What To Expect

Board a van and travel with your archeologist-guide from Mexico City to Teotihuacan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, also known as the City of the Gods. A former Mesoamerican indigenous civilization that predates the Maya and Aztecs, Teotihuacan was once the largest city in Mexico, reaching its heyday in the 1st century CE (AD).

Be one of the first visitors to arrive at the archeological park, right when it opens. In relative tranquility, wander through plazas and discover the pyramids without jostling around crowds. Enjoy taking unobstructed photos of must-see structures like the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, also known as the Temple of the Feathered Serpent, as well as the Palace of Quetzalpapalot.

Gain special insight into the complex’s less-visited monuments, including intricate murals and other architectural nuances. Hear about the latest archeological discoveries, the lifestyles of the inhabitants of this ancient city and theories behind the city’s decline.

From the top, enjoy your bird’s-eye vantage point of the Avenue of the Dead, the primary road that runs through the center of the city, which separated the city and stretched from the Moon Plaza in the north to the Great Compound in the south.

After your Teotihuacan tour, hop aboard your transport and head to an obsidian workshop to learn more about the black volcanic rock native to the area. Chat with a local family and sample several liqueurs made from cactus, as well as mezcal, tequila, and pulque. For lunch, select from a variety of traditional Mexican dishes (own expense), before enjoying transport back to the central meeting point.

Good tour if you want to pursue early morning session… Jio explained very well. I missed the tequila and lunch time tho (I was fasting at that time) and I chose to return to the city by myself after the tour inside the pyramids area ended.

Papa Antonio led an amazing tour. He was very informational and kept it entertaining with all of his jokes. You could tell he truly cared for the archaeological history of Teotihuacan. The bus ride was very comfortable.

Best way to see the archaeological wonder of Teotihuacan

Amazing complex and definitely the best way to visit this site - was pleasantly cool when we arrived and the crowds were few - we even caught some of the early hot air balloons (making for some great photos). All of the activities were nice and close so not too long travelling, always a bonus, and the Tequila Tasting was fun, informative with no pressure to buy. Our guide spoke excellent English and we certainly benefitted from her knowledge of the site and it's recent archaeological history. Only cautionary take is that it gets very hot and dusty so wear something that you don't mind getting dirty, decent shoes and take plenty of water 🥵

Really enjoyed the tour. Definitely gets hot so recommend a hat and water. Going earlier ideal to beat the crowds. Last stop is a nice outdoor lunch spot and there was live music. A little touristy but still fun. Would recommend.

Great Excursion for All

The tour was great. My wife and I thought it was very insightful and inspiring. I encourage anyone considering going to Mexico City to see the Teotihuacan pyramids. The four essentials for this tour are water, a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses. It is HOT! Be prepared. Other things to know: The tour starts on time, so be at pick-up locations ready to go. There is a bathroom on the bus, and you will have a restroom/snack stop before making your way to the pyramids. The guides are excellent. Ours was entertaining throughout and gave us amazing historical facts on the way to the bus as we drove towards the pyramids. Once there, you will be with the guide, but you will also have time for yourself to wander around and take as many photos as you would like after the tour is the tequila tasting. They are served in small shot glasses and only filled halfway. After that, you are taken to a gift shop and restaurant. There is no pressure to buy or eat anything. If you go to the restaurant, beware that tips will be asked for any entertainment/ service (music, dancing, etc...)

Amazing Teotihuacan Temples

This is a much more impressive archeological site than I had appreciated. It is incredible how long the "road of deat": was. Alicija was able to give the group many useful insights and shatter a few myths. The trip was well organised and we were split into Spanish or English speakers. The talk on local staple plants, obsidian and tequila were very interesting too. However, in my opinion there was too much time allocated to trying to sell us obsidian etc products and for lunch. I had assumed "early access tour" also meant early return allwowing for an trip to the Azteca stadium in the afternoon but we got back too late for that. So please make it clear. The tour will take up most of your day from 6am - 3pm.

I was nervous because I saw a few negative comments regarding this tour, however we arrived at 620a, the tour was on time, there was and english and spanish guide, they explained what to expect multiple times, there was a quick stop at a gas station for food. We toured each area as indicated on the tour, we did not feel pressured at all to buy anything at the souvenir shop nor felt pressured to buy anything at the restaurant. The bus dropped us off where we were picked up.My only negative, while the tour guides were very nice and appeared knowledgeable, the group was so big (about 30 on the tour in total), it felt a little difficult to actually dig deep into the history and learn more than superficial details about the ruins.

Our guide was fanstastic and was able to communicate effectively and explain the history and culture etc. Really impressed with his professionalism. The drawback for me was the tourist trap tequila tasting, which was briefly entertaining, but there was a bit of a hard sale job going on in the gift shop. The restaurant was pricey and we sat there a long time. Stick with a beer and bring a sandwich. Overall, it was definitely worthwhile. Teotihuacan is simply amazing to see and an excellent guide (forgot his name) is mandatory. The rest...well...

Great guides, bad food

Fantastic guides and interesting experience. The restaurant at the end leaves a really bad taste in ones mouth - way overpriced (750mx) for what is essentially grilled strips of offcut meats. Recommend bringing your own sandwich and then it would be five stars
