What To Expect

Begin your comprehensive self-guided tour of Norway from the Oslo Train Station. When booking, provide your hotel details, and your package of transportation tickets will be dropped off at your hotel. Departure times vary depending on the time of year.

Climb aboard the Bergen Railway and travel west to Myrdal, where you'll disembark and change to the Flåm Railway. Keep your camera handy for sweeping views of Norway's wilderness and the fjords.

Transfer to a boat for a fjord cruise on the Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord. Both offer terrific views, and the Nærøyfjord is one of Europe's narrowest, included on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Step off your cruise in Gudvangen, where you'll climb aboard a bus for a trip through Nærøydalen's mountain scenery and quaint villages. Seasonally (summer), the bus will take on the steep and winding Stalheimskleiva to Voss, where you'll take the Bergen Railway back to Bergen.

This tour is entirely self-guided, and you can move at your own pace.

The Flam railway provided great views. Among them was a timely stop as we exited a tunnel; an unexpected and amazing waterfall awaited us. Pictures snapping galore! And the fjord views from the boat awesome!

Norway in a Nutshell

This is a great way to see the true beauty of Norway. My husband and I (in our 60's) had no trouble navigating the route as everything was spelled out for us. We met many wonderful people during our trip and the scenery was spectacular. I highly recommend this trip.

Great scenery, bad company to book the tour with

The views were awesome but our first train was delayed due to bad rail road conditions and it delayed everything else. I reached out to Easy Travel and they said we will miss the bus cause everything is booked so closely together. They said we should take a cab for a 2 hour drive! I asked other travelers that booked with other companies and they said their company assured them that the boat and the bus will wait. We decided to risk it and follow the other travelers which I’m glad we did or we would have missed out on the beautiful boat ride.

For train lovers and light travellers

Generally it was an OK trip, the scenery was very good. However, it’s quite tiring to be lugging luggages around from train to train. Especially the train to Flåm, it was very packed and everyone was fighting their way up the train. There wasn’t enough space for luggage storage anymore and I had to hold on to it. The tickets were a little confusing (we thought the cruise ride was a round-trip ticket), my friend and I needed to stay over at Stalheim for the night as we left our luggages at Flåm. We needed to give up our train tickets from Voss to Bergen in the end. Nevertheless, it was a good detour as Stalheim was really beautiful. In conclusion, I think it is a tour suitable for light travellers.

Too long and not worth it. Trains are super crowded and it is difficult to find a seat. The scenery is just as good or better in the US The only good part was the fiord cruise So fly to Bergen and go on fiord cruises from there Don’t waste your money on the excursion.

Flexibility is key

Unfortunately, the boat from Flåm to Gudwangen was cancelled due to technical difficulties (beyond anyone’s control), but Viator was quick to reach out with alternate travel plans and happy to refund those legs of the journey I had to forego. As I was traveling alone, I was lucky enough to hop on a different boat and enjoy my time on the fjord. I was determined to not miss out on this once in a lifetime adventure and I’m so glad I did not. Absolutely breathtaking! Part of traveling is going with the flow. Thank you, Viator, for being so accommodating.

The tour was wonderful. The impressive landscapes. Everything worked as expected. The route was intuitive. The seats on the first train are free. The boat was moored at gate 1. Except the reservation agent as good as it gets

The reservation agent tried to put us on 6 AM train from Oslo, and only after requesting a refund the agent provided tickets for 8:30 AM train (as advertised) Otherwise the trip was great

Itenerary was easy to follow. Make sure you get to the train station on time. It leaves on the dot. The whole day was organized and the departure times are accurate. Definitely worth the trip out of Oslo. So beautiful. I did this solo and found it easy.

Worst Excursion in more than 30 Years of Travel

It takes talent to sell expensive excursions, watch them go off the rails and absolve yourself of all responsibility but congratulations to Viator-they did it. Oslo-Bergen, self-guided, with the Flam Railway (25 minutes, Myrdal to Flam) and a 2 hour fjord cruise (Flam to Gudvangan) being the reason for the excursion-the rest was transportation, mainly by train. In a nutshell, the cruise didn't happen. They knew it wouldn't happen-all earlier cruises were cancelled and it wasn't due to weather or other natural causes-but they did absolutely NOTHING to address or assist. We were stranded in Flam for two hours in the pouring rain-Flam is tiny and 95% shut down for the winter, with only a tiny cafe and shop open. We were then bussed to Gudvangan, which is even smaller, and had only a hotel reception area open, where we were stuck for more than an hour before being bussed to the Voss train station where, you guessed it, we waited for more than an hour in the wind and rain for a train. WHY?? Why was there no Plan B? Why was there no coach or something to take us from Flam to Voss to pick up one of several earlier trains? We could have at least salvaged part of the day instead of having to sit around, cold, wet and miserable, wondering why we'd paid £350+ for one of the worst travel experiences ever. They refunded a tiny portion of the cost and said it was for the cruise part, but that's nowhere near enough. It's inexcusable that they seem to think that this is acceptable.

This refund covers the costs of the trains and any other components of the excursion that were affected. Trip was great, went during the winter snow storm but still awesome. We got a room and stayed overnight in Bergen. That city is awesome!! Took a night train back with sleeping car and it was perfect!
