What To Expect

The cuisine of Provençe boasts a unique fusion of flavors, blending the rich complexity of French food with rustic simplicity borrowed from neighboring Italy. With countless eateries and shops, Nice is bursting with this authentic flavor, if you know where to look. Make your way to the heart of old town, known as Vieux Nice, to meet your local foodie guide. Learn about the area’s history and Italian influence as you wander through narrow lanes and past charming sidewalk cafes.

Along the way, stop in an assortment of local markets and specialty food shops hand-picked for their variety and authenticity. Sample Provençal cuisine such as a pissaladière onion tart, stuffed vegetables called petits farcis and a Niçoise salad sandwich served on fresh-baked pain de campagne. Taste locally produced cheeses, olive oil, and wine, plus a sweet almond candy known as calisson. During tastings, chat with your guide and shop proprietors to learn how to incorporate local flavor into your cooking at home.

In between delicious dishes, visit other local highlights including a Baroque church, the colorful Cours Saleya flower market, and Castle Hill for fantastic sea and city views. After walking, nibbling and sipping, say farewell to your guide near Nice’s Place Rossetti.

Fantastic food and fantastic guide

We enjoyed our tour very much. Lara was a great guide who was so friendly and helpful and who gave us a lot of good information. She mixed in some Nice history with the market walk and was helpful with any questions. The socca was fantastic and we felt like we got an insider guide to the food and a lot of the best places.

We loved everything about it. Our guide Marion (not the proper spelling) spoke very good English, was fun, light and very personable. She is a French history expert and took us to many wonderful shops and restaurants. We had plenty of delicious interesting food on the tour.

I did send you a screenshot showing we tried many times to contact you (on the phone number you provided) to let you know that the tour was cancelled due to torrential rain storm forecasted. Regarding refund you should have received the full repayment 3 to 4 days after cancellation.

The chickpea beer was an unexpected treat along with the three wines we sampled. You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this tour and would go again!

Carmella our tour guide was absolutely incredible. We learned so much and the tour was paced perfectly. We felt like we had enough time to enjoy every tasting - she did a great job of balancing tastings in the market and local shops. I really appreciated the picnic at the end - a beautiful way to wrap up the morning. Could not recommend this tour more!
