During summer months in rare cases of inclement weather or strikes, the crater of Vesuvius may be closed to visitors, therefore, if this is the case, it is replaced with a visit to Positano where you will get free time to explore the city.
From early November to March the Vesuvius isn't accessible and it is replaced with a visit to Positano where you will get free time to explore the city.

The hike up to the crater of Vesuvius requires a good level of general fitness. The walk is uphill at a 14 degree angle and takes roughly 20 minutes.

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.

Had a fabulous day out on this Tour, we were taken by Kler and she was fantastic. We climbed Mount Vesuvius, it was very hot and then had a good lunch. The stop off point for coffee could be nicer, but we were on the main road.

This was a great experience!! I have been to Room several times… and was finally able to bring my mother to see such a magical city for her first time! We both decided to do something that neither of us have done before, and Pompeii was an easy choice. The tour around the city was as informative as it was beautiful! Our guides were excellent and Sonia with an I made us feel right at home! The hike up to Mount Vesuvius was an unbelievable experience, and even with my mother having an injured me the walk was very peaceful and out of Mello pace, she was able to keep up with the group without any problems!

I did the Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii trip. Vesuvius was something I am happy I have done and the view you get from the top is unreal. Our guide Anna was amazing with her knowledge of the regions and architecture we passed by from Rome to Vesuvius. Adamo our driver, again brilliant. Unfortunately the four stars is due to our guide at pompeii. Everything was rushed and we seemed to focus more on the roads more so than what has been found in terms of art and structures. I would have loved to have focused on the rooms that have their artwork and structures recoverrd and the main square temples. However, we got shown two shops the bath house and then left for 10minutes to explore the main square ourselves... I felt like we missed out on options to see more. I'll definitely go back to pompeii again as it is pompeii, it's insanely interesting just might not go with a guide this time.

Our guide Paola was great, but I booked this tour just because we wanted to climb to mount Vesuvius and see crater. Cold shower. They did not take us to see crater. We just got some geologist who barely spoke English and all I found out is that he is anarchist and vegetarian. So if you want to see crater, forget this tour. They will not bring you even close.

My husband and I had an amazing time on this tour! Laura was our tour guide on the bus, and she was very knowledgeable about the history of Rome and also very funny! Elena was our tour guide when we visited Pompeii and she was awesome. We learned a lot on the tour and had a great time!

Fantastic time with our guide Anna! Bus ride was comfortable and scenic. The hike of Vesuvius was about a half hour each way with gorgeous views. Pompeii was exciting and interesting. The lunch stop was filling and delicious.

Beautiful places, professional guides but lunch was subpar and time was limited

The guide was informative, willing to share and caring. However, the time we got to spend exploring Pompeii and Positano was way too short. We followed a professional guide in Pompeii who showed us very interesting spots with stories to share. We really hoped it could be a longer trip but we know the guide tried his best bringing us to as many spots as he could in the ancient city. We then had 30 mins for lunch so that left us very little options and we had to order from the extremely touristy restaurant that the guide recommended. We ordered a magarita pizza which had ONE basil leave on it and tasted really average. With a can of coke and water it cost 20 Euro. Definitely do not recommend. Positano was beautiful but we were rushing to grab a drink and in and out of a few shops before we had to return to the coach. If I were to choose again, I'd rather we visit one place at a time and have more time to really explore the place.

Getting to walk through the ruins of Pompeii was amazing. The only negative was the timing which was a bit rushed - 90 minutes is simply not enough. Would recommend a longer sojourn at Pompeii maybe at the expense of unnecessary stop at a Limoncello factory. The visit to Positano was also unique and a great way to end the day. Our guide for the day Antoneno was fantastic!

Long day journey to battle the crowds in Pompeii. Our guide Antonia and guides at both Vesuvius and Pompeii were all 5 stars. Antonia especially took great care of us. I would just warn you to be prepared for a very long 13 hour day with 4 - 5 hours of it spent on a bus depending upon traffic. We wished we had taken the train and done a local tour and maybe spent a night down in Naples. Nothing wrong with the descriptions and as I said the people were great, just not our thing.

LONG day trip from Rome

We went on the day trip from Rome to visit Pompei and Mount Vesuvius. Pompei was as expected, an entire ancient city excavated with interesting mosaics, wall paintings, election propaganda, etc. The tour brought us to a place midway up to Mount Vesuvius for lunch, which was covered by the price of the tour. The 3 course lunch consisted of fried bread with some type of cheese, about a 10 inch Napoli style pizza with just 2 basil leaves, and cake with ice cream made from buffalo milk. The hike on Mount Vesuvius was led by an informative guide with a good amount of volcanology knowledge. The main reason I only gave 3 stars is because of the long bus ride from Rome. We ended up spending more time on the bus traveling than actually touring.

It was a good trip. Excellent guide with Valentina. Just about enough time to get up to the top of vesuvius with dodgy legs. Could have done with an extra 20 minutes to take more bits in. Lunch was fab with a custom pizza as I am very fussy. Pompei experience was good too. Forgot the guides name. Travel back to Rome took longer with the Easter holiday traffic. All in all a good trip we all enjoyed.
