Your driver will be waiting for you at the entrance of the port and will be holding a sign with your name on it. To get to this area you have to first pickup the cruise ship’s free shuttle directly below your ship and take the 2 minute ride to the main car-park area.

What To Expect

Meet your driver at the exit from La Spezia cruise port for morning departure, then relax on the drive to Florence in a comfortable, climate-controlled vehicle. As you enter the historic center of the city, your driver shares a bit about Florence’s grand past and vibrant culture, then drive past city highlights, stopping at your leisure to explore the sights independently.

See the Gothic Basilica di Santa Croce where Michelangelo, Galileo, and Dante are buried, and soak up the atmosphere on the Piazza del Duomo. Other favorite stops include the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto’s Tower, and the Piazza della Repubblica, and you have the option to visit the Accademia Gallery (own expense), which houses Michelangelo’s David, as well as a remarkable collection of Renaissance paintings.

After a break for lunch, leave the city on the road to Pisa, an 11th-century port city with beautifully-preserved architecture. Learn about the city as you enjoy a driving tour of top Pisa landmarks, from the Piazza dei Miracoli to the Campo Santo cemetery and the famed leaning tower.

Following the driving tour of Pisa, enjoy time on your own to keep exploring the city on foot, then meet back up with the driver for the return trip to La Spezia, where this full-day tour concludes.

driver picked us from cruise ship terminal--he was great. told us ot about his country; would recommend a walking tour guide with driver to get the most out of your trip.

Our driver took us to a place above the city of Florence where the view were marvelous. Most of the tours just stop at Pisa and The center of Florence.

Stephano picked us up for the private tour of Pisa and Florence. He was very friendly and spoke good English. He was very knowledgeable and very informative. We went to Pisa first and saw the leaning tower. We didn't spend much time in Pisa because there is not a lot to see. On to Florence where you could easily spend some time. We saw the sights and Stephano had arranged for a great lunch for us. It was a great way to see Pisa and Florence in 9 hours. Private tour is the only way to go. You can see things that the cruise tour can't. Would definitely do it again and with Stephano.

We needed a driver to get from La Spezia to Florence and Pisa and back. We had a good one. His personality helped the kilometers fly by and then he gracefully navigated through the narrow streets and by ways. Although we only had one day for this excursion, it was a full day and we saw a remarkable range of sites. When time permits, we would like to come back to get more details and history.

Alessandro was the very best driver/guide we had in Italy. The van was impeccable. We went to Pisa and then to Florence. Alessandro was a wonderful driver - was able to get us up close to everything we wanted to see. We even went off the beaten path to see some beautiful views of Tuscany. In just one day, we managed to see all the main sites and even had time for the best pizza and gelato in Florence. Great day and a real highlight for my family. Thank you!

Our driver, Carlo, picked us up at our villa right on time, and proceeded to do an excellent job of both driving and narrating our day's adventures...we went to Pisa first, then headed for Florence. He found parking close by, and directed us precisely when we slipped in to see 'David' for an hour...He delivered us back to our villa after an excellent day!
