Great views of the ocean and rainforest. Nice intimate friendly group and driver. Highly recommend it and take a Dramamine or two as the ride gets curvy and bumpy in places. Overall, a great experience.

Road to Hana small group
Jenette_H, Apr 2024
The places visited we beautiful. The driver shared a lot of history but it is a shame he did not follow road rules and wear his seatbelt.
Road to Hana: Very Expensive!
Charles_G, Apr 2024
Lunch was good. Information was good. I would book directly through actual Tour Company (Mahalo Tours).
Beautiful drive, MUST do!
Beth_E, Apr 2024
Great tour! Georg was a fun guide, full of knowledge and stories. I enjoyed all the Hawaiian words he taught us along the way. Beautiful beaches and waterfalls. Amazing scenic drive. Very narrow road with a lot of sharp turns- it was nice getting to enjoy the ride and have someone else do the driving as there is so much to see. Only complaint is that the tour did not follow the described stops, we didn’t stop at Aunty Sandy’s banana bread (which I was looking forward to) and didn’t spend the amount of time at the stops that was highlighted. Felt a little bit rushed at times. But the drive was enjoyable and beautiful and I’d recommend the tour to anyone wanting to do road to Hana!
Tour guide, Glen, makes the experience
Donna, Apr 2024
The road to Hana trip is certainly unique; our tour guide, Glen, made it memorable with his stories and insights. The tour exceeded our expectations and went very smoothly. Ask for Glen when booking
Our driver Glenn was very...
Janis_D, Apr 2024
Our driver Glenn was very a very good guide. He made the trip very informational and entertaining, We felt the location for our lunch was very dirty and the outhouse bathrooms were locked so could not use them or wash our hands. The food was just ok. It was a very long 11 hours and could have been shortened, especially stopping at the same place twice on the same trip.
Where’s the communication
Kristin_B, Apr 2024
The tour and guide were good! The three stars is due to the lack of communication prior. Unknown to us, we met our tour guide and found out that a section of the road had washed out making the full road to Hana impossible. The company did not tell us this ahead of time (ie. That we’d only be doing the 1/2 road to Hana) nor did they refund us the difference in price. For this reason, our group of 8 were quite disappointed in the company and their communication.
Wonderful experience.

The stunning beauty of the island. But also our guide Georg, who was so knowledgeable and definitely a fun character.
Beautiful scenery
Robert_O, Apr 2024
The black sands beach and waterfalls were amazingly beautiful. Driver provided a great deal of information about Maui and its history. Suggest greater interaction with customers by allowing more time to ask questions.
Top of the best!!! Don’t miss this one!
Martha_G, Apr 2024
The entire day was so memorable and we met the most amazing people on our trip. We were a total of 7 and our guide, Louie, was fun, welcoming, knowledgeable, informative and the best storyteller. Everyone on the trip loved all of it and we all felt the warmth and friendship, even though we were together for only one day. Everyone shared stories of their lives back home and we enjoyed Louie’s stories of the island. The views were spectacular and all the food and snacks were local favorites and everything was delicious. It was one of the best excursions we’ve ever been on. My husband and I were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Thanks for the memories Louie and for allowing us to meet some of the most wonderful Hawaiian people! 🌺
So amazing trip

So beautiful places, beaches, forest, mountains, waterfalls, turtles, and great time with our tour guide. Highly recommend it.
Road to Hana with Larry is an A+
M_M, Apr 2024
Wow! Our family - teen kids, parents, grandparents - had a great day on the Road to Hana, courtesy of Larry. He is an extremely knowledgeable, personable, lover of the island and we all agreed he couldn't have been a better guide for our family. We learned so much, laughed a lot, and had a delicious lunch at Uncle Russell's. We explored botanical gardens and several interesting beaches, and always felt we had the right amount of time to explore and still stay on track. Honestly couldn't have had a better experience. Highly recommend Larry!
Tour the wild side
Dave_S, Apr 2024
Great excursion to the remote rainforest side of Maui, beautiful beaches and waterfalls along with unusual flora of the tropical jungle
Just rent a car and do it yourself
Dea_K, Apr 2024
I’m sure the experience of the tour depends on the guide. I give it one star only bc the tour was in Hawaii and we stopped at a couple of beautiful spots. The driver (Luis?) was rude, talked about hand to hand combat, how he cleaned feaces from other guests who defacated on the van, talked about how the locals unwelcome tourist, war and peeing on himself. All topics I’d rather not cover on a trip. Overall, the road is really not bad. Just rent a car loop up the stopping points and do road to Hana yourselves.
Awesome experience
Carole_D, Apr 2024
Loved walking through the lava tube! The waterfalls were beautiful! Our guide, Georg was attentive and his knowledge phenomenal! Would highly recommend
Felt somewhat unsatisfied after the tour
Zhandos_B, Mar 2024
After the tour we felt like the tour was priced too high at $250/pax. You end up sitting in the van for most of the trip looking at road turns and trees (not much to take photos of). There was no stop to see the bamboo forest and no stop to see the red sand beach. We saw the beautiful sand beach though. Go all that way only to see the black sand beach wasn’t worth it for us. The tour was 8 hrs (8am-4pm). Even if it was that long, $150 would have been a fair price for what we ended up seeing. If you can handle some windy roads, better rent your own car and drive yourself with an audio guide downloaded. 3 pax = $750 for the tour vs. $150 car with gas. The guide was nice and knowledgeable. No complaints about him.
Roach Infested Bus/ Long Pit Stop
Kimberly_B, Mar 2024
First I’d like acknowledge our tour guide, Ed. He was fantastic and the reason this review was given two stars and not zero. Ed was very knowledgeable and kept us informed and entertained. If this review was based solely on Ed it would be 4 stars! He’s extremely proud to be a local and shows through his enthusiasm and love for what he does. There are two reasons I do not recommend this tour. The first is the bus was roach infested! Not just a few. Many crawled on the seats throughout the tour. Ed was kind enough to pick them up and throw them out (when we were stopped) and offered an explanation that the bus hadn’t been driven for a few days and was parked under a tree. He said he would give the feedback to his boss. That may be helpful for the next group, but did little for the unpleasantness we experienced. The second reason I do not recommend this tour is because of a long wait to pick up cruise ship passengers. My daughter and I were the first to be picked up at our Resort. We had no indication we’d be parked on what appeared to be an abandoned road for over an hour to wait for cruise passengers. We were parked on a street of abandoned buildings and truck trailers. There was no sight of the cruise ship. Not ideal for a mother and daughter who were the only passengers on the bus and definitely not good when Ed walked away to relieve himself. After a while another tour bus arrived with no passengers. That driver, Louie, came over and began asking us where we were from…Ed opened the sliding door to allow air inside. We had no idea we were going to make this stop let alone be approached by a slow talking weird man (tour driver or not) asking us questions. He was just making conversation, but we were frightened! Apparently we arrived earlier than expected at 7:25am. Cruise passengers were expected to make their way down at 7:45am. They showed well after 8:15am in two different groups. We depaeted at 8::32. Over an hour after arrival. This was our first tour scheduled for our vacation. Not an ideal way to begin our mother/daughter trip.
Shut up and Take my money already!

If your driver is Glenn, you will have an awesome, informational and excellent time. Glenn is so knowledgeable, so friendly like he’s my uncle taking us for a spin around the neighborhood. We kept running into tourists who took the road to Hana and they slowed EVERYONE down. The family had a blast, in fact everyone in our tour had fun. We even took a group picture! Ask for Glenn!
Thoroughly Enjoyable
David_L, Mar 2024
Beach stops were all spectacular. Our guide Larry was hugely informative and entertaining while also very attentive to the needs of his passengers. Disappointed that we could not take the normal route back around Haleakala, but the road is closed at this time. Still a very worthwhile experience, made especially pleasurable by someone else doing the driving.
BEST tour experience
Brooke_M, Mar 2024
This was the best tour experience I have had! First and for most, I would like to thank our tour guide, Louie. Words can't express how great he was: so kind, fun, energetic, passionate, and knowledgeable. During the tour he became my friend, and I will cherish the memories made that day forever. The group of people with us were wonderful as well; we really lucked out. Our lunch was homemade by locals, and the chicken was so tasty and tender. Thank you to the owner, Charles, for giving us this opportunity to learn and appreciate the culture. Thank you to Stanley for the great lunch. Another huge thanks goes to my new friend, Louie. <3
Must go

Captain Glen was a great tour guide. He knew alot about what we were seeing, he knew all the people along the way at the stops, he was very personable and all around great guy. The other guides were also very friendly, great sense of humor and made you feel right at home. It was a great time and highly recommend it! Lots of awesome photo ops also!
