What To Expect

This Ground Zero walking tour begins at St Paul's Chapel, aka the Little Chapel That Stood. St Paul’s is the oldest public building in New York City that’s still actively used. This church somehow survived the falling debris from the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center despite being only one block away from the melee. It became a kind of rescue center during the aftermath of the tragedy, and the iron fence that surrounds it became a place for family members to post notices about their missing loved ones.

As the tour continues, walk to the FDNY Memorial Wall and FDNY Ten House. Hear the heroic stories about the emergency responders on that day and see the fire station at Ground Zero.

Finally, enter the National September 11 Memorial, aka the 9/11 Memorial, a tribute of remembrance and honor to the almost 3,000 people who were killed on 9/11—at the World Trade Center site, in the plane crash near Shanksville, Pa., and at the Pentagon—as well as the six people who were killed in the World Trade Center bombing in February 1993.

There are twin reflecting pools at the very spots where the Twin Towers once stood. Look up and see One World Trade Center’s Freedom Tower.

There is an optional upgrade to include entry into the National 9/11 Museum. The museum tells the story of 9/11 through multimedia displays, archives, narratives and a collection of artifacts. The lives of every victim of the 2001 and 1993 attacks are commemorated here.

Ground Zero tour, a must do activity.
Ruth_C, Apr 2024
Excellent ground zero tour guide. Gave information you would never know by walking around alone. 90 minutes was sufficient. Museum was a must see. Wednesday at 1pm you hear and see the bagpipes played. Goosebumps moment.
Excellent tour

Our tour guide was very good, she had actually lived the experience of 9/11 and lost her brother that day. It was very interesting but difficult and emotional. I found the museum particularly difficult. It has to be done though. I loved the memorial on the site of the tragedy, and hope that people do not forget what happened and learn from it.
Must see when in New York City

The tour guide was amazing! He gave a personal account of his experience on the day of 911 and also answered all the questions we had about that very tragic day and the events that happened in the aftermath.
Totally awesome!

Daniel was a great tour guide. He showed us all the sites and had wonderful stories to go with it. Would recommend this tour with Daniel.
Great History Lesson

David is superb! We heard stories that really amplified the importance of taking this tour. We live in Southern California and my daughter and her friends had no memories of this event. They were deeply moved. Thank you.
Emmeline was our guide on...
Marc_C, Apr 2024
Emmeline was our guide on the tour and was very knowledgeable as she had a personal connection to the site. i would recommend this tour for those who don't have lots of time to learn the history. i had added on the Museum and it was 10$ extra for the Audio Guide in the Museum.
Great Experience

Our tour guide, David, was very infor.ative & did a great job. My only comment is he needs to slow down a bit. He was losing some of the people during the tour.
Great tour

Jonathan was great! So very polite and informative! We were so very glad we booked this! Loved seeing St. Paul’s cathedral. Best tour guide ever!
This was absolutely an essential part of our first NYC experience!

Daniel was our guide and he was wonderfully respectful and informative. We were a group of about 15 people on a very cold, very windy day and without a microphone or speakers, we could hear him easily - I was very impressed with how he was able to project so well over the normal street noise and wind. I expected the 9-11 Memorial and Museum to be the most important element of our NYC trip, and chose a tour because I hoped for details and stories I would otherwise never know if I did this memorial on my own. It was the right choice. I am so grateful for the stories and details Daniel brought to the experience and can say of all the iconic things we saw while in NYC on this visit, our time spent with Daniel and remembering this tragic event was the most significant. I highly recommend this tour and thank you again to Daniel.
It said ground zero tour but it wasn’t included
gina_p, Apr 2024
It was said that the ground zero sightseeing was included, but I couldn't go sightseeing because it was closed on Tuesday. I felt cheated even though I paid a lot of money.
Daniel was brilliant - a tour well worth taking
Dervallowry, Apr 2024
The tour guide Daniel was amazing. He explained everything in great detail. He answered everyone's questions and rushed nobody. It is well worth getting a tour guide to do this as you learn about things that have not been written about and Daniel told us about his own personal experience on the day of 9/11. It was so informative.

Walking tour by guide with firsthand experience of 9/11 should be required for all visitors to NY. It was well worth hearing the personal accounts woven into the historical events.
Knowledgeable with notes of hope and resilience

Tim was OUTSTANDING... the level of facts and detail balanced with the seriousness of the situation and some timed humor made the tour a fantastic experience for my 23, 21, 19, and 15 year old kids. Thanks Tim!! Can't recommend this tour enough!
Informative. We'll worth the time.

Freedom in our country came at a price..
Maria_E, Mar 2024
The most moving experience ever! The tour-guide Paul was spectacular! He shared incredible details that would only happens if you go on the tour. I’m so proud of New York City for creating such a memorable space for the lives lost on 911. One of the best tours ever and I gained more appreciation for our country! The process of booking through Viator made it so seamless for the tour.
