What To Expect

Start your visit to the 9/11 Memorial Museum with a self-guided tour of the exhibitions and multimedia displays. The museum itself is located below the 9/11 Memorial, the reflecting pools that are the footprints of the Twin Towers that fell due to the devastating terrorist attack in 2001.

With your timed admission, you have guaranteed entry to stay for as long as you want. It is suggested that you take at least two hours to wander the museum. This admission saves you time by giving you direct entry into the center with your mobile device.

The museum also includes a pair of main exhibits: a memorial exhibition called In Memoriam, in honor of the people who lost their lives that day in 2001 as well as the people who were killed during the World Trade Center 1993 bombing. The second exhibition is September 11, 2001, a three-part exhibition that tells the tale of the day and analyzes motives for the attacks. It also shows the aftereffects of the attack and how the event changed the world, both locally and globally.

This museum experience brings out the emotions in the guests who visit. Get ready to hear the stories of loss and sadness, of compassion and recovery, as you explore the space.

Artifacts from the site History of the hijackers and terrorism threats Sharing this experience with my 27 year old son who was 5 years old at the time. He spent over 4 hours in the museum.
A must visit

Such a moving experience and somewhere I could've stayed all day, reading up on every piece in the museum
A must see in NYC
Alessandro_F, Apr 2024
Very touching and moving experience. It takes at least 2 hours to see everything. Worth the time and the $$
We will never forget.

It was an absolute honor to walk these grounds and pay respect to the lives lost and forever impacted on 9/11/01. It’s all very well done, very moving, a tangible experience of the horror, grief, and triumph inherent in this important piece of our nation’s history. Thank you, NYC.
Very intense but amazing experience

Amazing intense experience. I would never have thought that such a classy, in depth experience could be born from such an awful disaster. Up there with my highlights of trip to New York
Emotional.

Having watched this on the news at the time, it's was so emotional to see all the details, messages and memories from this day. Me and my daughter (11) took the option of the audio tour and I found myself crying at times. My heart goes to the family's affected on this day.
Highly recommend a visit.

Very moving and respectfully organised. The service workers were well informed and helpful. You need to put aside time to take in the whole experience.

A very moving memorial. A must for everyone. You will need a minimum of 2-3 hours. I've rushed through both times.
Boat evacuation film and stairs exhibit, flyers to only name a few.

So moving so much to read and see. An experience all should visit and honor those who lost their lives.

The 9/11 museum was fantastic. It was an emotional exhibition to visit, but there was so much information to absorb, so well thought out and just so informative. I think it’s quite over whelming for children seeing the footage and would therefore exercise caution in taking under 13s in to this.
A must see museum!

I really liked the 11 minute film evacuating Manhattan after the twin towers were hit. So many volunteers on their private boats!
Take the day to remember
Elizabeth_R, Apr 2024
This was a breath taking look at 9/11. It covered the day in its entirety. I wish we had more time. We limited ourselves to 2.5 hours and I feel like we could have stayed 4-5 hours.

This was a beautiful experience. Well worth it a lot of information. This museum was more than i expected It to be. Very shocked to see some of the things items from 9/11. You won’t be disappointed booking this experience.
Day I wish never happened.
Richard_G, Apr 2024
Was three blocks away on 9/11. Saw most of what was in the museum live. Very emotional. Do not wish to say more.
Touching
Biancamaria_N, Apr 2024
Very impressive. Loved to be there. Very touching experience. I reccomend this tour. Is something that must be done in NYC
Book directly at the museum, not here.
Michele_C, Apr 2024
I signed up for a “tour” and was to meet at St. Paul’s chapel . No body showed up. I called customer service, she hung up on me. I finally figured I would get in line at the museum and thankfully my ticket I purchased through you worked. I would just recommend purchasing your tickets directly through the museum. It seemed really silly and insensitive to be upset considering why I was there. So I didn’t. It’s really a beautiful , emotional solemn experience. I definitely would have loved the tour with a guide that I paid for to get the most out of the experience.

Because my husband walks with a cane we were able to go to the front of line. Be prepared to stand in line even with your purchased tickets. Once inside you'll have to go through metal detectors which goes fast. Now you're inside and can take your time. Just be prepared for a lot of other tourists, it does get crowded. You can purchase a self guided audio tour for $10. Or just walk along and read and listen in different areas to audio playing in loop. Viator makes it easy to reserve your spot for different attractions. Love them.
