What To Expect

Start your day with morning pickup from your Punta Cana hotel.

Relax during the scenic one-hour drive by air-conditioned bus to the baseball stadium in La Romana. There, gain insight into the popularity of the sport in the Dominican Republic. Continue to the Tabacalera Garcia to learn how cigars are manufactured.

Then, head to nearby Altos de Chavon, a large resort that resembles a medieval European village. It was built in the 1970s by a Hollywood set designer, and contains boutique shops, an art gallery and design school, restaurants, golf courses, and oceanside mansions. Have free time to check out sights. Next, board a riverboat for a lunch cruise along the Chavon River. Soak in the scenery and find out where movies like Apocalypse Now and Rambo II were filmed. A lunch featuring grilled lobster is served on board, along with unlimited drinks.

After your river cruise, return to your bus and head towards Punta Cana, stopping in Higüey to see the Basilica de La Altagracia, the largest and most important cathedral in the country. Your tour ends with return to your hotel in the late afternoon.

Rudy S, Feb 2018
This was a tour with varied experiences. We loved just driving through the countryside and getting an idea of the real Dominican. The bus was fairly comfortable but it was difficult to take pictures through the tinted windows. We enjoyed the the various stops but far too much emphasis was placed on shopping rather than really exploring the couple of small museums we saw. We felt rushed to get to the next market. The river cruise was lovely once it stopped raining.
