A Fun Way to Try an E-Bike

Learn some local history while, in my case, having a first E-bike experience, This is not a vigorous ride but a trip through the streets of Orvieto. Our genial and knowledgeable guide/ lunch host gave us enough information for me to appreciate the span of history before me without losing me in a fog of detail. A great morning topped off with a delicious lunch and ending with a tour of the caves.

The guide was knowledgeable about history and Orvieto. The e-bike was too much for me. I fell and we missed the cave tour. Paolo did get us Duomo tickets instead. A city with cobble streets, cars and many pedestrians was too much for a person who never rode an e-bike before.

Easy train 90min ride from Rome to Orvieto. Arrived at 2pm for the the 4pm tour. Perfect to avoid the heat and spend time in the Cathedral before the tour started. The guide was very patient and understanding with our tired and hungry 8yo, the kids bikes are not Electric but that didn’t matter because it was easy riding for them. The access and tour of the underground areas included as part of the tour was so interesting and the package together was a really good family tour with a beautiful meal at the end. We then left Orvieto on a 9:30pm train. There was a cheap shuttle bus from the Duomo square to the train station.

Only the two of us on a hot afternoon however the breeze from bike riding and shady streets made the trip wonderful. Paulo on our bike tour was very knowledgeable and a historian that really made the tour informative. The underground tunnel tour was excellent and the dining experience really lovely. Highly highly recommended! First time on e bike and I’m 63 years old! Anyone can do this tour Thanks!

Paolo was an amazing guide. He brought the rich history of Orvieto to life as we stood inside the St. Andrea Church, the first stop on our tour. By the end of the tour, we felt like we'd had a mini college course in Italian history. The bikes were so fun and made it easy to cover lots of ground. The food and wine at the last stop were delicious and plentiful in a cozy local setting. This tour was one of the highlights of a month in Italy and I highly recommend it!

Paolo was excellent. He showed us the true Orvieto. The love he has for this town is obvious. The biking was super fun! Dinner was amazing. The owners mom made several courses while enjoying the view and the wine.

Paolo was a kind, knowledgeable, patient, and very educated guide! We had a wonderful time discovering beautiful medieval Orvieto, and we learned so much! He took us to a church that was built in 1006 and another that represents the many layers of this fascinating town down through the centuries going back to the 16th century BC. Even my Italian husband who is from this area learned a lot! We also had an absolutely divine dinner in the Duomo Square that featured three different wonderful wines and delicious food prepared by the Cantina proprietor’s mother! Highly recommend it!!!

Paolo’s tour was excellent, informative & fun. We unfortunately had horrible weather meaning we could not ride bikes (rain and cobblestones do not mix well) but he changed plans and offered us a great walking tour all around the city. We learned so much about the history of Orvieto and enjoyed a lovely lunch at the end of the tour.

A great way to learn the history of the city, see the views, and experience a glimpse of local culture. An archeological wonder. The lunch in the piazza was lovely. The e-bikes make the uphill climbs manageable for anyone who can ride a bicycle. The guide was very knowledgeable and clearly takes pride in the city and it’s history.

Many times we wander around a City to explore. Orvieto requires a guide! Otherwise you could miss out on the history and layers and underground from the past. This tour, while light on biking, was still a great tour of the City. Paulo was very knowledgeable and answered questions. The City is small, so there was limited biking. Still a lot of fun. Five Stars!
