What To Expect
Upon entering Rockefeller Center, pass through security and ride up to the Top of the Rock Observation Deck, open 365 days a year.
The view is as dramatic a sight as anyone can get in New York City. Day or night, the three indoor and outdoor decks serve to impress.
Take in the scenery from a comfortable seat or use binoculars for unobstructed views through glass panels on the 67th and 69th floors and in the open-air observatory on the 70th floor.
On all three levels, have a photo taken by a Kodak pro and pick it up on the way out.

The wait wasn’t too bad and the line moved well. When we arrived at the Top of the ROC, other patrons were sitting on the sills of the window blocking views on every side. The people sitting didn’t move or make way for you to see out the windows. Unless you were over 6feet tall, then your view was easy to see over the seated people. Security should love them or make people unable to sit there- that was a waste of money because we couldn’t see anything. Because the weather was nice near sunset, we utilized the escalator to get to the upper floor, and that was so beautiful! There were about 12’ high, clear glass panels which afforded a perfect view from three sides ( the east-facing side was under construction and you were unable to view from there). Overall, the process was easy but the indoor views were obstructed by inconsiderate people sitting and blocking views of the new groups entering the venue. That needs to be addressed for the $50 entry fee- or charge less and let customers know view indoor views will be obstructed by those using the window sill as a seat. Sooooo disappointing!

What were confirmed Top of the Rock Tickets were not recognized as tickets but supposedly only vouchers to be exchanged. Lots of difficulty at the venue entrance

Excellent! I’d highly recommend this tour. We booked for 6:05pm and arrived at the entrance at 6:05pm.. to be admitted entry in front of 200+ people that were waiting in cues.. We were at the top about two minutes later. We stayed until 8:30pm and while it was pretty crowded by then the exit process was smooth and we were back on the street by 9:00.

Our tickets for Top of the Rock purchased via Viator did not work despite having a confirmed date, time, and ticket from Viator. We were charged by Viator $173.11, waited in line and up on entry were told our tickets weren’t validated. We are waiting for a full refund. This was a waste of our last evening in NYC. Very disappointed.

We very much enjoyed the experience of being on top of the rock.
The entrance was smooth and barely had to wait to go in the lift as I read it could get very busy but the timed entrance worked well. Trying to get back tho was a different kettle of fish. We were on top and the queues to get back down were immense and it was cold and very windy.
It was probably everyone who had stayed to see the lights come on as when it was still bright outside, the queues weren’t there so beware.

Just remarkable - the view are simply stunning. We went at sunset which is peak time, so it was rammed, but still worth going.

It was pretty expensive, everything was closed.
It rained and there weren’t many options to reschedule, and the cancelling fee was 100% with bistro. You’re in NYC, there are a million ways to better use that money, and if you really want to go to an observation deck just buy tickets to the Empire State Building.
