They also have an on board photographer to take pictures of your whole party, on the boat and in the water. Overall it was just such a great day. I highly recommend!

We brought our 3 kids (13, 11, 6) to Molokini and Turtle Town. They had a blast snorkeling! The weather was nice and the sea was mostly calm. The crew of the Calypso was entertaining, kind, and kept safely at the forefront of the trip. We would recommend this to anyone wanting a fun trip with their family. The breakfast and lunch were perfect as well. Also the bar was nice too!

Pack em in! Waaay too crowded

First off…the crew was great! Very capable, knowledgable, and did their best to make it a good experience. The issue…the amount of people packed on the boat. Way too crowded! Also, once people sat down, they never moved around. That means that if you happen to get there early enough to board the boat first you were guaranteed a prime seat with view at the front with no expectation of rotating for others. Our family got there just 10 min past recommended check in time and we’re stuck in the very back with little view for the whole tour. The snorkeling itself, average at best and felt rushed, of the many people on the boat, only a handful of people saw a turtle at turtle town.
