What To Expect

Start your horseback-riding trip in the morning at Carabalí Rainforest Adventure Park in Luquillo. After selecting a horse and mounting up, you’ll be ready to trot off for a horseback ride through the Puerto Rican countryside. A guide will be ready to help less-experienced riders.

Guide your horse on a ride through the crystal-clear waters of the Mameyes River, passing through the island’s lush tropical forests. You’ll soon hear the crashing of waves as you reach Puerto Rico’s famous Luquillo Beach. Celebrate your successful ride by enjoying a cocktail at a tropical bar (own expense), swimming the warm waters, or relaxing on the beach.

    This experience was the best! Fantastic views of the rainforest and beach! Edwin the tour guide was awesome and gave excellent riding advice; the bar on the beach was really fun too! Highly recommend this tour!

    We had such a wonderful time. Its an amazing experience! The tour guides were so helpful. The check in and instructions were very easy and clear. They took us to a private beach and the beach had a beach house where we can get food and drinks! 10/10 recommend!

    Not in the rainforest. It's in the woods by a river and a road and they take you to a beach. Not bad but not what it says.

    This tour was beyond amazing. We had the best time. The staff were so friendly and attentive & horses were so kind and gentle. I went with my two 19 year olds who loved it.

    I left the experience with mixed feelings to where I would not give my support to this company again. On one hand, it was very memorable and the ride to and from beach was beautiful. The little break at the beach bar was nice. On the negative side about the experience, the majority of the trail was walking along a pathway adjacent to the freeway, and was quite loud. The other extreme negative of this experience are my observations of how the horses are treated. For the most part, the horses were in good condition and sound, but I did see one horse that showed clear signs of pain, especially in the hind end. It had furrowed brows, labored breathing, and was quite stiff in it’s hocks. The tack was really tight on their noses, and a lot of hair underneath had been rubbed off in consequence. One of our guides was riding her own horse, and you could tell she really cared about her horse, on the other hand, the other guide, Alexander, in my opinion was treating his horse very poorly. Also, I saw a horse completely slide out from underneath themselves and fall in the barn-while this was one of the guides horses, and nobody was on the horse, and they did look over the horse after the fall-these types of accidents just shouldn’t be happening. While this is a major tourist company, and it is very clear that these horses have a job as money makers, I would have liked to have seen a little more care go towards the well-being of the horses. This is just my honest opinion as an equestrian rider who has two horses of her own and over 20 years of experience.

    Horseback riding was so much fun! We rode through forest, streams, and in the ocean! After about an hour riding we hitched our horses at a canteen on the beach and had food and drinks. Then we made the hour long trail back to the stables. The staff knew their jobs!

    Jonathan and Angel were fantastic guides. The horses were beautiful and very gentle. I appreciated the adherence to safety in requiring helmets. Scenery was amazing and the beach was quiet and lovely!

    Such a great experience. I wont lie my inner thighs are on fire!!! Maybe im out of shape or maybe it's normal either way be prepared. The beach was beautiful! My horse was named Bronco and he was giving me the flux at the beginning but on the way back he got it together. 10/10 recommend!

    I really really loved this adventure! David was my guide. He was energetic. I felt safe in his knowledge of the activities we did. I have been on lots of excursions and I would go with him again! The drive was lots of fun! As a group we all connected well. The first stop was a unigue road store. Fruits, local coffee selections, a variety of souvenirs and local food. Second stop was the waterfalls!! So much fun! As you can tell by my picture. David made sure we were all safe here. Water was very refreshing. Our last stop was a lovely beech. Nice sand, restful and a nice end to our trip. They had a row of shops with food, drinks and souvenirs. Out of 4 activities this is one of two I would do again!
    Good horse ride, but be mindful of timing.

    We were informed on Viator along with the tour company via email and later by text the day of the tour to get there at least 45 minutes before the 1:30pm tour starts and if we come after there is no refund. I contacted the tour company to confirm that I need to get there so early and was told that if I come early that I would get on the earlier tour that would start at 1:10 and get more time on the horses and the beach. And that the beach area gives us time to swim or eat at a local bar. My fiance and I got there an hour early, well before most of the other attendees, and sat in the waiting area as we were instructed. At 1:10, one of the tour people came out and randomly selected a various people to take the 1:10. I informed her I was there before most of those people as I was instructed and she responded that the 1:10 is at capacity and they cant have more than 28 people. She then asked which time i booked for and when i said 1:30 she said the 1:30 would take off in 15 minutes. After about 30 minutes, I was called to go to the tour.... The horse ride itself was fine, the horses know the path and you dont really have to control them all that much beyond making sure they dont stop to eat the tall grass on the sides of the path. Most of the ride is through the forest and the last 20% or so is on the beach. Both very fun. There is a stop a little over midway through the tour at a beach bar. We were there maybe 30-40 minutes. Plenty of time to get a snack and drink at the bar or take a quick dip in the water, but not both. In short, the horse ride and the beach bar was good but as with most things in Puerto Rico dont expect much regarding timing they move at their own pace.
