Our trip was ruined by the tour guide

We paid extra to have a private event since we were traveling with our 10 month old baby. Unfortunately the tour guide was sick and was coughing throughout our event. We were in a private van with the tour guide coughing. We all ended up catching an upper respiratory infection and a fever the next day including my baby; the remainder of our trip was ruined. Hopefully this is an isolated incident : /

My partner and I knew we wanted to do a private day trip to Saona island during our vacation, just the two of us, and we were so lucky to have found Tatiana and this listing. They allowed us to adjust the pickup time that better suited us, which was great. We were picked up and greeted by our guide, Tatiana and Jesus was our lovely driver. The ride was comfortable and easy, allowing us to choose music or quiet time so I could read. We made our way to the beach, boarded the comfortable boat (we picked option 1 to have the bigger more comfortable boat, highly recommend!) with our captain and his right hand man. We quickly soared out into the beautiful ocean and stopped about half an hour later to do some snorkeling where there was hundreds of beautiful fish. Only thing I will say is it’s a little difficult to get back into the boat on the small ladder when there’s waves and the boat is leaning against you. But the captain helped and all was good! We then got over to Saona island, and it literally took our breath away. The water color is absolutely stunning. We “parked” on the smaller part of the island, opposite where all the giant party boats anchor, and made a quick 5 minute walk through the “jungle” (which is just the main path through the island, it was a beautiful walk) and we passed the resident donkey, one of his jobs being the trash man, who keeps the island running and clean! The sounds of the island’s birds were incredible. We arrived at the beach well ahead of all the huge catamaran boats and droves of people and had our pick of lounge chairs. Plenty of shade or sun options. The water itself was INCREDIBLE. Perfect temperature, not too many waves, just incredible. The provided lunch, made by locals, was a wonderful meal of meats salads and fresh fruit. Something for everyone. Because we did a private tour, we were able to decide how long we wanted to stay, which is worth every penny in and of itself. Little did I know, my partner was scheming with Tatiana and after a long lounge on the beach and a lazy swim my partner proposed to me! Tatiana captured every moment, a video of the proposal and tons of photos. We were SO incredibly lucky to have her, she has photography experience and I cannot say enough about having her share our super special moments. We cried and hugged together after the fact. Just so incredibly grateful she was there and did so much to capture those moments for us. We left Saona after a few hours and headed out to see the starfish and some really cool scenery along the coast. Unfortunately, the starfish were very well hidden that day but we did manage to find three! This was Tatiana’s favorite place, and it was a joy to be there with her. You can tell how much she genuinely loves her home here, the nature and wildlife. We made our way back to the village where Jesus was waiting to bring us home. I cannot say enough good things about our day, it was absolutely perfect and everything we hoped for. A day none of us will ever forget, especially me and my new fiancé. Thank you Tatiana and your team, from the bottom of our hearts, for such a magical day. I hope our paths cross again someday! All our love, Kim and Mike

The tour guide Tanya was amazing!!! She made sure we were taking care of all the time. Being at the beach before everyone and being able to have time away from all the other tourist is definitely worth it!!!

Guys this is the way to go when looking to see Saona island. Especially if your a couple or small group. You get to the beach way ahead of everyone and get to stay longer than others doing the catamaran/ large groups. Our guides worked hard to make sure we were happy with our experience and our questions answered. We opted for the lobster lunch which was amazing! So much good food. The natural pool was very cool and relaxing because you arrive at after the crowds have already left. All in all an amazing way to experience Saona island in a less busy way! Thanks Artem and Fadi For making our trip special.
