    Informative and interesting
    SusanCorinne_J, Feb 2024
We had a small group of 4 couples in a small van - perfect size! Our tour guide spoke English and Spanish fluently and provided lots of interesting information. The drive was long - but comfortable. The elephant seals and seal lions were observable from at sea level from the tops of ridges. The penguins were very close to us, and a small wire fence prevented humans walking in their areas. A tasty box lunch was included.
    A unique landscape

We went to the visitors' centre which was informative before traveling on to see the penguins and seals. On the way we were fortunate to see a maras, the funny little dog like hare only found in this part of the world. We also saw a little burrow owl sitting at the front of its home, an armadillo and guanacos which are like llamas or alpacas. The Valdes Peninsular is extremely different from anything we have seen before...sort of green runnels in the low tide almost like looking at a newly planted vineyard...with seals popping up here and there.

If you want 5 hours on a bus, then this is for you.
    MrPatrick_W, Mar 2020
You didn't tell us when we booked that it would be a 2 and a half hour journey to Peninsula Valdes, and then 2 and a half hours back with the last hour on a gravel track with the bus slipping and sliding. 5 hours on the bus for 30 minutes, on the peninsula. It was absolutely pouring with rain and we saw 5 sea lions about 400 yards away and about 3 to 4 penguins and that was it. Absolutely pathetic. I know you have no control over the weather, but the day was that bad that Princess cruises refunded their trippers their money back and it would be a good gesture if you did the same. Sorry, but i was there when the vehicle arrive to the pier after the tour ends, as i always did, and i was asking everyone how was the tour, both of you never tell me anything in that moment, this and the other comments are a surprise to me, we make our best, and we offer to change the tour to all of you that day when we saw the rain, and i asked all of you that. As i told you in the other comment of your relative it was a weather problem, out of our range, If you want a refund we can give you that , but you should tell us about this problem as soon as you saw us in the pier when you come back from the tour
    Rubbish trip.
    Peter_W, Mar 2020
This was by far the worst trip we have ever been on. There was a 170 kilometre on board a bus, of the most boring scenery, which was yawningly bad. 30 kilometres of the road was rough track like something out of the film MAD MAX. On arrival at the beach we saw, 3 Magellan penguins close up, 20-40 feet away. Perhaps 6 elephant seals on a beach at a distance of 3/4 mile away Plenty of seal lions on an island about 1 mile away, which we could hardly see due to the sea mist. We did get to see a burrowing owl next to its burrow 10 yards away, and 3 armadillos about 40 yards away, while the coach was moving. That was it !!! The cost was £94.48 each.

We regret the bad experience you had, in this case as I see the vehicle and the guide was not the problem but the wildlife you saw was not as expected and the road less. Unfortunately, although Peninsula Valdes is one of the 3 best places in Argentina to see animals in the wild, it is not a Zoo and sometimes luck can play in favor to see animals a little closer or further. It is a UNESCO World Heritage reserve, so that the intervention on the roads is also impossible, since they cannot be paved and that makes everything more difficult when it rains. We regret again your bad experience, and that the tour and the destination has not met your expectations, unfortunately it is not something we can change or improve. We hope you can give the destination a second chance as it has a lot to offer, more in whale season, during September and October.
    Beautiful day on Peninsula Valdes
    Marta, Feb 2020
We had a great day on Peninsula Valdes. The van and tour guide were on time at the port, picked us up in a comfortable van. The driver was professional. The tour guide - Mariana - was very friendly and knowledgeable. She shared a lot of information about the flora / fauna of the peninsula, the history and culture of the region. We spent an awesome day! We saw Magellan penguins, sea lions, a hairy armadillo, guanaco (lama) mara and more... I do recommend this tour.

Dreadful experience - I would NOT recommend this excursion!!!
    Liri, Feb 2020
The young lady who was supposed to translate into English - was unable to a) translate even the most basic words & had no Idea how to use a microphone! Totally useless & should NOT BE EMPLOYED AGAIN!! The German/Spanish lady knew her info & was very keen! We could actually understand her even though she did not speak English because her diction was clear!!

We regret your bad experience on our tour, all comments help us to improve our service further. That day we do not have a bilingual guide, so we think that the best option was to add an interpreter but we see that we fail, we hope that at least the great fauna that Peninsula Valdes has to offer has helped make the trip enjoyable . We invite you to visit the destination again and take an excursion with us again for free in compensation. We want to show you that as you will see in our other comments we have, we are very serious and we take the opinion into account and definitely, thanks to you it is clear that we should not use more interpreters in our tours for more than an emergency.
Great wildlife, poor speaker and information
    Scott_O, Feb 2020
This one we are mixed on. The tour had a guide who did not speak English, but seemed to be knowledgeable. She would communicate a message to an interpreter and then the interpreter told us. It sure lacked continuity and I know the messages did not come out well, so we missed out on some key education/information opportunities. Also the mic/speaker in the van was bad and it broke up all the time so we missed out on more. The Van driver was awesome and spotted wildlife that was amazing along the road and in the fields. Would recommend it, but get a good van and if you are an English speaker, get an guide who speaks English.

Bring binoculars. You will need them to see anything worthwhile.
    Johanna_O, Feb 2020
The tour guide was terrific. However, the bus was old and driving on dusty unpaved roads was challenging. Also, we did this same tour about 15 years ago and the difference in proximity to the wildlife as well as a gargantuan increase in the number of visitors compared to our previous visit was stunningly disappointing. It is now mass market.

    Guanacos all over
    Thomas_B, Feb 2020
Wonderful variety of wildlife including guanacos, rheas, maras, an owl, penguins, and sea lions. We just missed seeing furry armadillos. The only downside was that the guide's translator struggled with English and with the bus's sound system.

    Nice tour

Guide, driver and guide assistance were very good. The tour was good. It’s like a long ride to watch some marine animals from kind of distance

Interesting day on the Valdes Peninsula. Long bus ride but worth it for the opportunity to see elephant seals, penguins in their natural habitat. Very well organized tour - professional and warm tour guides

    Rough ride
    bobbrax, Feb 2020
2+ hours on rough gravel roads and all we saw were a few penguins up close and a few sea lions from a distance. Our guide spoke Spanish with little English, so another person was there to interpret. There just wasn't enough to see to justify committing a full day. A tight-fitting van didn't help matters.
    Response from Host, Feb 2020
Thank you so much for your opinion. We are sorry that you did not enjoy the tour, we always do our best to bring you a very nice experience. We had 2 reviews of the same day and same tour and as you will see they were good. Unfortunately in Patagonia the distances are very long, which also helps that they are places with less human impact and are more virgin places. Peninsula Valdes is in the top 3 of the best places to see wild animals in Argentina, it is not a zoo and we depend a lot on natural issues the amount of animals that will be seen, each day is a different experience. We also remind you that it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so you will always be a considerable distance from the animals so as not to affect them in their natural environment. We believe that your rating was a bit hard on us, but we respect it. We invite you to return to the destination and in case you want closer encounters with animals I recommend the Pta Tombo Penguin reserve and Isla Escondida where you can walk between Elephant Seals and be more close to them. Best regards, Alex
    Puerto Valdes Rocks!

We ended up having a private tour for the two of us. Our guide was great--good English, friendly, and provided in depth animal/nature info. He also responded to our need for walking and getting up close, while driving many back road miles. Great adventure.

    Schöne Tour Halbinsel Valdés
    Wilfried_K, Nov 2023
