The best tour of our trip

What a great tour! We learned about the recent history of Comuna 13 and had a great introduction to the murals/graffiti and their major theme of transformation; live street performances; and yummy local foods and drinks. One performance group created an original rap with the various cities/countries where the audience lived. It was hilarious and then they got us up to dance with them one by one. I am a senior and while there is a lot of uphill walking, much of it makes use of the escalators. Great guide Carilyn from Medellin Tours. Don't miss this tour if you are in Medellin.

I almost missed this tour, and I’m sooo glad I didn’t! It was filled with extensive local history and really important information. The art was incredible and so were the performance artists! Our tour guide, Alex, really, really took the experience to a whole other level and made it totally unforgettable. If you’re traveling to Medellin with stereotypes based on its drug history, this tour will offer more insight than a Netflix series can.

Great tour with a really good guide. It was interesting learning about the history of this area that impacts so many lives. The people of this community have fully embraced the tourist economy. The tour takes you to a few stops to see art, graffiti and learn about the history. Recommended for your trip to this city.

Must do to understand Comuna 13 - and ask for Esteban!

Esteban was the most amazing tour guide, and I believe he truly made the tour what it was. There were only 6 of us, which was even better and made it feel so much more personal. Having grown up in Comuna 13, Esteban provided history on the area that you wouldn't be able to get without doing a tour. I highly recommend this tour, as it gave us the understanding and our footings of Comuna 13, which we then spent another couple hours exploring ourselves. Make sure to ask for Esteban if possible, his community ties are amazing!

Totally worth it

Carylin was a fantastic guide very friendly and very knowledgeable. The tour was the ascension of Comuna 13 using the mecanical stairs. At each level, she told us some stories about the place, showed and explained to us the iconic murals then made us participate to street events or made us taste some local specialties. Additional fees were recommanded but not mandatory (it was worth spending a little more, really. So please prepare some spare change)

Our tour guide Andres was great! I really enjoyed all the storytelling and history on top of the great snacks and tour. This was our first trip to Colombia and this was the last tour we did before we hopped on our flights back home. We enjoyed the art, culture, dancing, graffiti and murals. We would definitely recommend this tour.

Julio was humble, humorous, and very knowledgeable. Enjoyed his depth of knowledge.

Julio has a vast knowledge of the Comuna 13. He is entertaining and made the vibrant district come alive. The empanada, gallery/beer, and ice cream stops are a nice break from climbing the stairs. Julio heart & soul lives in Comuna 13.

New cool experience

I loved learning the history of comuna 13. The murals were so beautiful and colorful! Our tour guide Esteban was very chill and native from comuna 13 so you can hear the passion in his voice especially when he spoke of his grandmother. It was very sweet and special. Wear comfortable shoes as you do walk around up quite a few steps. Bring pesos if you want to buy things. It may look unsafe but we felt pretty safe there.
