Oslo Nature Walks: Josh and Martin From Viking and biking tour guide were awesome! Giving us lots of interesting facts about the Oslofjord and the islands. We stopped at four different islands, and had the opportunity to have lunch and go for a swim in the Oslofjord. The whole trip was amazing. I’d highly recommend it! Another bonus was the boat ticket. We used to get between the islands activated free public transportation for the next 24 hours in the city 👍🏼

Visiting Oslo

We had a great day with our guide Christina and she showed us four islands of various sizes and features to see. She knew the best places for views and timed it well between ferries. We enjoyed it because we got to see the natural islands around Oslo bay with views back to the city. The four hour tour/hike was fun, enjoyable, and highly recommended to see another side of Oslo.

Nice, easy day island hopping….beautiful views, easy walks, great guides…..I would suggest you bring your own lunch, very limited selection on the island…
Response from Host, Sep 2023
Hi! Thanks for leaving us a review of our Island Hopping nature walk. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the spectacular views and found the guiding to be of a high standard. Our apologies regarding lunch. At this time of the year the shop on Lindøya does have a smaller selection due to it being near closing season for them. Bringing a packed lunch as an alternative is not a bad idea for anyone intending to come on tour at this time of year (September). Best wishes, Romek
A great way to see the islands around Oslo!
Michael_M, Aug 2023
This was a nice opportunity to see the outskirts of Oslo and learn about the incredible history of various islands. Our guides were amazing, and I would highly recommend this company to anyone. We enjoyed being able to get on and off the boat at different stops, do a little walking, have lunch, and learn about the Norway culture from a different perspective. Thank you!

Hi there, Thanks very much for this detailed review. So good to hear that you enjoyed the walking tour with Josh and Martin, who I am sure gave a great balance between both an outdoor education expert perspective and a local Oslo perspective. I wish you all the best on your travels! Thanks, Niamh
Take the time to do this fun activity!
Melinda_R, Aug 2023
We had an excellent time! Martin and Micky were our guides and they were GREAT! If you have the time do it!
Response from Host, Aug 2023
Hi Melinda, Thanks for your kind review! You were certainly in good hands on tour with Martin and Mikki, who are both from Oslo originally and can give a proper insider perspective of the beautiful islands of Oslo. Hope you have had a fantastic holiday! Thanks, Niamh
Great tour - great guides

The rain stopped when the tour started. Amazing islands and great guides (Bekka and her Scottish colleague) shared a lot of insights and were great hosts. A must do tour in Oslo
Response from Host, Aug 2023
Hello! Thank you very much for your kind review of our walking tour around the islands of Oslo! I am that Scottish colleague, and I would like to say that it was an absolute pleasure having you all on tour and I am glad to hear you had a good time. I hope the rest of your holiday has been fantastic! All the best, Niamh
Excellent trip "just" outside the city
Matthew_R, Aug 2023
This was one of our family members favorite trips. Got out of the city into the "cabin culture" of Oslo - to the islands outside the city. Each island with its own focus. We loved walking through the cabins, getting a quick lunch and dip in the fjord, and the monestary ruins were also great. Highly recommend. The tour guide we had (PhD) might have been a little overqualified, but he answered all questions and was personable as well.
Response from Host, Aug 2023
Hi Matthew. Thank you for the nice review and we are so glad you enjoyed seeing a more local side of Oslo, focused on nature and the simple cabin life. Jon is an amazing guide, and like most of us here, he is over-qualified. It is what makes our company unique: most of us have master's degrees, law degrees or even a PhD, but we guide for the love of it! What a fun job we have :-)

Beautiful islands great history only thing you could improve is the meeting point isn't clear say to pass clock tower meeting point is in front of the nobel peace center building your point says look for orange tower which is a steel container box
Response from Host, Aug 2023
Hi Edie. Thank you for the positive review and we will go over how the meeting point is described. Our tour is re-sold on dozens of websites so it is useful to get feedback about certain details like meet-up description point from the customers. It is much appreciated!
Island hopping with the BEST!
Marjorie_S, Aug 2023
We had the most delightful day. The weather was beautiful Norway summer day. Our two guides were lovely. Professional, knowledgeable, and so fun. Fast pace helps walking with some short steep inclines but the views were all worth it. Would have enjoyed for the tour to be a half an hour longer to afford for a longer times eating lunch on the beach but I consider the day was a great success. A+
Response from Host, Aug 2023
Hello and thank you for the taking the time to write such a positive review of our Island Hopping nature walk. When the sun is shining there are few places that beat Oslo during the summer. We agree the views from the islands are well worth the effort; we do take great care to ensure that the route is suitable for as many people as possible. Thank you also for commenting on the professionalism, knowledge and good humour of our guides. We appreciate that you would have enjoyed extra time on the lovely beach on Lindøya. Sometimes people do indeed decide to leave the tour at this point as it is such a beautiful spot for swimming and relaxing, although this does mean missing the final stop with our guides. We hope you had fun during the rest of your stay. Best wishes, Romek

The views were beautiful. The guides were great. I especially enjoyed John's knowledge of the history of the monastery.
Response from Host, Aug 2023
Hello and thank you for sharing your experience of our Island Hopping walking tour. We agree the views are spectacular and are very lucky that these islands are within a stone's throw of Oslo city centre. I will pass on your kind words about the quality of the guiding and am pleased to hear that you got so much from Jon's intimate knowledge of the monastery ruins on Hovedøya. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay whilst in this fantastic city. Best wishes, Romek
Enjoyable excursion

The guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. They shared lots of info with all the travelers. They kept us safe and on time.
Response from Host, Aug 2023
Hello and thank you leaving a lovely review. of our Island Hopping walking tour, a great way to see the glorious nature the city of Oslo has to offer. We are glad that you found our guides knowledgeable, punctual, friendly and safety-conscious. We hope that you enjoy the rest of your travels. Best wishes, Romek
Overpriced
Matthew_S, Jul 2023
The islands are interesting to visit and have cool history, but it’s not worth paying $50 a head for this tour. The tour guide did not add much information and missed some ferries so we had to wait longer at the docks. You can instead buy a day pass and hop the islands yourself (and read up on the history later).

This was the perfect way to spend a day outside in Oslo. Traveling on the ferry island hopping and then hiking around each island with a fun and knowledgeable guide is the BEST !!! Thank you for such a fun day !!!
Great way to spend an afternoon!
Joanna_F, Jul 2023
Lived swimming in the "fjord" both guides were very knowledgeable and fun. Made for a nice day getting to know the outskirts of oslo!
We enjoyed seeing all...
Steven_T, Jul 2023
We enjoyed seeing all three islands, especially the ruins of the monastery. Patrick was a terrific guide who told the best stories, not only of the history of the islands but also of his childhood adventures there.
Loved this tour!
edward_d, Jun 2023
Loved, loved, loved this tour! Martin may be the best guide in the history of modern tourism. We highly recommend and enjoyed learning about the local culture and traditions.
