Byron gave us an awesome tour of the mangrove. He was incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about both the plants and wildlife of an incredible unique environment, he answered all our questions and spotted so many special specimens for us!!

The boat tour was...

The boat tour was interesting and the guide and captain did a great job identifying animals and giving everyone a chance to see. We saw two snakes, lots of sleeping birds, bats, and caiman. The negatives were the drive time to pickup other passengers and late dinner. My kids were already carsick after the 40 min drive (2 more stops for pickups) that by the time we got in the boat they were miserable. We also ended up sitting in the back and the engine exhaust made things worse. We got to dinner at 8:40 (a casual cafeteria-style buffet restaurant), which was also late for my kids. Apparently mine weren’t alone as the only two other kids on the trip ended up taking a taxi to their hotel from the restaurant because they weren’t feeling well either. The total number in our tour was 12 people.

Bare bones - Wouldn't recommend

This experience was just okay, and at times unpleasant. We were under the impression the tour would take 3 hrs. We spent 1 hrs in the bus, 2 hrs on the boat, 45 min at dinner, and another 40 or so minutes in the bus. For the price I would have expected better communication and some basic amenities offered on the boat such as water. My wife had to take the last seat available, which had a puddle of water in it. No effort was made to wipe up the puddle with a rag, so she was sitting in water for 2 hrs.

Don’t spend your money for that tour

Very expensive for what it is. The guide was very nice but I don’t think it’s worth the money. Especially when I was charged twice because the website had a problem. I asked for the refund of one of the payment and still didn’t receive anything. I went to jade tour office and they said they cannot do anything and I have to write to Viator. The food was so so. Kind of cafeteria and we had the choice between 2 different drinks… 150$ for two is too expensive for that. I did 3 tours since I am in Costa Rica and that the only one I think didn’t worth it.

The boat tour was fun and we saw lots of wildlife. This experience was at someone's house and it was a bit chaotic so we were a little unsure when we first showed up but it ended up being a good time.

This was a great tour with a very careful crew. Armando was our guide and was remarkably well informed - also very quick to find wildlife. The tour was a lot of fun and truly unique. The pick up and drop off was on time, and all equipment worked flawlessly!

Eli was a find just as the wildlife night creatures were!

Elias was our guide. It was a rainy night yet we saw so many things. Besides it being mysterious, a bit eerie and sense of adventure being in the mangroves at night in their world, Eli had such passion every time he spotted something and he spotted a lot for us! His enthusiasm and joy of the mangrove world and its creatures was infectious!!! Would do it again!!!

We loved this tour! We took our 2 year old and 10 month old with us and we all enjoyed it so much! The tour guide was certified and so knowledgeable in everything we saw! He also got rid of a little spider on the boat once our toddler saw it and freaked out! LOL he saved the day. He also took the time to entertain our kids as well as us. We saw so much! A sloth, many cool birds, lizards, and bugs! Some of us also saw a crocodile! But I didn’t look fast enough. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fun night excursion.

Oh my god, the most incredible tour! For the first twenty minutes, I was certain we wouldn't see anything, but then we turned into the mangroves and we had the most incredible tour. Our tour guide was so unbelievably friendly and enthusiastic. We saw so many animals, including the elusive silky anteater!! The tour guides were so excited when we saw it; they'd never seen one before! We saw frogs, pythons, sloths, possums, birds of all kinds, and even a few goats from a neighboring farm (very cute!). Pro tip: sit in the back and befriend the boat driver. He was even more knowledgeable than the guide and let us use his flashlight to look for animals. Also, after the tour, they'll drive you to the dinner. The dinner is good, authentic casado. We were worried they wouldn't give us dinner when we got back on the bus, but they did -- just in downtown Quepos! Also, there was a man with a handicap on our boat and they were unbelievably accommodating, helping him on and off the boat, making the tour as accessible as possible. I was really impressed and would 100% do it again.

The tour guide is the only reason I gave this tour 2 stars. He was so kind and excited about providing the experience. The tour itself was the worst I’ve ever experienced. The boat is riddled with spiders and other bugs that they could’ve cleaned off before the tour. We spent so much money and only seen lizards, birds, and leaves! It rained almost the entire time and other boats took their guests back and provided a refund, but ours continued in the rain with no animals in sight I’m guessing to not have to provide refunds 😡 The food was NOT good(my opinion) others seemed to enjoy though.

Fun night tour

This was a really fun way to do a night tour. Our guide, Ken, did a very nice job. We saw lots of nocturnal animals that he highlighted for us with a spotlight. If you want to take pictures, a camera with a zoom is better than a phone, and make sure you're familiar with manual exposure controls. Flashes aren't allowed so you'll need to use the guide's spotlight for lighting. Just don't ask why that's better than a flash for the animals!

Wow! Incredible tour!

Wow! The highest priority for our trip to Costa Rica was seeing the flora and fauna and we were a little surprised that this trip gave us more of both than any other location that we saw. Crocodiles, basalisks, boas, kinkajous, humming birds and SO much more. The trip was easy and entertaining. Elias was and enagaing and extremely knowledge guide and our captain, Jeffrey, not only expertly piloted the boat but spotted an incredible array of well camouflaged creatures. Highly recommended.

Great safari ride

Caesar and max took us to some beautiful waterfalls and a memorable ocean sunset view. The rainforest was stunning and we learned many new things about the plants, trees and other wildlife that make their home there. They were excellent tour guides and I highly recommend them. We had a blast.

This tour guide was so passionate about the rainforest it was AMAZING! This was a one on one tour no one else booked so it was a very personal experience! The tour guide brought his daughter which I just loved! I loved the safari car and the personal touches like the coconut with the coconut water and fresh coconut meat at the end with the view on top of the mountain was priceless! And the food was literally the BEST I have had all trips! Hands down the best Casado!

Fun rainforest and waterfall tour

Good tour, mild hike, very patient guide. Everyone will enjoy this tour. I found it pricey for what was offered.
