Meeting and Pickup

Meeting point

  • Castle Clinton National Monument
    New York, NY 10004, USA

Meet your guide on the steps outside of Castle Clinton's North Entrance. Castle Clinton is inside Battery Park on the southern tip of Manhattan. Your guide will have your entry tickets. Just show up and tell the guide your name. They will be wearing an orange hat and/or a blue jacket/shirt.

End point

  • Ellis Island, United States

Tour will end on Ellis Island. Guests can spend more time there if they wish or they can head back on the first ferry returning to Battery Park.

What To Expect

Your half-day outing to two of New York’s most iconic landmarks begins bright and early: Meet your guide in Battery Park and—after a security screening—hop aboard your ferry. This tour includes round-trip ferry tickets and entry, and guarantees your admission to this essential New York experience.

Then, set out on the New York Harbor, where you can capture photos of the skyline while your guide shares stories about the city’s history. Your first stop is Liberty Island, where you’ll get up close and personal with the Statue of Liberty and explore the companion museum.

Next, return to your ferry and transfer to the second major landmark: Ellis Island. Learn all about its immigration history from your guide, and have free time to tour the Ellis Island Immigration Museum at your own pace. The tour ends when you return by boat to Battery Park.

Flexible alternatives are also available. For a time-saving choice, embark on a 2-hour journey just to Liberty Island. And for the most budget-friendly option, see both islands accompanied by an audio guide.

joseph our guide was great! he gave us some really interesting information about the statue of liberty and Ellis Island. I'm from New Jersey. I didn't even know that.
Go Team James!
Josef_E, Apr 2024
All of it to be honest! Our tour guide James was very knowledgeable, funny...certainly the best tour guide we've encountered in the US. Lots of great stories and perfect immersion into NY's history.
There is no way to contact the tour guide in the unlikely event that you will be late for the tour.
Lori_G, Apr 2024
I have used Viator many times and had a wonderful tour. However, visiting NYC, my tour was a bust as we (2) got off the subway at the wrong stop. Unfortunately, we made contact two ways on Web to tell guide we would be late but never received a response until the NEXT day.
Great tour

Good
Stacey_M, Apr 2024
Our guide Chris was FANTASTIC! The overall tour was good. I would just change the amount of people on the boat and the exiting/entering process. I felt like cattle. There were no smooth lines and overly crowded.
Fun trip

Great but wstch out for the clock
Cronan_O, Apr 2024
Great trip and great tour guide Jason BUT you must advise people of long waiting line and Security check prior to getting on ferry. For a 9:30am scheduled tour we did not even get on ferry until after 10:30. Caused us and others to miss other events scheduled for later in the am
Great Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island tour
Chad_W, Apr 2024
Our guide was Alex Parrish and he did a great job of enhancing the experience of visiting the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island by sharing the history and events of that era.
Learning Experience
Tisa_B, Apr 2024
Although I had been to New Yorks many times, I had never been to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. It was a moving experience. The guide we had was knowledgeable and informative. We did have time to visit the museums on Liberty Island and Ellis Island, although you were left to visit them on your own. Perhaps, if you want to have more information on what you see in the museums, you would want to book a different tour. A word of warning - there is a long line to get through security before boarding the boat, so it may be difficult for some to stand that long.
Great tour guide >> great tour!
Alyson_L, Apr 2024
Our tour guide Sean was excellent. He told stories using his whole body, acting out for example the pounding of the metal and the moving of the pieces of the statue of liberty. The stories he told were people-based, and very interesting even without the extra engagement of whole body acting. He managed an overly large group with grace. Also, he looks like if Alan Rickman were blond and Irish, which just added to the charm.
Great tour. Emotionally and historically rewarding.
Ronald_G, Apr 2024
Views. Relating to my grandparents’ arrival as immigrants. Ellis Island photos of immigrants. Our guide Timothy was wonderful. He was as good a guide as I have had.
Tours were great

Great tour
Svetlana_D, Apr 2024
Great tour. Our leader of the group was amazing. The tour length is 3.5 hours plus free time. So, plan to spend at least 4-5 hours there. Take a warm jacket even if it’s 20 degrees/C outside
Seeing the actual statue...
