Rain didn’t stop the tour

Our guide Serena was fantastic, friendly and full of information. The Castel was amazing. It rained before and during our tour but it didn’t dampen our experience.

Worthwhile but...

I previously visited this site with a friend and did the mobile-guided tour, which was fine and cheap, but when experiencing this guided tour with my wife I found I got a lot more information from it and a wider perspective. We had booked the express tour because we only had a short time free and didn't want to be spending too long here. However, on the day we found that we had been merged with a longer tour due to numbers and the tour was further prolonged due to some Italians booking the wrong tour. Credit to the guide for managing to do the tour in English and Italian at the same time, but the consequence of this was that it took much longer than it should have done. Although we could have left early, we would then have missed parts of the castle which would otherwise have been guided, so we were a little disappointed by this.

So much history, very interesting, well worth it

Our tour guide Valeria was amazing. We signed up for a group tour but it turned out no one else signed up and we had a private tour! Valeria was incredibly knowledgeable about so much history regarding the Castel Sant'Angelo. So many details and interesting facts we wouldn't have learned about. It made the tour so interesting. 100x better than just wandering around on our own. Loved it!

Very interesting tour! We almost skipped visiting Castel Sant'Angelo, but we are so glad that we decided to book the tour. The top of the castle has amazing views of Rome!

We had a small group of 6 which made this a comfortable tour. Our guide was terrific and very knowledgeable. This is not one of the more crowded sights, but should not be missed!

Alec was a fantastic tour guide, knowledgeable, articulate, entertaining, passionate about sharing his knowledge with his guests. You will learn more than just the history of this amazing building, but also gain an understanding of how things came to be. I've heard before how ancient buildings were looted over time for building materials. Alec preferred the term "Recycled" which is a more intelligent, non- judgemental view of this practice. The tour takes you to the top of the building for an unparalleled panoramic view of the city - spectacular! Taking this tour will enhance your experience and appreciation of Castel Sant' Angelo tenfold!

While I think touring this site on your own would likely be enjoyable- we greatly enjoyed going on this guided tour. In fact this was one of our favorite tours and favorite sites to visit. Our tour guide Cecilia was excellent! She approached the history and the way we walked through the site in chronological order- going through each layer of history. The view from the top was amazing. And there was even a little cafe in a shaded area. It was also one of the coolest tours due to the breeze and shade. This site was not as crowded when we went as some of the other sites- which also made it more enjoyable since we could really take in the sights and the history. Our group included me and my sister and niece and nephew - who are in their early 20s. This one was a favorite of everyone.

My husband and I booked this to begin one of our days in Rome. We went during high season and appreciated that this tour allowed us to skip the line. More importantly, we learned so much more than if we simply wandered through the castle on our own. The castle is the PERFECT combination between history, art, and views!! The terrace at the top provides the most-breathtaking view of all of Rome; it simply can not be beat! It is a must-see in my opinion. I would highly recommend this tour!

There really aren’t lines to get in and we went during high season. So you don’t really “skip the line.” You end up waiting longer because you wait for the tour to depart. It was interesting having a guide though and learning more of the history. They bumped us up to a 2 hour tour and that was too long. The one hour tour would have been better and all you need really. Guide was a little hard to understand, but friendly.
