Good, could have been better

Our tour guide Vivien was great. Pick up was on time, ride was great. Our first visit to the sugar loaf was alil draggy, I wish it was shorter so that we could spend more time at other places. Lunch buffet was great, but they charged us RS 17.00 for 2 small water bottle which I felt was a rip off. Overall happy with the tour. Things could have been better.

Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf were awesome and the other adventures were mixed in at a good pace. The lunch stop was good and we enjoyed the food offerings. The guide Eduardo did a great job and the driver was always at our service. I’ve been adventuring in South America for nearly a month and this was the best tour we’ve been on.

The tour fulfilled my expectations. We covered the iteniary as provided, little time was spent picking up people, and we had enough time at the stops to take enough pictures without hurrying. Our guide (Camilla I believe was her name) was charming and caring and well organised; she provided comprehensive information about the city and sights in both English and Portguese. Lunch was also nice at the “kilo” restaurant. Had a really nice day.

Will never use Viator again.

You put Eduardo in a terrible spot on March 14 by selling a tour of Rio as English speaking and having English, Brazilian, and Japanese speaking customers in a 19 passenger bus with the worst PA system since strings in a tin can were used. He ad to repeat every single comment twice, probably resulting in almost zero information about the Rio we were driving through between stops. This was an expensive tour, and one which your customers deserve a partial refund for. We were told the tour would start pickups at various hotels at 8 AM and that we would receive information about our particular pickup by email and “chat” and we never received either. We waited outside the Hilton Copacabana for over an hour to be picked up. We eventually “lost” 3 of our passengers at one site for about a half hour because of the communication difficulties. Eduardo tried his best, but you put him in a terrible position. I am debating posting a review on TripAdvisor as I feel it would be beneficial for others to know this info before they book with Viator in Rio. Christ the Redeemer was amazing! It was great to stop at the stairs, bell tower and church. Wish we could have seen inside the soccer stadium. Sugarloaf mountain had beautiful views

Rio in a day

We were picked up right on time at our hotel which was very convenient. The cable car ride to sugar loaf mountain afforded spectacular views of Rio de Janeiro as did the ride up to the Christ the Redeemer statue. Lunch was yummy, there was plenty of food and lots of variety. Aldo, our guide, did a good job explaining the sights we were seeing. The tour was a good way to see city highlights. I liked the fact we were in a small van - not a huge tour bus.

A great taster to Rio

Teresa was our tour guide for this trip for the full day in Rio. Despite that we were the only English people on the trip, she ensured that we had all the information we needed about the places that we went to and knew timings etc. Teresa even came up to us separately to give us a mini talk about what we was looking at, at each stop. A great experience if you want to see all the sights in Rio (with plenty of time in all to explore)

Rio in a day!

Rio is a large city but this tour managed to include most of the main attractions. Hotel pick up went smoothly and Thais, our guide, pointed out passing places, with bits of history, in both English and Portuguese. It was sometimes difficult to hear when travelling over the very bumpy cobblestones - also rather uncomfortable if your back was not 100%! Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf were the main attractions and it was nice to have a guide to take us through the crowds and point us in the right direction. Lunch was varied and substantial - most people would find plenty to like - both meat eaters and vegetarians. Overall a great tour well worth the money!

Best coverage of major attractions in Rio in a single day for a good price

Very happy in selecting this tour, as it ended up being a very well spent day in Rio visiting Sugar Loaf, Corcovado, Cathedral, Seleron, and quick stops at Sambadrome and Maracana football stadium. Quite advantageous that all fees to the Corcovado and SugarLoaf were included, as well as cost of a buffet lunch. To the tour company, I recommend that they send us at least 24 hrs in advance to the tour the specific pick up time at different hotels/location. Also, that all their tour guides have a clear method to communicate tour members time and location to meet after spending free time at a given location (e.g., a wet erasable board could prevent confussion of where and when), and the guide should not leave meeting location without ensuring full count of all tour participants.

All the top sites in one day

If you are limited on time, this is a great way to see all of the major sites in one day. However, it is a tiring day (9 hours with lots of walking) and some sites (like those in the Santa Teresa neighborhood) might be more fun to do on a day that you take the tram up and explore more of the neighborhood. There is also a beach at the bottom of Sugar Loaf that could be nice to enjoy after taking in the views from above. That being said, I only know that BECAUSE I got a taste of all these great spots in one day and luckily did have a couple days afterwards that I could go back and spend more time if I wanted. Carlos was impressive switching between Portuguese, Spanish, and English. It's a fun way to meet international friends if you're feeling talkative with those in your group. The buffet dinner was quality food. The transport is comfortable.

A hard review to write

Overall, this is a great way to see all of the main sights Rio has to offer. I just really wish it was more organized. Our group leader was not clear about the times we were going to spend at all of places, and for that reason, we ended up waiting on a lot of our group members at many places. Although she was very nice, our tour guide also spoke very quietly so it was hard to hear her commentary about Rio’s history. Unfortunately, the most difficult part was at the end of the tour when we went to Sugarloaf mountain. Due to a mix up on the tour guide’s end, we ended up waiting double the amount of time compared to other groups, and our tour guide refused to communicate with us about the mix up. Although I understand mistakes can be made and that is okay, I would’ve appreciated more transparency on the matter. This made the whole experience end on a more sour note.

Poor start great tour

I feel this should have got more stars but we had a rubbish beginning. We had a pick up time of 8am downstairs 10 minutes before that. At 0820 went to front desk and asked to phone them but the man next to me said he’d been informed pick up was at 0845. I never received this information. Anyway got on the bus went to next pick up and was told we had to get off our bus and go onto another one as two parties had booked independently and found themselves on different buses so we were getting checked off to accommodate them. When I complained was told to suck it up or I’d be in for a disappointing holiday as this is the Brazil way. On the actual tour Aldo was wonderful , as was the trip itself., he took great care of us and was so informative. We included lunch and it was great for the money. Felt we saw all of the highlights of Brazil so couldn’t have asked for more. It would have been 4/5 stars if not for the poor start.
