What To Expect

Make your own way to a central meeting point in Rome to meet your guide and group.

Walk over to the Colosseum with your skip-the-line ticket in hand, then bypass the main entrance lines to head straight inside the arena via the Gladiator’s Gate. Transporting you back in millennia, your guide regales you with stories of the gladiators who fought here to their death.

From the arena, head up to the first floor to see where the bloodthirsty Roman crowds bayed, and gaze out over Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum—your next stop.

Leave the Colosseum, and walk over to the forum as you hear tales of imperial-era Rome. Wander around the main ruins and monuments of the ancient plaza, which was a center of political activity in the city’s heyday.

Finish your tour near the Roman Forum.

NOTE: There is a new rule at the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill that only small backpacks and regular-size handbags are allowed inside. Guests with larger bags are not allowed to enter (there are no storage facilities) and all guests must now pass through a security check before entering the Colosseum.

      Great tour. Paulo rocks!
      Lane_M, Apr 2024
Paulo was an amazing guide! He provided excellent historical information and provided local restaurant recommendations. Although he didn’t like my Big Mac recommendation. LOL
      Great experience

Anna was really amazing! Lots of details like they had naval battles in the Colosseum! You’ll have to take her tour to find out when and how. It was an excellent experience and well done. The site is very interesting and her narratives brought much of it to life. Highly recommend!
      Great tour of Roman History
      Victoria_O, Apr 2024
What an awesome tour. Started at the Forum. With all the historical knowledge our tour lead us back in history of Rome. Then it was on to the Coliseum. The perfect end to the tour. Temperature was perfect and not too crowded.
      Coliseum tour. Great tour

Fun, knowledgeable and a great story teller

This was probably one of the best guided tours we've done in a group setting. Eddy the guide was absolutely phenomenal. From the beginning, we could tell this was going to be fun. Eddy was funny, charming, and beyond knowledgeable! I mean, the guy has a PhD in Archeology and has actually worked on projects in Palatine Hill and the Forum. His knowledge was impressive, and the way he told the historical facts, flowed easily and he was a great story teller! All in all, this is a must do, especially if you have Eddy!
A+ in bringing the past to life

Alessi really knew her history and her sights. For each and every part of the walk, she knew the well known facts and a number of extras. She also brought to life what life was like in Roman times - e.g., in the Colosseum, she described in such detail what we would have seen had we been watching a show, that we might as well have been there! Same in the Forum. She is really excited at sharing what she knows and it shows
      Marco was amazing and...

      Colosseum is well worth it

The Gladiators gate tour was awesome. Pallatine Hill and the Forum were more enjoyable than I thought they would be as well. Alot of walking. The steps in the Colosseum were very steep so be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
      Fantastic tour! Highly recommend

This was a fantastic tour and our guide was quite the historian! We loved every bit of it and was a major highlight of our trip, thanks!
      Very knowledgeable guide...

Very knowledgeable guide which was great. Kids enjoyed it as well although flagged a bit at the end at the forum. Would recommend as avoided the queues. Did take a long time to get into the forum due to the number of school trips but can't be helped.
      Nice but a bit long

      Highlight of our trip
      Gary_A, Apr 2024
Our guide, Rosella, lived in Rome for many years and was very knowledgeable and friendly. We breezed through the gates to special access areas. Brilliant insight of the key historic sites. This tour was slightly more expensive than the others but was every penny.
      Immersed in Roman history
      Emma_M, Apr 2024
We had a wonderful local Roman tour guide who was super knowledgeable, friendly, and funny! We learned a lot on the tour, and it was the perfect amount of time. Would highly recommend this tour.
      Exceptional

Everyone has seen images of the Colosseum but I don’t think anything can prepare you for seeing it for you self. It truly is breathtaking. Make sure you remember photo ID (even for children) to avoid disappointment as they are very hot on this and likely to refuse entry. Our guide, Sev’s knowledge was very very impressive. He has a talent for really bringing history to life in his delivery which was accessible for all ages. Our experience was greatly enhanced with him leading the way. It’s nice he’s in no hurry and his passion for Roman history is obvious. A thoroughly recommend experience that will stay with you.
      Would highly recommend!!

Our family of four learned so much on this great tour! Angela was such a friendly, energetic and informative guide! Would highly recommend.
      Brilliant trip.
      Allan_B, Apr 2024
Sarah our host was absolutely fabulous, funny, knowledgeable and down to earth. The 3 hours passes in a flash. Brilliant worthwhile tour, highly recommended. Thank you Sarah. Note: the meeting place is right outside the park, you can use the toilets in the cafe opposite for free, take a bottle of water with you, you can fill it up for free. Tips optional at the end but should be done, well worth it.
      Amazing guide

Sev was a great tour guide. Very informative and also funny. I had been to the Colosseum and Roman Forum solo years ago and gained so much from going with a guide this time.
