This was an amazing tour, Our guide, Alex, was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We saw sloths, howler monkeys, many unique birds, crabs, iguanas and more! We leaned a lot about the flora and fauna as well. I highly recommend this tour to anyone hoping to see wildlife in the National Park. Having a great guide (who can spot with a scope) makes all the difference! Alex even taught us about some settings on our phones that helped us get some great photos and videos through the scope. All around great time and value!

A must do if you want to see the animals.
sean_h, Apr 2024
Jacob was our tour guide and did amazing. I loved how the guides helped each other of they knew where an animal was at. You have to get a guide, they have scipes to get close views and use them to let you take close up pictures. -beach closes at 3, if you want to swim do the early tour -there is parking for 10.00 by the park. The company, not the guide picked people up at a restaurant, but didn't have room so we drove and had to pay the 10. The couple that did get a ride had to take a bus back to there car. I would just get a guide and meet them at the park. Was amazing and worth the heat.
Very knowledgeable tour guide

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about all the local animals and birds and great at finding them. He helped us get up close pictures of everything!
A bounty of wildlife with a great guide

Hans was a wonderful, knowledgeable guide who is passionate about wildlife. We saw monkeys, sloths, lizards, a spider in an elegant web shaped like an X, the head of a venomous snake, and a colorful crab. Our tour lasted slightly longer than planned because Hans stopped to show us so many breathtaking views through his telescope.
a guide is a must

I happened to be there at a very busy time, which made the guided tour much less enjoyable and no doubt kept a lot of animals away. That said, this is really the only way to go, because a trained guide with a spotting scope will see that sloth or crab the average person will not notice.
Nice time!

Hans our guide from Mikes Nature tours was excellent! He was funny, told cute stories and took awesome pictures thru his scope! Thank you Hans!

gabriella_s, Apr 2024
good tour saw a variety of different animals and bugs and the guide was really good in showing us where they were and getting photos.
the park is incredible, the tour has something to improve
fabian_j, Mar 2024
Even though the guide was very kind, he really had no initiative or desire to really show us animals, in fact we were able to see the monkeys and even deer, when we walked through the park on our own.. the tour ended 1 hour early than the app indicates

Wonderful Tour and Rolando is great guide!
Sarah_P, Mar 2024
Amazing tour!! Rolando was fantastic and went above and beyond - we saw lots of animals that we would not have been able to spot on our own. The pace of the tour was great and ended at the beach. Would strongly recommend was a highlight of our trip to see the sloths!

Our guide had excellent knowledge about the park, the animals and the animals plants. An amazing eye. We would never have seen any of the animals we saw without him
Crowded but good
Cindy_S, Mar 2024
There were a lot of separate tours going on at this location, but we did see a lot of unique wildlife. Our tour guide, Alex found quite a few animals that we would have missed. When we were done, we walked back to the main entrance on our own, which was great as we stumbled upon a group of white faced monkeys. The monkeys were close enough to touch but of course we did not touch them.
Great wildlife viewing

We had a great guide. We got to see so many animals. Our guide answered and gave us so much information regarding the park and animals. The beach was beautiful and the water was crystal
sloths and monkeys in the park
brooke_L, Feb 2024
the park was busier then i expected. i would recommend having a guide because they use telescopes to spot animals and use your phone to take pictures. the beach at the end is very beautiful with gentle waves. don’t forget your water bottle, since they do not allow store bought/plastic water bottles in the park.
A little underwhelming
clare, Feb 2024
The pick up was on time, comfortable and the driver friendly. The meet up was efficient and we were split into a group of 9. We entered the park around 8/8:30, the bathrooms were not very clean near the entrance. It was busy and there were lots of groups with guides all looking at the same thing via the telescope. We saw quite a few sloths, a couple of monkeys but not as much as I was expecting and very little with the naked eye. We stopped in a cage for fresh fruit and juice which was nice then went to the beach for 45 minutes. The guide was charming and knowledgeable but the whole trip was a little underwhelming. I think that Mikes tours did it as well as it could be done but it was a little disappointing all the same. I have seen far more wildlife around the hotel.
The Wild Life
James_M, Jan 2024
Overall it was an interesting tour. We did so much in our trip to CR that unfortunately I can't remember our guide's name, but he was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tour was a little slow and crowded at first, but as we moved along, the crowds dispersed and we began to see more and more. I would recommend.
A good national park
c4e2lee, Jan 2024
Morning tour was not the best. There were thousands of tourists packing into the national park at the same time. We still could not see any early birds flying by. Our tour guide was not eager enough to look for wildlife. He just rushed through to show us whatever other tour guides found. We did manage to see a few animals that we had not seen before when we walked on our own. All in all, we enjoyed spending time in this national park.
Fantastic Wildlife and Fantastic Tour Guide
Jack_M, Jan 2024
I don't normally bother to write reviews of activities, but on this occasion I thought it was deserved. Our groups guide Rolando (or Rolo), was fantastic. Took the time to get to know everybody by name, what they were interested in seeing and what else they had seen / done in Costa Rica. He was incredibly patient amongst the other groups of guides and guests, waiting to make sure we got to see the best possible views and angles of the animals, so that we didn't miss out. He was also very knowledgeable and informative about the types of species and their characteristics etc. I liked that we also had the option to remain in the park for longer, if we wished to. It might seem a bit pricey compared to a regular admission ticket, but I think the amount of information and wildlife you get to see from a guide more than makes up for it. Would definitely recommend.
